Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Uchiha Shane

Inside a room—

Shane slowly regained consciousness, his eyes scanning the surroundings in confusion.

'Where… is this?'

Just as the thought surfaced, a flood of fragmented memories surged into his mind.

'Ninja... Konoha... Uchiha…'

Shane quickly sifted through the memories. Word by word, familiar yet foreign, they helped him gradually understand his current situation.

There was no doubt—he had transmigrated.

According to the memories, the original owner of this body had the same name as him but was a member of the Uchiha clan of Konoha.

Uchiha Shane had just turned ten and was currently in his fourth year at the Ninja Academy.

And the reason he could take over this body was simple: the original Shane had just finished school that afternoon when he suddenly received the news that his parents had died in battle.

Overwhelmed by grief, he passed out—and died.

Then, Shane became the new owner of this body.

But all of that didn't matter much.

What mattered was that this world was none other than the legendary Ninja World—and what's worse, it was during the Third Great Ninja War.

If there's one phrase that could perfectly describe this era, it would be: "Human life is as worthless as grass."

Not just for ordinary civilians—even elite shinobi at the top lived every day in fear and uncertainty.

This made Shane feel even more insecure.

Even living in the strongest village, Konohagakure, didn't offer much comfort.

Worse still, the original body belonged to the ill-fated Uchiha clan—who, after the war, would face total annihilation. Truly, misfortune never comes alone.

"Sigh… I thought dying from overwork was already tragic enough. But now I have to go through this too…"

Shane couldn't help but feel speechless.

What's that?

You're talking about supernatural powers?

Please. Shane had already checked—despite such a major emotional shock, the original Shane still hadn't awakened the Sharingan.

You couldn't even call this "poor aptitude"—it was downright trash.

As for chakra?

Well, there was a bit.

But so, what?

In the end, what truly determined strength in the Ninja World was bloodline. The closer one's blood was to Otsutsuki Kaguya, the higher their potential.

Otherwise, at best, one could only shine briefly like Might Guy.

Shane had no dreams of saving the world.

He had a very realistic view of himself.

Maybe he had some ability—but just some. To think he could carve out a unique path like Orochimaru? Practically impossible.

"If only I had a golden finger*…"

After thinking long and hard, Shane couldn't come up with a good plan and could only mutter helplessly.

And then—

At the exact moment those words left his mouth, a faint blue, translucent panel appeared in front of his eyes.

[Name: Uchiha Shane]

Age: 10

Physique: 5

Spirit: 7

Chakra: 60 (125)

Bloodline: Sharingan · Not Awakened (51/100)

Skills: None

"This is… a system panel?!"

Shane sat up straight in an instant, all the despair in his mind wiped clean.

He was never someone who gave up easily—it's just that the situation earlier had left him feeling helpless, hence the temporary demotivation.

But now—

He still didn't know what this panel could do, but at least there was hope, wasn't there?

He glanced through the panel—basic info like name and age wasn't important.

But Physique and Spirit—

The former represented the potential of the physical body, including but not limited to: healing speed, neural reflexes, muscle density, bone toughness, and everything else related to the body.

The latter, Spirit, represented mental potential.

For ordinary people, a score of 3 in either was considered average. Going above 3 meant you had the potential to become a ninja.

His stats were:

Physique: 5

Spirit: 7

At first glance, that seemed decent. But in truth? Not so much.

At his age, a 5 in Physique was indeed good among commoners, but don't forget—the original Shane had Uchiha blood, so this score was actually low.

As for the 7 in Spirit—

It wasn't bad, but Shane figured it was only that high because he had taken over the body. Otherwise, it might've been just 5.

Otherwise, how could the original body have not awakened the Sharingan?

It's not like he didn't care about his parents—

In fact, the guy literally died from grief after hearing they were killed. That kind of sorrow wasn't fake.

Yet even under such emotional distress, his Sharingan progress only barely passed 50%.

Clearly, the body's talent was just too poor.

Now, this was Shane's problem.

After thinking for a bit, he still couldn't find a solution and decided to temporarily set it aside.

His eyes turned to the Skill section—completely empty.

Logically, since he'd merged with the original's memories, he should have some basic skills, right? But the panel showed nothing.

Even though Uchiha Shane wasn't gifted, he at least knew the Three Basic Techniques, which made this all the more puzzling.

If it weren't for the chakra currently flowing through his body's meridians, he'd suspect those memories were fake.

'Hmm… maybe it's because I haven't used the skills personally yet?'

With that in mind, Shane stood up and, based on memory, started gathering chakra while slowly forming the hand signs: Ram → Snake → Tiger—attempting the Clone Jutsu.

After the chakra was consumed, nothing happened.

Wait a second—

Shane narrowed his eyes and looked at the skills panel again. It flickered briefly before showing:

Clone Jutsu: Lv0 (1/100)

"So, it really was because I hadn't used it myself…"

He murmured softly as he stared at the newly appeared skill, then looked at the level and number beside it.

He guessed it represented proficiency.

To test it, Shane gathered chakra again and repeated the exact same process.

He failed again.

But this time, he wasn't frustrated—

Because the skill had changed:

Clone Jutsu: Lv0 (3/100)

That confirmed it—it was a proficiency system!

As for why the second attempt increased it by two points.

Shane assumed it had something to do with the memories in his mind—

Since he was reclaiming previously acquired abilities, the growth wasn't linear.

To confirm this theory—

Shane took a deep breath, calmed himself, then carefully recalled how the original Shane practiced Clone Jutsu—and mimicked it as accurately as possible.

Seconds later, a puff of chakra smoke appeared—and quickly vanished.

The jutsu still failed.

But the proficiency rose again:

Clone Jutsu: Lv0 (6/100)

Clearly, his guess was right.

This meant he could quickly "unlock" all of the original Shane's abilities and eliminate any signs of unusual behavior.

After all, the Ninja World wasn't short on mind-reading or soul-probing techniques—

If he slipped up even once, he could easily end up being interrogated by the Anbu.

While it was unlikely they'd notice him, it never hurt to be cautious.
