Her forced smile faded and her demeanor became more aggressive. "I'm their mother," flatly taking back the older sister role. My hands dropped onto my side at the sudden confusion.
"Weren't you siblings earlier?" almost grinning at her bad acting.
"Who the fuck are you?" Her voice was low and assertive, ignoring my comment. The kids started showing painful expressions around their wrists.
"Let go of them," I took another step forward, hoping to intimidate the girl with the knife slowly gaining its position near my chest. "I'll be taking them with me," taking a few steps more until I was right in front of her face and my knife almost at her throat.
Her eyes focused on my face and dropped to the side of my neck. There, I noticed her mouth bubbling and salivating. It was too peculiar for my reflex motors to recognize the threat I was in.
"Stop!" The eldest tightened its hug on the girl's legs. He was shaking and the other two who were trying to break free from her hold just stood there, looking on the ground with these unexplainable terror that they were suddenly engulfed with. "We'll go with you, so please," he was trying to speak to the girl still focused on my neck.
"What are you—," I was cut too short.
"We want to go with our 'mother' so go away," the boy shouted at me as my feet fell back a few steps, gripping my knives tighter.
"You heard them," she suddenly had the brightest and biggest smile on her face. "Now shoo—" she started walking past me, the three kids following her, no hint of fighting back as I was frozen in place.
Staring at the ground, the boy's reaction playing on my mind in rewind.
"What was that?" I mumbled, opening my maps as I walked back to the place I told them to wait. I found my backpack on the floor with only the food and rations gone. "Great, he still has it then," I sat there, catching my breath and feeling the chill I got around my neck.
"Cedrick, was there any information about buffed ones looking like humans?" I was looking in my records and making sure by asking him too.
"None," he was breathing heavily. "We still don't have enough information about those. But if you ask for my opinion, the 'tens' to 'king' sure are peculiar and I wouldn't be too surprised if you speculated them to be in human forms," more silent slicing and shots were heard.
"Are you finished there yet?" I was typing the coordinates and password to unlock the procedures to bypass the code that was put in our cloaks.
"These unOrdinary keeps on coming from any direction," I hear him cocking his gun multiple times. "Give me some slack," he grunts, taking a deep breath and focusing on his end.
"There," I clicked send and everyone received the kid's location. "I added their positions too, come and assist us as soon as you guys can," I say in everyone's ears. Luckily, I gave them my cloak which had a tiny chip that served as a tracking device. And only the one who leads a team knows the passwords for additional settings.
Like wiretaps to hear any type of information.
"Everyone's already starving," it was faint but I could hear the girl from earlier mumbling.
I started running to where the pinned location was, passing the store where I saw Meon's corpse. While looking at my watch, they were still moving deeper. There were no lights to guide me, thus all my focus went to mapping the area as I quickly tried and catch up.
I heard the closing of the door in my ear, followed by multiple voices cheering at their arrival.
I wasted no time stopping as I checked their location on the map. They were hiding in the bathrooms.
"Where's the other appetizers?" I hear a deep voice being disappointed.
"Let's skip and eat the main dish, shall we?" another confident but strained man's voice says.
"Then who wants a leg for today?" that familiar girl's tone sounded more fierce and crazy as I heard a thud, followed by a loud cry.
"No, please don't," the screams were muffled, her tiny vocals reaching her highest pitches as her breathing became unstable. "Don't!" She screamed after having the chance to. "Help! Somebody!"
An unOrdinary jumped in front of me, swinging its arms and almost landing its claws on my left arm. But I managed to jump to the side, stumbling my landing caused my back to slightly hit the wall.
I cried out a whine at the impact but jumped out of the way fast as I felt the ground shake at its next attack. I pulled out my knives and jumped at the back of it after the punch that was meant for me got stuck on the wall. I sunk my blades on each side of its neck and put all my force into severing its head.
"Here's another one, the meat will be as tender," the same woman said, and another thud was heard. While the boy helplessly cried in the room.
"Please," I hear him beg, fabrics being torn and pleads echoing in my ear.
"Move!" Shouting at the next unOrdinary that launches itself to me. Pulling my gun out and shooting its head nonstop until it dropped to the ground.
I proceeded to run as I was able to see the sign above the ceiling that I was nearing where the bathroom was. "Fucking move!"
I swung my knives, slicing the unOdinary's legs that charged and ran to me. I quickly turned around and forced my blade to settle on its brain and pulled it upwards, splitting it into two as the inside contents splashed all over my face.
"No," a weak shivering voice started to yell and got closer to the young ones. "Stop that!" his voice slowly gained volume as I heard him being punched and had difficulty breathing after.
"Don't worry you're next," I can hear the hunger in another person's tone, laughing.
"Do anything you want with me," his voice clear and loud. "Just let go of them," he shouts.
"Who said you're safe?" a different voice emerges along with the sound of a sharp blade sheathing. "You'll join them too," he laughed like a maniac.
After having enough momentum from how fast I rushed, I jumped and straightened my legs as the door swung open after my kick.
"How dare y—," My eyes were opened wide as my lips shut still after I stood tall from the impact and saw how horrendous it was.
