Tristan's question hung in the air between us, sharp and demanding. My throat tightened as memories of that night flooded back—Gregory's pale face, his whispered confession, the world shattering around me.
"Yes," I finally whispered, my voice barely audible. "Gregory told me everything."
Tristan's blue eyes narrowed. "It was Natalie, wasn't it?"
The name sent a wave of ice through my veins. I stared at him, momentarily speechless.
"How did you know?" I asked.
"I've been watching her for years," Tristan replied, his jaw tight. "The way she manipulates Julian, the way she treats those she considers beneath her. When I heard about Violet's kidney transplant being mysteriously redirected..." He paused, shaking his head. "It wasn't hard to connect the dots."
I turned away, looking out the car window at the cemetery where my daughter lay. "She killed my baby. She made sure Isabelle got the kidney meant for Violet."
