The rain poured down softly on a fine Sunday afternoon, like a whisper. It tapped lightly against the windows of the twins shared room, where the scent of CeCe's coconut shampoo and Alice's lemon tea mingled like always.
"The towns going to flood" CeCe muttered from the cozy swing seat in the corner of their room, her legs dangling as she scrolled aimlessly through her phone.
Alice glanced up from her sketchpad. "It never floods."
"Still. Wouldn't hurt to build an ark."
Alice smiled faintly. That was CeCe- dramatic and always thinking of outrageous outcomes or possibilities. The kind of person who made everything feel a little more alive. Even on days where nothing happened.
"What would you even take on the ark?" Alice asked.
"You of course," CeCe said simply. Then added "and maybe those cinnamon rolls mom hides from us to bribe dad to do the dishes when its her turn. And my speaker. And…"
"You can't bring music to the end of the world."
"Watch me."
The silence returned, but it wasn't heavy. It was the kind that hummed. That warm, lived in silence only shared by two people who've been halves of the same whole since birth.
"Did you see the new boy at the orientation on Friday?" CeCe asked after a beat.
"Nope. What about him."
"Nothing really. He's…. quiet. Kind of awkward. Nice smile, though."
Alice stopped drawing and stared at CeCe with a knowing look.
"I know, I'm on time out but you've gotta see him. He's adorable, like a puppy…I want to bite h- "
"CeCe Williams!!!" Alice screamed while CeCe burst into laughter.
"I'm joking Ally. I get I just broke up with Kevin but that doesn't mean I can't admire eye candy when I see some." CeCe smirked knowing she was stressing her sister.
CeCe had been a depressing relationship with one of the smartest boys in their grade. Kevin was smart, funny, charming and…tall but sadly loyalty didn't come with this package and he was more sexually active than he let on. CeCe and Alice swore to remain virgins till they found someone who ticked all their boxes…yes, they had a list for their dream guy and sex really was important to either of them at the moment. They were just looking for their perfect price charming... well CeCe more than Alice, Alice had never been in a relationship because well no one had ever asked her out she had never approach any of the people she had crushes on.
"I hope he's in our class, that'll be so fun" CeCe said jumping off the swing seat to join Alice on the carpet.
"Aww were you drawing me?!!" CeCe squealed.
"Stop acting like it's the first time…you're all over my sketchbook." Alice murmured.
"Is it cause I'm so hot?" CeCe raised an eyebrow.
"No, you're beautiful." Alice argued.
"I'd rather be hot to be honest but thanks sis, I think YOU'RE SMOKING HOT." CeCe said slapping Alice's ass as she got up.
"stawppp" Alice yelled throwing a pencil at CeCe.
"You realise you guys scream a lot, right? Jake said getting out of Alice's bed.
"What are you still doing here punk" CeCe said charging at Jake.
"Well, your dads cooking today and id be stupid to leave early and miss a free meal pig." Jake said tackling CeCe back to the carpet.
"Stop calling me a pig you swine!"
"You realise those are the same thing righ- SMACK.
"a foot to the mouth for talking so damn much" CeCe smiled in content.
"Ewwwwww now I'm going to have to drink bleachhh, you pig!" James's expression looked like someone just spat in his damn water. See what I did there?
"Dinner time guys and CeCe stop hitting Jake" Brian Williams the twins father called out. "Hurry or your moms going to finish all the pasta! Baby calm down!"
"COMING!" They yelled in unison.
This was a typical Sunday for the Williams…and Jake who was basically a member of the family. He spent most of his time at theirs since he was always home alone considering his moms job but he didn't hate her one bit after all he was in full support of her 'getting the bag', and he got to see her on holidays so that was great.
His dad on the other hand was an absolute deadbeat who only contacted his son to ask for money, Jake has five different numbers blocked already.
Despite his family's little stitch, he never let it affect him negatively and his main support was his mom's early morning and late night calls, and this gorgeous family sitting Infront of him, he loved them so much and was grateful for everything he had.
