Josh and Kaen moved into the highest tier class in the school—Rank S.
The classroom was unlike anything they'd seen before. It was vast, circular, and made entirely of dark crystal walls laced with glowing runes. Floating lanterns shimmered in the air, casting soft blue and gold hues across the room. The seats were arranged in tiers, each equipped with its own magical console for spell simulation. It was a place meant for prodigies—and legends.
They walked in, and Kaen trembled slightly.
Surprisingly, the students didn't mock or stare down at them. Instead, a girl with bright, bubbly energy jumped in front of them, throwing her arms wide open.
"Welcome to Rank S Class!" she beamed. "You're highly welcome! I'm Lia—so nice to meet you both!"
Before they could introduce themselves, Lia added cheerfully, "No need for that—your names are already echoing through the school like wildfire!"
Josh and Kaen chuckled nervously.
Soon, the teacher walked into the classroom, and the atmosphere shifted. A silence swept the room. He was a tall man with silver hair tied into a knot, wearing deep violet robes that shimmered like starlight. His presence commanded respect.
"Today," he began, his voice deep and steady, "we dive into power application spells and elemental convergence."
He paced slowly.
"As mages, each of us can only wield two elemental powers. Mastery of more than two is not just rare—it's considered impossible."
He began explaining spells and forms. The class was filled with surges of wind, flame, ice, and lightning as students practiced. Some conjured elemental creatures, others launched precision attacks at simulation orbs.
Josh and Kaen kept up, learning quickly. Josh showed interest in combining flame with physical attacks, while Kaen focused on refining his fire control.
After class, Lia offered to give them a tour of the Rank S section. She walked them around the enchanted gardens, the dual combat fields, the alchemy labs, and finally the ancient spell archives.
"That's it for today!" she said, skipping off with a wave. "See you tomorrow!"
Just as the school day ended, and students poured into the walkways, something eerie happened.
The sky darkened.
Suddenly, a heavy silence descended—and then a chilling voice echoed across the heavens.
"Return the Demon Orbs... or by blood, I will bring ruin to Velaria."
The entire city seemed to hold its breath.
The gravity in the air intensified, forcing every student and teacher to the ground. Groans and gasps filled the courtyards.
Then, just as suddenly as it came, the pressure lifted. The voice faded. The sky returned to blue.
But fear... fear lingered in every heart.
Josh and Kaen stared at each other in disbelief.
Later that night, at home, they reported everything to Kaen's father. He listened closely, his calm expression slowly shifting to concern the moment they mentioned the warning that came from the unseen force.
Mr. Starks looked into the distance, his voice calm but heavy with history
"Long ago, the world was overrun by demons. They terrorized humanity—slaughtering people like ants, feeding on magic cores, and laying waste to cities. Not even the greatest mages or sorcerers could stand against their king. He was so powerful, he tore through human armies like a storm through dry grass."
Kaen and Josh leaned closer, eyes wide.
"For hundreds of years, darkness reigned. Hope faded—until a god descended. He was cloaked in radiant purple light, and when he appeared... even demons trembled. For the first time, mankind witnessed fear in the eyes of beasts and monsters."
Mr. Starks stood, lifting his hand as if seeing the past.
"With a swing of his palm, he obliterated half the Demon Empire—2,400 kilometers of land wiped away in a single gesture. The sky was consumed by purple light and black snow fell like ash. Then, with a final surge of power, he erased the entire Demon Galaxy."
Josh gasped quietly. Kaen sat in stunned silence.
"But great power always comes at a cost," Mr. Starks continued. "The god took the Demon Orb—a cursed core of immense power—and entrusted it to our school. He ordered us to protect it for all eternity. That orb... is the key to keeping the Demon God sealed."
Josh's eyes narrowed. "So... the Demon God?"
Mr. Starks nodded grimly.
"Yes. He appeared after the Demon Galaxy was destroyed. A being shrouded in darkness—his power unmatched. He challenged the purple-cloaked god. Their battle was catastrophic... the skies rained black snow, and their clash destroyed half the earth."
Kaen swallowed hard. "What happened?"
U"The god of purple light won—but the victory cost him his life. The Demon God was wounded, sealed, and vanished. But his last words before fading were: 'I will return... for the orb.'"
Silence fell for a moment.
Josh finally asked, "So what happened today at school—was that him?"
Mr. Starks gave a slow, chilling smile.
"No, boys... That was only his messenger."
