Chapter 3 - 03.The cause 3

''Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, you came as well. Oh, miss Olis?'' The two people pushed the old lady in chai to say goodbye to her. The last man who was with them in the hospital was released the day that all happened so his bed was empty the whole time.

''We came to say our goodbyes. Child, I do not know what will happen in the future but here is something it might help you.'' The old woman pushed a fat envelope into her hands making Mikey speechless. She didn't even have to count it, she already knew that amount seem to be quite a lot.

The doctor coughed as he took one more envelope. ''We added each some money as well. We hope you won't look down on our meager assistance. This is for your future. Its good to have some safety, you know?''

Mikey stared at them with big eyes but then smiled brightly. ''Then let me become thick faced and accept it. If one day in the future I can help another person like you all helped me, I will do it, again and again. I swear.''

They all smiled as she stuffed the money into her shirt as she could see the social care worker coming over withs serious expression. ''It's time. Thank you all. For everything.'' She pressed her hands over her chest where she hid the money and winked at them while the woman just greeted them and took her to the outside.

On the door, she turned back and could see them all stills standing there and staring at her. She smiled brightly at them and yelled. ''Live long and never come back to the hospital. Don't get sick, live happily!''

Doctors and nurses were stunned by her words but then smiled. They understood her words. It is better if there is no need for a doctor than there is. They waved after her and as she sat down into the old car the woman drove she glanced once more back and sighed. Let's hope they can live healthily and happily for a long, long time.

The woman smiled at her as she could see now a healthy color on her face. ''We are sorry that none of us stood up and came to help you at that time. We found out that your case never was even near us as her cousin worked there and stopped all the reports. It is crazy to even think what would have happened if your teacher was not worried about you.''

Mikey nodded. ''I know miss Smith. Don't worry. Some things are unavoidable. From now on I will live a happier life.''

''Why did you choose to live there? We could have found you a family to take care of you or your own apartment?'' She didn't understand.

''Miss Smith, do you know what is the scariest thing for me now?'' She could see her shaking her head and looked through the front window with a smile. ''To be alone. I want to be in mid of the crowd for a while until I am sure that I can start a new life alone. Living there won't cost me a penny. I will get paid for partial help and at the same time, I can spend some time with kids that are like me. I can give them some support fo their life and some happiness. Who knows, maybe in future I might become a teacher or someone like you. I do not know did anyone ever told you ''Thank you'', ever?''

Miss Smith was surprised by that. ''No. But I am young. I might hear it in the future.''

Mikey saw that they will stop on red so as soon miss Smith stopped she hugged her and smiled brightly at her. ''Thank you miss Smith.''

Of course, she was happy about this child's sudden outburst of thankfulness but unfortunately, they were in the car and the lights changed their colors so she had to drive again. Mikey realized that and moved back to her seat where she smiled at the world with large eyes.

Now everything was new. Every house, building, corner, tree, shop, human, dog, bird, everything was now in brighter colors. Yes, this is how it feels happy again, finally.

Getting closer to the orphanage Mikey had suddenly bad premonition. Even tho there were many people coming and going, the police cars that were parked in front of the main entrance didn't seem as it would give ensuring feeling.

Miss Smith furrowed her eyebrows. ''Child, stay here. I will check out what happened.''

Mikey could only nod while looking at people bringing out crying children one by one. It seems this won't be her new home, after all. Maybe she should just travel around or should she not?

The clouds outside looked dark and threatening and loud thunder could be heard from far away. She shrugged while looking at the sky. ''Rain is good. It was about time.''

The last time was the rain a few weeks ago when she was on her way back home. Since then the summer heat hit the town and burned hard on everything. This rain will ease a little bit of the heat.

Looking at the crowd she slowly stepped out of the old car and walked towards the group of reporters with curiosity. She could hear them discussing school and stood a bit further away while listening.

''Did you hear? The government is locking the school as many children disappeared at once, including the teachers. Some said it was a big abduction case and some of those terrorist groups will call and ask for money.''

''But that is impossible. I heard that Senator was visiting this orphanage and they had securities all over the place. So that theory is impossible.''

''Did they got killed and their bodies just disposed of? Somewhere in the basement or something?''

''That would make sense if they found any sign of the fight. But there is nothing.''

''What about aliens?''

''Oh, I know you are crazy about all that alien plot, but no matter what, aliens didn't do this.''

''Ok, maybe not aliens, but what about the portal to another dimension. Or time slip. Or both?''

''Man, stop talking. We can argue about the science fiction next time. Let's hide in corner and find a way to slip inside. Maybe we can find a real reason why they disappeared. I do not trust police one second.''

''Remember the case with one Senator that wanted to rape a child and was found out. He killed the whole class and put the fault on one of the students. What if there is a similar case?''

''Idiot. I was there the whole time. He didn't move even one finger. I can even say he almost fell asleep while children were performing on stage for him.''

''Never mind. If you guys do not want, I am going alone. this is the story of the year for me. Thanks for giving it to me.''

Woman sneakily stared at the tall wall and swung her bag over it. With light feet, she climbed up under everyone's astonished eyes and disappeared behind the wall.

''Fool, if she is caught...''

''No, we are fools. I wish I was as sportive as she is. I might have gone as well. the rest of you have no excuse. So if she wins the prize you better gratulate to her honestly.''

The man laughed and turned back to the police officers to try to interview them while others felt lost.

Mikey was curious as well, but not foolish. If there is danger thee, why should she go?

Suddenly she heard a voice from the other side. A yelp. The woman jumped back and started panting. Everyone surrounded her and looked at her with big eyes.

''Impossible for now. I'll go tonight. There are too many cops there now. They even brought dogs with them. You know I hate dogs.'' She shook her body and from corner of eyes saw Mikey that curiously stared ta her.

''You, come here.'' She called her.
