Synopsis
On the night Eva planned to surprise her husband with news of her pregnancy, she walked into a nightmare—Nathan, her loving husband, tangled in a kiss with his ex-girlfriend, Katherine. “What can I say? I only wanted to give him a child since you couldn’t do so yourself,” Katherine, his ex cooed. “You’re really stupid,” Nathan added. “We’ve been doing this behind your back even before we got married. Did you really think I would choose you over Katherine?” He asked, as if she was living in delusions. Eva was shocked to the brink but didn’t fight back. She was a renowned model and had lots of money to forget her so-called husband and raise her child as a single mother. Unfortunately, Katherine had seen the pregnancy scan Eva was holding, clenched in her hand. She arranged for Eva to be beaten up so badly she had a miscarriage, a broken leg and a battered face, then tossed into the river to die. Fortunately, she was found by Dante De Rossi, a billionaire who was being pressured by his family to find a woman so as to clear off gay rumors which was starting to tarnish his reputation. Dante offered Eva a simple deal. “Just pretend to be my woman, and bear my child. As soon as the rumors are cleared, I’ll assist you in whichever way you want,” he offered. Tempted, Eva agreed. With a new face, and a new identity, Eva makes a comeback to make Nathan and Katherine pay, but makes sure to keep focus on her main mission since she was a child. But what happens when Eva’s journey of revenge leads her from one discovery to another? And Dante? Is he involved in anything or will he protect his family, even from his pretend wife despite knowing fully well he can’t live a day without her?

Chapter 1 - New Blessing

"It was nice working with you Mrs. Cross," someone said as Eva signed the papers, agreeing to model for a new fashion agency.

"The pleasure is mine," Eva responded, a smile on her lips as she handed the file back to the CEO of Eleoquise.

"With everything going smoothly, the shooting of the magazine page will start as soon as possible. I'll send the details to your manager here," Naomi, the CEO said, a smile on her lips as she shook Eva's hands.

Eva nodded in understanding. After exchanging a few words of gratitude, she and her manager, Maxine, left the tower.

"Securing another deal? That must be awesome," Maxine cheered. She may be Eva's manager, but she was still her very good friend. Such formality wasn't needed while speaking with her friend, especially since there was no one around.

"I'm thinking of going on a break for a little while," Eva suddenly said, making the grin on Maxine's face stiffen.

"Wait what? You have to be joking."

Eva shook her head. "Not at all." She placed her hand on her belly. "I need to take care of myself and my unborn child, Max. Even after giving birth, I still need to be there for my baby."

Maxine had to agree that Eva was right.

For as long as she could remember, Eva had been struggling to stay pregnant for her husband, Nathan. Whenever she conceived, she would have an unexpected miscarriage.

So, she completely understood that Eva would want to take some time off her modeling career to take care of herself.

"Once I'm done with Eleoquise's magazine shoot, I'll go into a five-year break." Eva sighed as those words came out of her lips.

"I'm happy for you," Maxine added, wrapping her arms around Eva. "Shoot! Don't you have to go to your anniversary dinner? It's getting late. Nathan must be waiting for you already. Do you need me to drive you there?"

"You don't have to worry. I can still drive." She waved Maxine goodbye as she got into her car and drove off to the location of her dinner date with Nathan with a smile blooming on her lips the entire time.

Excitement and happiness fluttered in her belly as she imagined the look on Nathan's face once she told him she was pregnant. After many miscarriages, he didn't leave her side. He didn't give up on their love for each other and helped her heal each time.

It didn't take long for Eva to arrive at the restaurant where Nathan had booked the dinner. She was only half an hour late due to the signing of her new partnership but she hoped he was still there.

After confirming the dinner with the manager, the woman led her towards the table.

"You may go in, ma'am," the woman said, excusing herself.

Eva stood at the door, her heart drumming in her chest. For some reason, she was nervous.

She heard a soft tune sounding from inside, which confirmed that Nathan was still inside.

She reached into her bag to get the pregnancy scan so she would surprise him and held it in her trembling hands.

With a deep breath, Eva opened the door, expecting to see Nathan patiently waiting for her but that wasn't what she saw.

On the dinner table, a man's body was on top of a woman, kissing her as she rubbed her body against his chest.

She identified the man to be her husband, Nathan Cross, and the woman beneath him was none other than Katherine James.

She moaned as his lips left hers and roamed around her body, wrapping her in his kisses and affection.

Eva went stiff, frozen to her feet, unable to move, her heart flying out of her chest in shock.

"You feel so good, Kat," he moaned her name, lifting her leg so that he could sit properly between her thighs.

"Better than your wife?" She giggled.

"Far better than my wife."

Eva's fingers clenched on the pregnancy scan she held. Anger surged through her body. Barely unable to contain herself, she went to where the music was playing from and turned it off, which finally made the couple notice her presence.

Nathan immediately sprinted off of Katherine's body while the latter tried to rearrange her dress.

"Nathan…" Eva's voice cracked as she called his name.

"Eva, look, it's not what you think, okay? I was just trying to take something out of her eyes. It's not—"

"Shut up!" She snapped. "Do you think I'm blind? You think I didn't hear what you just said? Far better than my wife."

"It's not like—" Nathan paused, sighing. "Alright fine, you heard right. Katherine is far better than you ever would be."

Hearing him say those words to her face broke her heart, and she hadn't cried because she didn't want him to know how much he hurt her.

"You're gullible, Eva. We've been doing this way before we even got married and it took you this long to find out?" He asked, mockery evident in his tone.

Katherine laughed. "What can I say? She's really stupid to think we were over and moved on from each other."

Katherine was Nathan's ex from years ago. She'd returned and Nathan claimed he didn't have feelings for her while he courted her. Eva had never been suspicious of them because they were too careful. They fooled her for so long, and she wasn't pleased. She'd even considered Katherine a friend, a close friend, even a sister but was betrayed in return.

"But you shouldn't be pissed, Eva! With all the children you've miscarried for Nathan with your weak womb, I'm sure I can do better, don't you think?" Katherine cooed.

Eva's chest rose and fell. Betrayal wasn't on the list of what was supposed to occur tonight but she had no control over other people's actions.

Eva sighed.

"Don't be sad," Nathan said. "You can still be my wife or be divorced. It's up to you to decide."

"Let's get divorced," she replied instantly.

If there was something her parents had taught her, it was to never beg for love.

Nathan was stunned.

"W-wait," he stuttered. He hadn't expected divorce to rush out of her lips so soon.

"I'll send my lawyer to you tomorrow with the papers. Make sure to sign it," she added, turning to leave with a shattered heart.

Katherine stared at her hand and noticed the pregnancy scan. Her eyes squinted at Eva's back with a malicious instinct.
