The Unexpected Reunion: Fani and Diaz
One day before the meeting, 8 PM, at Manado International Airport. Fani, carrying a large suitcase, exited the airport. She checked her watch.
"Where is Diaz?" she wondered.
She immediately took out her smartphone and called Diaz, but he didn't answer. She typed a message to Diaz and waited at a cafe near the airport entrance. While sitting, Fani kept checking her smartphone, waiting for news from Diaz. Two hours passed, it was already 10 PM, and the cafe was about to close. Reluctantly, Fani left the cafe.
"Ugh, why is it taking so long... maybe I should just go straight to his apartment. He did give me the address," Fani muttered to herself.
Finally, she decided to go directly to Diaz's apartment, but while waiting for a taxi, there were no taxis at the airport, and she couldn't book one online because pickups weren't allowed inside the airport.
"Forget it, I'll just fly," Fani muttered.
She took her suitcase to a rather deserted parking lot, then she began to float and sped towards Diaz's apartment.
Meanwhile, at the apartment, Diaz had just finished showering and came out, drying his hair.
"Not bad, caught two criminals, hehehe... just keep it up like this," Diaz said, sitting on the edge of his bed.
He took his smartphone from the drawer and turned it on. "Ding... ding," several messages came in, and there were missed call notifications. Diaz, reading them, immediately stood up.
"I'm dead, I forgot to pick up Fani... oh may God... ugh..." Diaz muttered.
He immediately put on his pants and shirt, but as he was about to leave, "Thud," something fell on his balcony. "Knock... knock... knock," the sound of his balcony window glass being knocked by someone.
"Huh... this is the 30th floor, right?" Diaz wondered to himself.
"Hey, hey, open up, it's cold out here," a girl's voice said softly.
"There's someone outside? How did they get up here?" Diaz wondered to himself.
Slowly, he approached the window and opened the curtain. As soon as the curtain opened, Diaz immediately fell back in shock and crawled backward. The reason was he saw the body of a pale-skinned, headless girl standing and waving her hand, while her other hand held a large suitcase.
"W-what is that..." Diaz stammered.
"Oh, stop looking at my body, look here," a voice was heard from behind the other curtain.
Crawling, Diaz approached the curtain, his whole body trembling. He opened the curtain and saw Fani's head floating and spinning around, her long hair fluttering behind the curtain.
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Diaz screamed in shock.
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Fani also screamed, seeing Diaz scream.
Diaz immediately crawled backward in fear. He saw Fani's head move towards her body and reattach as if nothing had happened.
"Wh-who are you...? What do you want...?" Diaz stammered.
"Open up, Diaz, it's me, Fani," Fani replied.
"L-lying... no way, Fani in the picture isn't like you..." Diaz replied.
"Oh, you mean like this?" Fani asked.
Fani immediately transformed into a girl with fair skin and black pupils, like a normal girl. Diaz, seeing this, couldn't believe it.
"You... you're disguised as Fani, aren't you...? Where's the real Fani...?" Diaz yelled.
"Hey, this is the real me!" Fani yelled from behind the glass.
"Lies!"
Diaz stood up and took off his bracelet. He immediately opened the window and choked Fani, then lifted her up.
"Diaz... let go... it's... me..." Fani pleaded.
"Prove you're Fani!" Diaz yelled.
"Your username is Kalong, right...? Mine is Corpse... we're going to Jakarta... to college... at University T... our campus is in building F... right... right?" Fani stammered.
"Hmm... it's true, though... alright then," Diaz replied.
He released Fani and brought her inside, then he asked Fani to sit on the sofa and put his bracelet back on.
"Who are you really, Diaz?" Fani asked, touching her neck.
"Just like you see... who are you really, too?" Diaz asked.
"Same, just like you see," Fani replied.
Both were silent but looked at each other. Then Diaz stood up and took a soda drink from his refrigerator. He gave it to Fani, and he drank his own while sitting back down.
"So... you're really a corpse?" Diaz asked.
"Don't be ridiculous, I'm still alive, it's just that my form is like a corpse. Are you really a bat?" Fani asked.
"Something like that... well, thank goodness, there's someone else weird like me," Diaz said.
"Same here, I have a friend who's also weird... but... does that mean the viral thing in Manado was you?" Fani asked.
"Huh, what viral thing? I don't know?" Diaz asked.
"Hold on, I'll open it..."
Fani took out her smartphone, her fingers danced on the screen, and then she gave Diaz the video she had taken from social media. Diaz immediately watched it and was surprised because someone had recorded him in action.
"Yeah, this is me, but I didn't know I went viral," Diaz replied.
"Hehe... just from browse, I found this. It's not just you, there are many, just swipe," Fani replied.
Diaz swiped the screen. He watched the next video and the next until they were all done, then returned the smartphone to Fani.
"I just found out, there are actually many like us, hehe," Diaz replied.
"Yep, that's why I saved them, just in case we meet them," Fani replied.
"Yeah... that's true. By the way, we're leaving at 10 tomorrow, okay?" Diaz said.
"So I'm sleeping here?" Fani asked.
"You're sleeping on my bed," Diaz replied.
"Ew... what are you going to do?" Fani asked suspiciously.
"No, that's not what I meant. You sleep there, I'll sleep on this couch, it's the same, it can be a bed too," Diaz replied.
"Oh, I see. I thought..." Fani said, disappointed.
"Why the pout?" Diaz asked.
After chatting, they played together for a while and told Amanda that they would arrive tomorrow. After that, both slept soundly. The next day, they flew to Jakarta. When they arrived at Jakarta International Airport,
"How do we get to Amanda's boarding house?" Fani asked.
"I have a car. I have a license. We'll take my car," Diaz replied.
"Huh, a car?" Fani asked.
"Yes, we'll pick up my car first. I have a house in Tangerang. We'll go there first, then to Manda's place," Diaz replied.
"Wow... I thought you were going to rent a room because you didn't have a place. Then why are you renting a room?" Fani asked.
"First, because the campus is close to Manda's place. Second, I don't want to live at home. Third, many people are after me, it's safer at Manda's place," Diaz replied.
"Huh, many people are after you? Who are you, really?" Fani asked.
Diaz briefly told Fani who he was and a glimpse of his story, and Fani listened enthusiastically.
"Is that so? You're quite pitiful..." Fani replied.
"Pitiful how? I told you, I play FPS in real life, hahaha. Besides, it's safe as long as I'm alone," Diaz replied.
"Don't worry, if I'm with you, it'll definitely be safe, hehe," Fani replied.
"What do you mean?" Diaz asked.
"I mean, I can take care of myself, no need to worry," Fani replied.
"So you're going to stick with me forever?" Diaz asked.
"Well, who else do I know, only you and Manda..." Fani replied.
"Haaah... alright then, let's find a taxi first, we can't order online here," Diaz replied.
They both walked out of the airport and took a taxi that was ready and waiting for passengers in the forecourt. After arriving at Diaz's house, they took the car, whose license plate matched the date, then off to Amanda's boarding house.
"And then my car got wrecked when we got here," Diaz added.
"It's okay, you're rich, Oppa..." Indra teased.
"Don't call me Oppa, I'm not from there, I'm from next door," Diaz replied.
"You said you lived in the land of sakura until you were 15, right?" Amanda asked.
"Yes, my name there was Takeda Yasha..." Diaz replied.
"Huh, Takeda? Hey, Shin is also Takeda..." Amanda replied, pointing to Shin next to her.
"Wow... are you my ancestor?" Diaz asked, looking at Shin.
Shin seemed to whisper to Amanda, then Amanda chuckled and looked back at Diaz in front of her.
"He doesn't remember and he doesn't want to be called an ancestor," Amanda replied.
"Hahahaha... this is funny, so everyone here is mixed-blood, huh?" Indra replied.
"Yup... everyone without exception," Alex added.
"I don't know who my parents are, but many people suddenly started talking to me in English when I was in Bali, saying I looked like people from their country," Fani said.
"I'm pure local," Nara retorted.
"What do you mean pure local? Half local, half supernatural, even worse," Indra said.
"You're mean," Nara retorted.
Everyone immediately laughed upon hearing this. After that, Amanda showed them their respective rooms, and everyone went inside to put away their belongings. After that, they had dinner together by ordering food online. After eating, they went to their rooms to rest because it was already late.
