Chapter 10 - Potion [1]

"Using an Elite monster core for your first time, you are really lucky." Amelia congratulated him with some envy.

Shane, who was immersed in his world the entire time without caring about their conversation, opened his mouth for the first time, "Wow, is this how nobles take potions, I can't believe this method exists."

"What did you find, Shane?" Amelia and Head asked.

They had never seen Shane lose his composure, so they were a little surprised.

"This is simply perfection! I wish I knew this kind of technique existed early."

Seeing Shane wasn't even listening to them, Head hardly slapped him on the head.

"Why did you slap me? Can't you see I'm researching?"

"We are talking to you, and you did not listen to our question."

"I'm sorry, I forgot in excitement."

"So, what did you find?" Amelia asked.

"Amelia, how did I make your potion for you?"

"Well, you extracted the core's essence and combined them with spirituality and auxiliary materials to make them."

"Exactly, but with these materials given by Nova, I don't need to use spirituality to combine essence and auxiliary materials."

"You know what that means? We can extract almost every single drop of essence without wasting anything and get the greatest benefit."

Everyone opened their mouths in surprise, even Nova. Although Nova didn't know many things about labyrinth, he knew almost everything about potions and how to use them.

Potions made by potion makers are divided by their quality. The top-quality potions available for the general public only have eighty percent efficiency, meaning one can only get eighty percent of the benefits from the materials.

But from Shane's explanation, the materials given by Eric had the miracle of extracting one hundred percent of the essence.

"Since you found the method, does that mean we can get rich? Can we start a business from this?" Head asked, unable to contain his excitement. His hands and legs were shivering in excitement.

"That is.. not possible." Shane hesitated a little and replied. "This set of auxiliary material combinations is only applicable for Toxsona and it also requires a specific amount of each material."

"If I have enough time and money, maybe I could figure that out after a long time, but it's not worth it, at least not for ordinary people like us."

Hearing this, everyone fell silent. They could probably understand Shane's frustration. A method to get rich is right in front of them, but they're not the chosen one's; It's a bitter pill to swallow.

'So that's why Eric gave it to me without caring anything.'

'It seems this method is exclusive to nobles. Maybe the other major factions and the royal family also have something similar.'

Nova guessed the noble families and others might use this method to keep everything under their control.

Nova sighed and stopped his train of thought. He didn't want to get consumed by his own jealousy and envy.

"Nova, take this. There is no problem with the materials." Shane handed him the bag and continued, "But keep an eye on the potion maker, I don't know about her character."

"Okay, I'll come back." Nova nodded and moved towards Lana's tent.

He also understood Shane's concern, although he didn't think they would do something with the potion, he decided to follow Shane's advice.

'It's better to be safe than sorry.'

"Miss Lana, I'm here," Nova called out loud after reaching her tent.

"Come inside." Only a voice invited Nova.

'Sigh, I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to go inside a lady's tent? Whatever, I'm not at fault.'

"Miss Lana," Nova called again after stepping inside the tent.

To his surprise, Dave was already inside the tent.

"Wow, Nova, you are on time. It's surprising for an explorer to have this habit."

Hearing Dave, Nova blinked in surprise. He obviously didn't expect Dave to start the conversation.

"It's something my grandmother taught me."

"Mmm, so what do you think about our team? Did you get enough information from the Shark Team?"

Dave suddenly asked, his smile disappeared, replaced by a serious face.

'Why is he asking me? Did he want to check my sincerity?'

Without being able to guess Dave's purpose, Nova decided to be honest, "From what I learned so far, I don't think our team can survive the battle against the King."

"What do you mean by that?" Dave asked without changing his expression.

"Sir, from what I heard, there is no understanding between the Shark Team and the rest of the members. The same goes for me too."

"I believe, in this battle, individual power won't help us that much." Nova looked firmly at Dave, "We need coordination and work together to survive."

"As for winning the battle, that depends on luck."

"Mmm, you have a proper understanding, but there are also things you don't understand." Instead of refusing Nova's answer, Dave calmly accepted it.

"You are right, we cannot win against the King by ourselves; at least by using orthodox means."

Nova wanted to interrupt, but Dave raised his hand to stop and continued, "We initially planned to sacrifice some of the members and weaken the King and continue the battle after adding new members."

Nova thought to himself. 'I knew it! We are really scapegoats, and from his expression, he wouldn't even care if he sacrifices everyone.'

"But that's not possible anymore."

"What do you mean by that sir?" Nova asked without mentioning anything about the sacrifice.

"You should've noticed the climate getting colder."

"Yeah, I thought it was my imagination because of my weak physique. Since no one seems bothered by it, I ignored the problem." Nova confirmed.

"That's the problem with our plan." Dave sighed a little and continued, "At the beginning, we planned to attack just after gathering members and gradually weaken it by repeating, but we planned this without knowing the full extent of its abilities."

"The King's recovery speed is very fast and it also gets stronger in colder environments."

"The very first attack made us realize our insignificance and we also realized it is impossible without absolute strength."

"So, from now on, we will cooperate properly and attack the King." With that, Dave stood up to leave.

"Wait. Wait. Wait." Nova hurriedly stopped Dave, "Didn't you just say it's impossible for us to win?"

"Well, yeah, I said it. But we aren't going to face it head on, we need to use our intelligence and kill it."

Hearing Dave's reply made Nova sigh in relief. Although he wasn't satisfied with anything that happened here, he didn't express it.

"How long are we going to delay?" Nova asked the most important question. He needs time to digest the potion and also needs to adapt to the difference in strength.

"It's impossible to attack today since it's going to be nighttime soon. I think we can delay up to a day and anything more than that is not possible." With that, Dave left the tent.

Nova stood there in daze.

"Since you know the team is not stable and there is also such high risk, why are you adamant about attacking it, you idiotic bastard?" Nova cursed out loud in frustration.

It was only after a moment Nova realized Lana was near him. "Miss Lana, I'm–"

"No need to apologize, I understand your feelings and I feel the same way as you." Lana shook her and said, "In fact, most of the team members feel the same way."

"Everyone here is currently dispirited and already lost hope. Most of them don't have a choice and are still participating in it."

'What the?' Nova's eyes widened in surprise.

He obviously never expected their situation to be almost similar to him.

In the start, he imagined the members of Watson Aristocracy were using the lives of ordinary people to achieve their goals without any remorse.

But the actual situation turned worse, as things didn't go as they planned; soon they were also dragged into this mess.

"Since you are from the same faction, aren't you allies?"

"Allies?! Ha ha ha!" Lana laughed out loud. "Sorry, I never thought I would hear such a joke."

Soon, her laughter turned into a depressing smile, " Well, we are just servants of the Watson Family."

Nova stood there silently waiting for her to continue. He didn't feel bad or pity for them.

He also knew the Watson Aristocracy members were ready for the sacrifice plan. Well, they already killed five of them indirectly.

It was only after the situation turned worse, that their situation became like this.

'You are paying for what you did. But why did I have to get involved in this shit?' Feeling unfair, Nova complained to himself internally.
