Nalan Ko looked trough the clothes in the store. As a healer, she couldn't walk around in these clothes that not even servants would wear. But first, she chose for her children.
Mae was the fastest to find what she liked. Beautiful set on green and pink. Kiu loved flowers so she found her cute set with flowers and Na'an she chose one set but he looked at Mei Ling with questions on his face and she shook her head. ''Mother he is a boy. How can you put such bright color on him? I think he could wear something with dark blue with silver. It would look amazing on him.''
She saved Na'an of wearing a light blue boy set but on him, it would look horrible. He was cute himself. If he put those clothes on he would look like a girl. He thankfully sighed din relief after her words while grabbing the set she chose for him and went to try it on.
Nalan Ko nodded but had mischievous glint on her face when she stared at Mei Ling. ''Now it's your turn. You have to accept what I buy for you or I will be really hurt.''
Mei Ling just shrugged. ''It is fine. I can see you have a taste of female clothes. Unfortunately, Na'an is a boy so he probably had really a problem with his clothes. You like cute things, don't you mother?''
She realized the moment they entered the store that Nalan Ko is not that stoic as she seemed. She would rush from one side to another looking through a bunch of different designs that looked cute and had light colors. So this is real Nalan Ko? Did she love cute and fluffy stuff? Maybe she can invent her room by her taste now.
A huge smile appeared on Mei Ling's face as she looked the excitement rising in Nalan Ko's eyes.
''Good child. From now on I will buy clothes for us girls and you help your brother. Since he could talk he would always complain about his clothes. I have no idea why. He looks adorable in it.''
Mei Ling looked at Na'an and they both simultaneously rolled their eyes. ''Mother. Boys should look cute, but not to the point of looking like females. Or do you want him to get attention from wrong side of people? I am sure even in this world there are people that like cute men. Inclusive the other man. What f some strange man abduct him? No no, my brother will be raised to be big and strong like Noak. I think Noak is adorable as well, right mother?''
Nalan Ko suddenly felt heat rushing towards her cheeks and quickly turned around while ignoring her words. ''My daughter will look cute in all colors. You are already a young woman, hmm maybe pink or even red?''
Actually, Mikey loved to wear nice clothes. But the neighborhood she lived at was too dangerous for a cute woman to stroll around in a cute dress and high heels. But now in this world she had powers, family and a new name. She is no more Mikey. Now she is Mei Ling and she plans to live like her.
''Mother, just chose what you think will look good on me. I will try it all and we can choose the one you think it's the best for me. There is one more thing. My gear. You said I can make it stronger? Will we have enough coins for everything?'' Mei Ling was worried as they as well planned to buy food as well.
Nalan Ko smiled at her. ''With Noak, you will just go on medium quests that are not too dangerous. For now, stay with him until his sister comes back. After that, you can try with other groups as well. You need quite a lot of experience to be able to rise your tracking and nature powers. By the way, school is starting soon. You will go and visit classes as well soon. The sect is giving classes every few months and explaining newbies about their powers and how to use them. In couple days new classes wills tart.''
Mei Ling stopped in the track. ''Do we need to buy clothes, or books or something?''
Nalan Ko shook her head. ''You can just go there and listen to explanations. They do not care how old or young you are. It is, of course, better if you are found to have powers since birth as you would have longe time to learn how to control your powers. But luckily you are not old as well.''
Mei Ling was curious. ''Was there ever a case that someone old found out he or she had powers?''
Nalan Ko laughed. ''Actually, yes. There was this old man a couple decades before my birth that felt weird near the water all his life. But as he had no idea how to control his powers he just thought it was fear of it. But one day there was a flood and a wave of water almost killed his granddaughter. In his extreme fear he stopped the water flow and walked over the water like it was hard ground. He saved her and when he came back he went to the first town to report. It seems he wasted his life as he actually could have become quite powerful. Unfortunately, as he never became real cultivator over golden order, his life span got cut just few months later and he died in vain. Since then the whole lines of people are trying to test themselves in the hope that they don't waste their lives like him.''
Mei Ling nodded as she remembered the long lines of people that waited in front of them and even longer after them. They were actually quite lucky at that time as the testing point just got open when they arrived so they are a bit further in front.
Then she remembered that curious elder. How is he actually?
