Chapter 3 - Chapter Three: The First Step

"Who are you?" Finn muttered, his gaze fixed on Eric.

"I'm Eric— your father's best friend" Eric replied.

"What do u want? Why are you here?" Finn growled.

"I'm here to help you control yourself" Eric stated.

Finn stood back up, red energy glowing all round his body.

"I think you should leave now," Finn said coldly.

"I don't want to hurt anyone else."

"I can't" Eric said, his voice firm.

"Or else, you will be killed."

Suddenly, Finn roared. His body pulsing faintly not just with red energy, but a mix of black energy. He couldn't control himself.

"If you don't want to leave, so be it" Finn snarled, his red eyes became darkened.

"I'm not the enemy!" Eric said firmly.

"I'm only here to help you"

"I don't need your help" Finn fired back.

He dashed forward at full pace, claws out, aiming for Eric's throat. But...just before he reached him— Eric disappeared.

Finn paused. He was shocked.

"Come out, you fool" he muttered.

Eric's voice whispered near his ear "I came here to help, Finn!"

Finn went mute. He turned searching for Eric.

"How did you get to know my name?" He asked.

"I know you. I could tell you everything about yourself." Eric said.

Finn didn't like that. He roared again scanning where Eric could be.

"Come out!" He shouted, anger in his voice.

A gust of wind swept past him.

BANG!

Finn turned—but too late.

Eric appeared behind him, slamming Finn's back with the glowing staff. He crashed into the wall.

"I said i'm not your enemy!" Eric shouted, stepping forward.

Finn stood up, roaring again, red energy flickering around him.

"I SAID I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP!"

"He ran at Eric again—faster this time. Darl glowing energy flickering around his claws as he jumped towards him."

Eric raised up his staff. A glowing blue magic circle appeared in the air.

Then— it strucks to the ground.

BOOM!

The impact threw Finn backwards. He landed hard.

"What the hell are you?" Finn muttered, coughing.

"I'm your father's friend," Eric said, walking closer.

"And the last Witch Knight of my bloodline. I came to save you before it's too late."

"Too late?"Finn growled, still shaking.

"You just killed four people," Eric said calmly. "Your mother is dead. You awakened something

inside of you that you can't control. If I didn't come... you'd be dead."

Finn lowered his head.

The red flickering energy around him started to fade.

His claws shrank.

His dark eyes dimmed.

The horns vanished.

He was human again.

He looked at his hands— still shaking.

"I didn't mean to kill them…" he muttered, tears falling from his eyes.

"I know," Eric replied. "That's why I didn't kill you when I had the chance."

Finn looked up, confused.

Eric sat on a broken chair.

"Let me tell you something," he began. "Your name is Finn, son of a man named Aerin and a woman named Jezebel. You are seventeen years of age. Average in height, lean but strong, with black hair that always looks slightly unkempt."

Eric continued. "Your dark eyes dark holds a quiet fire even when you're calm. But when the demon blood stirs, those eyes glow faint red, faint black veins creep across your arms, and your claws and horns begin to take shape. Your father… was once a demon."

"Jezebel?... You mean my mother was a witch?" Finn whispered.

"Yes." Eric said.

"Didn't she tell you?"

"My mom?… she told me nothing." Finn muttered, his voice a little bit shaky.

"She was protecting you," Eric said softly.

"She once served under a demon witch named Seraphine. One of the most powerful witches in the coven… until she turned her back on them."

"Why?" Finn asked.

"Because she fell in love with your father. And when Seraphine found out, she sent her strongest warriors to destroy them both." Eric muttered.

"Who is seraphine?" Finn asked, eager to know.

"The demon witch." Eric replied.

"Hmm... Was my father once a witch too?"

"No. He was a demon. Not a fully....He was human, like you. But he made a pact with the demon coven known as the Black Pact Order."

Finn's eyes widened. He couldn't utter a word.

"Seraphine succeeded," Eric said firmly.

"She killed your father. And just tonight… she came back to finish the job."

"She killed my mom?" Finn whispered.

"Yes. And left her mark to make sure everyone knew."

Finn stood, quietly.

"Then I'll kill her," he said. "I'll kill Seraphine."

Eric nodded. "Maybe. But not now. You're not ready."

"Then train me," Finn said.

Eric looked at his eyes —and saw the anger, fire, pain...and potential.

"I will, boy. But first, i need to tell you something"

"What?"

Eric stood, eyes fixed on the broken window.

"You're not just wanted by Seraphine anymore, Finn."

"What do you mean?" Finn muttered.

"Words will spread about the boy who transformed. The one with demon blood and witch fire. You're a threat now… to all of them."

Eric turned to Finn, his face serious.

"Demons want you dead."

"Werewolves want your head."

"Wizards will fear you."

"And witches will hunt you."

He stepped closer, gaze fixed on Finn.

"You're not safe anymore...."

"You are wanted."

There was a brief silence.

"What is the next step?" Finn asked, he took a sharp glance at Eric's face.

Eric stepped beside him.

"We move....Tonight." Eric said.

"To where?" Finn replied, his voice cracky.

"Somewhere safe. Somewhere the Black Pact can't find you."

Finn glanced around his house—the burned walls, broken glass, the lifeless bodies and the bloodstained floor.

"I don't want to run," he muttered.

"It's not running," Eric replied.

"It's preparing."

Finn nodded slowly. He was exhausted.

"What if they come again?" He asked.

Eric turned towards him, his blue eyes shines faintly.

"Let them."

He held out his hand. A small blue circle appeared—a portal.

"What's this?" Finn asked.

"Where are we going?"

"Step through. Your real training begins now." Eric altered.

Finn hesitated. He looked once more at his mother burned photo near the door. His heart weary.

Then, he stepped in.

The Portal closes.

A shadow outside, stood watching. Cloaked in black smoke–Eyes glowing green.

"The little boy is alive… Lord Khazir won't like this."

Then it vanished.
