Chapter 1 - The Watch That Ticked Again

20 years ago, a event, or what the government calls a "natural disaster" occurred and wiped out half of the worlds population in a instant, government officials called this the "Zero Hour" event. One year after that, Aoi Takamura was born in a place called "New Eidon City". his parents used to tell him how the event was like and how it affected the entire world forever, Aoi was so interested in this "Zero Hour" event ever since he heard about it. It steered him to become a engineering prodigy at just age 19.

PRESENT DAY:

Aoi was visiting the hospital, once again after numerous visits. His father has recently become sick with a deadly cancer, ever since he became sick , his father would always say these words: "When I die…visit our workshop and look in the left cabinet".

Today was no different as Aoi's father said those same words once again, his words brought confusion and curiosity to Aoi's expression every time he'd say that. But also a hint of defiance, he believes that his father can still make it, and this time, Aoi made sure to get his perspective across

"You keep saying that..but what if you don't die? There's still a possibility that you'll live through all of this! There's still so many projects I want to build, with you guiding me!" Aoi retaliated.

"And even if you do, that same left cabinet you keep talking about, it has a lock on it. And you never told me the code!"

Aoi's father sighed before speaking.

"You will know when the time is right."

Aoi's father reassured, Aoi ended up storming out of the hospital. While walking along the street, a man, dressed in all black with a hood covering his head rushes past Aoi. When Aoi took a quick glance at this man, there was something off about him, but when he looked back to see where the man was going, the man was gone. Aoi soon returns back home, his mother is absent as always, working late. Aoi puts down his stuff and heads towards the basement, him and his father's workshop, where Aoi will express his creativity through his inventions.

"I'm sick of this. I'm sick of my father keeping secrets-"

Aoi says, he picks up a nearby crowbar before using it to break the left cabinet his father begged to not open until his death. Aoi finds a watch, it's a futuristic yellow and blue watch, but the face of the watch is blank. Aoi takes the watch and looks at it.

"THIS is what Dad hyped up for all that time??"

Aoi says, trying to find a way to see if the face of the watch can turn on or something. Before he can fully investigate the watch, he could hear his mother open the front door upstairs, Aoi instantly puts the watch back in the cabinet, but he won't be able to explain why the wooden cabinet doors are reduced to pieces. Aoi's mother, Akira Takamura walks downstairs to meet Aoi.

"What's going on? Usually you wouldn't work on your inventions unless your father was around."

Aoi's mother says with a frown, she's clearly also affected and concerned for Aoi's father, Hiro Takamura's health, but she also looks concerned for Aoi's health, Aoi lived without any friends and his father was practically his best friend.

"I'm fine..I'm just…reviewing some old projects..you don't have to be concerned about me, I'm an adult, I can take care of myself.."

Aoi mutters, although he does care for his father, he just wants to hide the fact that his mother was right to be concerned. "Look," Akira grabbed a nearby chair and sat down

"I've been working a lot of late nights. So I haven't really had a chance to have a serious talk with you lately.."

Akira's words, her expression,Aoi could tell she deeply cared, and by how she's saying this, she also knows that Hiro, Aoi's father, will eventually die.

"So you believe it too huh, that Dad will die?!"

Aoi snaps, Aoi heads upstairs and goes outside to take a breather, that's when he saw a huge explosion far out north. That's…where the hospital that Hiro is staying at is..Aoi instinctively rushes forward, ignoring oncoming traffic, he reaches the destination in around 15 minutes by foot, to see that the hospital his father was staying at, is actively burning, and no one there has a way to get out, the doors were locked..on purpose it seems..

"NO!!! PEOPLE ARE STILL IN THERE!" Aoi says, he rushes forward to try to pry open the doors but quickly gets restrained by nearby policemen.

"Look kid, no matter how angry you get, you're not getting in there" One policemen says, clearly an attempt to calm down Aoi down, which fails miserably.

Aoi Takamura, had no choice but to watch the hospital his father was located, burn up in flames. A couple days passed, and it's been a downward spiral for Aoi's mental health, Aoi's mother was unresponsive to anything Aoi would say or do, it kept getting worse, until he realizes what his father said…late at night, Aoi's working on a new project, most likely a way to remember his father by, when a blue light flashes from the face of the watch, like it's calling out to him.

"Was there..really a reason Dad said to check this watch out now out of all times..?" Aoi asked himself, inching closer and closer to the left cabinet where the watch resided.

Once Aoi grabbed the watch and attached it to his wrist..he began to experience a flash of different colors swirling around him, when he looked at his hands, they were deteriorating right in front of his eyes..he seemingly passes out..and wakes up to a random place in New Eidon City..but the city looks..remade, different..it has more security all around, like everyone is constantly being watched.
