Chapter 6: Time, the Traitor
That afternoon, Aurel sat silently in her bedroom.
A white wedding gown hung behind the door.
The invitations had been sent.
The makeup artist, the catering, even the wedding stage—everything was booked.
Everything was ready.
Everything… except her heart.
She stared blankly out the window, hugging the pillow Rey had once embroidered for her by hand.
Her chest was tight. Her heart trembled.
Tears rolled down her cheeks again—for the countless time that month.
"Rey… why haven't you sent any news? What am I supposed to do?"
In the village, everyone said Rey had surely forgotten.
That he was probably happy in the city by now.
But Aurel knew… her heart was still holding on to that promise.
Her parents didn't care.
"It's better you marry Damar. He comes from a good family. Not like Rey."
Damar.
A good man.
But not Rey.
Meanwhile, in the city, Rey stood in front of a tall office building that read:
PT Maha Karya
That day, he was officially promoted as the youngest manager in the company.
"You've done excellent work, Rey. You have a bright future," his boss said.
Rey gave a faint smile.
In his heart, his future remained the same: Aurel.
After years of struggle, Rey was finally stable.
He had savings. A good position. He was ready to go home.
"I'll come back next week..." he whispered, staring at the red bracelet on his wrist.
"I'll propose to you, Aurel…"
But he didn't know…
next week would be Aurel's wedding day.
