Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Shock To The System

"Ughhh..." A young man weakly groaned. "What hit me?" He muttered.

Wincing as he suddenly felt a horrible pounding in his head that continued to intensify by the second.

The pain getting worse and worse, until suddenly it just stopped.

Leading the boy to breathe a sigh of relief.

That is until he suddenly found himself remembering things he had never experienced before.

Living in an orphanage, living on the streets, becoming a thief just to survive from one day to the next, etc...

"What is this?" The man muttered. "What the hell is going on? Why are these images in my head?" He asked.

Beginning to slowly breathe rapidly as the memories got stronger and stronger.

Until finally they stopped.

Then once they did the man finally understood what had just happened to him.

Those memories that just flashed through his mind were his own.

Yet at the same time they weren't.

Since they belonged to another person entirely.

Though again that wasn't the case.

Why?

Because the man is both this person and himself.

To put it simply he has reincarnated and become another person entirely.

Well not entirely since he and the person he has become share the same name.

Which is Derek Cowan.

In fact their appearances are also exactly the same.

A terrifying coincidence in Derek's mind.

But that's where the similarities between he and the other Derek Cowan end.

For while he was once a just working guy in his late twenties, before the jealous and pathetic ex-boyfriend of his then current girlfriend got the drop on him and managed to shoot him not only in the balls, but also the heart, leading to his current situation, the other Derek he had become was just a teenager.

One who had just turned fifteen years old apparently from what his new memories are telling him.

Who was also an orphan.

That got kicked out of the group home he was living in just a few months ago after his Mutant powers manifested.

Yes, that is right.

Turns out the other Derek Cowan is a Mutant.

Who, surprise surprise, is an inhabitant of the Marvel Universe.

Since Derek can recall from his new memories companies like Stark Industries and Oscorp Industries.

Not to mention the famous Captain America and his Howling Commandos operating during World War II. The former of which is the spitting image of Chris Evans.

While Tony Stark looks exactly like the actor Robert Downey Jr. from his previous life.

Which would mean Derek is likely living in a slightly alternate version of the MCU right?

Wrong.

Since Derek new memories also recall something about a company known as Trask Industries.

Not to mention the Fantastic Four exist in his new reality.

All of them the spitting image of the actors who played them in the MCU F4 film in his previous life.

Reed Richards looking exactly like Pedro Pascal.

Not to mention he remembers hearing of a country named Latveria.

Combine that with the existence of Mutants and Derek knows he is not living in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Maybe a reality close to it, but not one strictly MCU.

Which terrifies him immensely.

Given of the threats he knows that could now possibly exist in the world.

Besides potentially Thanos there is definitely a Dr. Doom, given the F4 exist and one existing without the other is almost impossible in any Marvel reality, and likely Galactus, to say nothing of the likes of organizations like Hydra or A.I.M., not to mention Mutant-related threats such as Mister Sinister and Apocalypse.

"Fuck me." Derek couldn't help but blurt out.

Of all the things that could've happened to him he had to be reincarnated in such a manner.

"Well at least it's not all bad." He said. Looking down at his hands. "At least I have power." Derek spoke. Thinking of his powers activating, which they did a second later.

Leading to sparks of blue and white electrical energy appearing around his hands. Mesmering the newly reincarnated man.

"Cool." He spoke.

Derek then decided to take things a bit further.

So he held up his left hand and imagined a blast firing from it.

The action happening a second later.

The electric blast in question moving until it slammed into the wall of the abandoned building Derek has been squatting in, ever since he was kicked out of the group home, and blew a hole right through it.

Leaving Derek a bit slack jawed.

"Okay. Let's maybe not try that again inside." He muttered to himself.

Derek then thought about his powers turning off and they did.

Thankfully.

Once they did he got up from the old mattress he had been using as his makeshift bed and then walked over to the only non-boarded up window in the room he was in and looked out of it.

Immediately seeing the streets of the Big Apple, New York City, itself.

Most likely the most dangerous city to live in in any Marvel Universe, or the safest, depending on how you look at it.

Though right now Derek can't say one way or the other.

Right now he is just enjoying the fresh air and the site before him.

Basking in the ambience for a few more minutes Derek eventually backed away from the window.

Once he did he went to sit in a chair the other him had found before they merged.

After he did he worked to get his thoughts together.

Though as Derek did his new memories kept replaying in his mind. Not leaving him alone, no matter what. So instead of continuing to ignore them he immersed himself in them.

Derek quickly realizing after he did his new memories were basically trying to tell him something.

That he was not just a Mutant with the power to manipulate electricity but one who had the powers and capabilities of one of his favorite childhood heros from his previous life.

Vigirl Ovid Hawkins aka Static Shock.

Derek didn't know how this was possible, or why it was happening. Perhaps it was a result of however he reincarnated from his previous life? Perhaps it was just a lucky coincidence? Either way Derek didn't care.

All he knew was that he now had the potential to put the shock to another person's system.

Bringing a smile to his face.

One he chose to bask in.

Just like he did as he looked out the window at New York City a moment ago.

Having no idea what was about to transpire.

The mutant tracking device known as Cerebro around his head, Professor Charles Francis Xavier, mutant telepath and founder of the heroic Mutant superhero team known as the X-Men, zeroed in a Mutant signature he had just detected in New York.

As he did this, one of his former students, now a teacher his school geared toward educating young Mutants, Ororo Munroe, stood on his left.

"Have you zeroed in on this new Mutant Charles?" She asked.

"Yes Ororo, I have." Charles replied. Removing Cerebro from his head. "And from what I can tell he is powerful. Though it's strange. His mind is...unclear to me."

"Even with Cerebro?" Ororo asked.

Charles giving a curt nod.

Shocking Ororo somewhat.

Since Charles was already a powerful telepath even without Cerebro boosting his powers.

So for him not to be able to penetrate the mind of a young boy...

"You're right. He must be powerful."

"Or he could be scared of in trouble. We cannot tell from here. So there's no time to waste. Assemble a team and go greet him." Charles spoke.

Ororo nodding. "Of course. And what is this Mutants name?"

"Derek Cowan." Charles replied.

Thus dealing Derek first meeting with the X-Men.

Yo, what up readers.

So, to begin with I'm not dead.

Just extremely busy with my new job. Which has me working from 7 in the morning to 7 at night.

Leaving me hardly any time to write.

That's why I'm not updating like I used to. But I still want to. I also still love to write. Hence this new story.

Because growing up I loved Static Shock. His powers and the lessons I learned from the television show.

That's partially why I'm doing this story.

Which updates will be slow. Since I want to give quality chapters and not just quantity.

Now then, Derek is about to encounter the X-Men.

But spoiler, he won't be sticking with them. He'll leave. But only after several chapters. Since right now he's basically starting from zero. He needs to build up some things first before leaving Xavier and his group.

Not the first of which is establishing his relationship with his two love interests Rogue and Kitty Pryde.

Who I chose because they are ever hardly used as love interests in fan fics.

Well that's different in this one.

Also for those wondering Sublime does not exist. Since I hate that from the comics.

Oh and as for this Marvel Universe it is not comic accurate. For I'm not crazy enough to screw over my MC like that.

Also as far as I am concerned there will only be two major love interests in this story.

I am currently not looking to add any more.

That is all for now.
