Chapter 1 - Transmigrated

"Bye Allen!"

"Bye Josh," I waved at my friend before turning to the road that led to my house.

As I walked ahead, I sighed because I was exhausted. After all the exams... I had no extra energy to talk or do another thing. Thankfully, the exams ended today or else, I wouldn't have known how else to write better.

Finally, I got home and walked in.

"Good evening, sis," I said to my sister, not minding to glance at her.

"Damn it!"

I heard her grunt but not wanting to ask her the reason, I didn't stop. Then again, she yelled.

"Fuck! This story is driving me crazy!"

I halted and finally turned my head towards her. She was sitting on her reading table, her eyes glued to the computer screen in her front.

"Sister, what's the matter?" I asked, walking towards her.

Getting to the table, I glanced at the screen.

"Doomsday?" I mumbled out. It was the novel my sister was reading. "What is the matter, sister? Why did you yell out so angrily?"

My sister sighed, adjusting her reading glasses. "I do not understand what the author of this book was thinking while writing it," she said.

"What do you mean?" I asked her.

"First of all, why is the Mc unreliable? Like I mean, he's strong, handsome, and all that... But why the hell is he unable to defeat the villain? Instead, he gets killed. Secondly, why would someone in their right senses create such a tragic end? All the characters are going to die, the whole world will be destroyed. Why and why?"

"Sister, I think you need to calm down," I said to my sister. "After all, it is just fiction. Nothing is real so it's nothing wrong if the author wants all the characters dead and also the world destroyed."

~Pam~

I immediately moved back the moment my sister angrily slammed her palms on the table. She rose to her feet, her chest rising in obvious anger.

"Sister, I didn't mean to get you upset but all I'm saying is that this is not enough to get you worked up. Everything is fiction. The characters, the world... everything. Nothing is real. Nothing is worth getting you upset about."

"Let me tell you," my sister said. "Fiction or no fiction, any author in their right senses can not create a tragic end for their books. I am an author as well and I am strongly saying that it's not possible unless they are mentally unstable!"

With that, she stormed away, out of the house. Probably to cool off or something. I gazed at the door for a while and then back at the screen. As I blankly stared at the screen, I could not still understand the reason for my sister's anger.

Like I said, everything is fiction. Besides, it's the author's decision to create whatever type of end for their book, be it a happy ending or a sad one. The readers should only be prepared for the worst.

*Sigh*

If only my sister could put all the energies she puts into fiction into looking for a spouse, I would definitely be the most happiest and supportive brother. Because... How can a lady who is going to be thirty in ten days still be single?!

"If only our parents were still alive," I muttered before going back to my room.

------

I had just eaten my night food and was about to go to bed but my sister was yet to return. I initially went to the door to check signs of her but nothing... I was getting worried.

While I was still thinking, my phone vibrated in my hand and when I looked at it, it was a message from my sister.

"I won't be back early, out with the girls. Go to bed and don't worry about me."

I read the message over and over again until I was finally satisfied. Relieved rather.

Knowing that my sister was safe, I smiled and went to the couch. I was going to sleep there so that I'll know when she returns.

The moment my back touched the soft couch, sleep came and I drifted away.

*Ding* Ding* Ding*

A loud sound suddenly woke me up from sleep and I opened my eyes. Suddenly, I was no longer in the apartment... Instead, I was floating in the air, inside what seemed to be an enclosure. The whole place was covered with glasses and I could see the reflection of a boy.

No wait... Why does the boy look like me?

[Welcome player]

A mechanical voice jolted me. I looked around but saw nothing.

Without letting me to digest the first news, I felt forcefully pulled towards a portal that had appeared out of thin air.

I didn't know how long I was off but what brought me back was nothing other than voices of people I barley recognize.

"Quinn, I think you should wake up already, master is gone now."
