Chapter 10 - The Heavenly Change Map

CWhen it came to cultivation, one couldn't help but mention the cultivation system.

As a talented individual trained by the Daoist Sect's prestigious Wanxiang Dao Palace, Li Qingxiao, who had once been an insider, was naturally very familiar with this system. It was like common knowledge that didn't require anyone to explain.

At the Dao Palace, the instructor once mentioned that during the Daoist Sect's most prosperous period, there were six immortal lineages: Celestial Immortal, Earthly Immortal, Human Immortal, Divine Immortal, Ghost Immortal, and Corpse-Transformation Immortal.

As for now, with the arrival of the lawless era and the Heavenly Path almost cut off, the lineages of Celestial Immortal and Earthly Immortal had been severed. The Corpse-Transformation Immortal lineage had also nearly become extinct due to resource issues. Now only the Human Immortal lineage, Divine Immortal lineage, and Ghost Immortal lineage remained.

Li Qingxiao was of the Human Immortal lineage, but not in a pure form.

This wasn't an issue with Li Qingxiao's personal qualifications, but rather an environmental problem. Looking across the entire Daoist Sect, it was hard to find a few pure Human Immortal lineages.

According to records, a pure Human Immortal lineage only cultivated the physical body, not only not cultivating the spirit soul, but also not cultivating true qi, not practicing the method of inner and outer communication and unity between heaven and man. They were solely focused on themselves: training flesh, tendons, skin membrane, bones, internal organs, bone marrow, and blood replacement, until they reached the stage of indestructibility.

Therefore, the vitality of pure Human Immortals was extremely strong, able to regenerate even severed limbs, and their blood qi was incredibly real, like a sun, having a strong restraining effect on ghost immortals.

However, with the arrival of the lawless era, this path was no longer viable. Nowadays, so-called Human Immortals began to emphasize both internal and external cultivation, referring to the pure Human Immortal's physical body cultivation method as "external cultivation" and the Earthly Immortal lineage's qi cultivation method as "internal cultivation," thus achieving both internal and external cultivation.

In other words, Li Qingxiao and these new era Human Immortal lineages cultivated true qi. They tried to do both, but the result was that neither was strong. Whether it was external cultivation of the physical body or internal cultivation of true qi, neither could reach a very high level, naturally unable to compare with the past pure Human Immortals. It could only be said that they were making do with cultivation, after all, the overall environment wasn't good.

The high-level classics of the past were still there, and the Daoist Sect had already made them all open access, free to read. However, with the changes in Heavenly Dao, there was no longer any result to cultivate, just doing useless work. Only a small part could still be used, patched up, reorganized, and made to work勉强. Except for a few special individuals, there was no hope of becoming a Daoist or immortal.

Speaking of immortals, Li Qingxiao felt that Great Master Qi might be an immortal. After all, the time reversal magic was undeniable, she should be one of the few immortals in this world. It was said that during the Daoist Sect's most prosperous period, there were twenty immortals. As for now, counting Great Master Qi, having two immortals would be good.

However, this was just Li Qingxiao's guess. It was unclear exactly how many immortals there were.

Because all the various cultivation systems of the past were no longer valid, the realm cultivation became very chaotic. The Daoist Sect made a unified division, eliminating all fancy names, greatly simplifying it. Below the immortal realm, there were nine realms, all changed to numbers, from First Realm to Ninth Realm, with First Realm being the lowest and Ninth Realm the highest, just the opposite of the Daoist Sect's Daoist ranks.

Below First Realm was not considered part of the mainstream, and Ninth Realm was also called pseudo-immortal, corresponding to true immortal, while the true immortal realm was called Tenth Realm.

As for the realms after immortality, they had significance in the past, but in this lawless era, they had become remote legends.

Li Qingxiao was currently at Third Realm cultivation, slightly stronger than a Qingping Society Fourth-Rank member. In the Daoist Sect's prosperous era, it wasn't much, but in today's world, he was already considered a capable person.

Li Qingxiao returned to his room, took out the scroll given to him by Great Master Qi, and muttered to himself: "Using a scroll in this day and age? Too retro, right?"

Then Li Qingxiao unfurled the scroll and realized he was completely wrong. This was actually a painting, just with a shorter scroll axis.

Writing was from top to bottom, from right to left, and naturally, the painting was also viewed from right to left. Except for the starting position at the far right end, the rest of the painting was completely shrouded in a layer of mist.

Someone might ask, since it was shrouded in mist, how did Li Qingxiao determine it was a painting?

Because the three large characters at the starting position: Heavenly Change Map.

Beside these three large characters were several vertical lines of small annotations.

The general meaning was that the painter gathered many materials from ancient and modern times, both domestic and foreign, as well as their own personal experiences, and finally completed this painting, recording a total of nine aliens.

When Li Qingxiao saw the four characters "aliens," his heart couldn't help but skip a beat. Because he had been polluted by the so-called "Great Wasteland Heaven," and even his parents' deaths were related to this "Great Wasteland Heaven." According to Great Master Qi's words, "Great Wasteland Heaven" was an alien.

Fortunately, the images of these nine aliens were currently shrouded in mist, only showing a vague silhouette. It shouldn't cause serious consequences.

Then Li Qingxiao discovered that there were two different handwriting styles on the "Heavenly Change Map." The first handwriting was naturally the author of the "Heavenly Change Map," while the second handwriting was more like annotations. The two people's views were completely different, which wasn't surprising - I annotate the classics, the classics annotate me.

The author of the "Heavenly Change Map" referred to these nine beings as "aliens," while the annotator called them "Outer Domain Demons." Regardless of which term was used, it indicated that these special beings did not come from the human world, but from beyond.

Li Qingxiao suspected that the annotator was Great Master Qi, but then felt it wasn't quite right. From the handwriting, although it wasn't particularly beautiful, it was powerful and full of masculine energy, completely different from Great Master Qi's frivolous nature, seemingly a man.

Thinking of this, Li Qingxiao suddenly realized a problem. Wasn't he here to learn the "Supreme Sensing Method"? How did it become the "Heavenly Change Map"?

Could it be that Great Master Qi gave him the wrong thing? A Supreme Great Master shouldn't make such a low-level mistake, right?

Li Qingxiao, unwilling to give up, read through all the text on the "Heavenly Change Map" again, and finally gave up completely. Not only was there no "Supreme Sensing Method," even the word "Supreme" didn't appear. There was only a signature at the far left end: Beta Pictoris.

Of course, Li Qingxiao knew that "Beta Pictoris" was the name of a star - southwest of the Imperial Guard there is a large red star, shaped like a large horn, the gate of the heavenly army, named Beta Pictoris, also known as Gate Teacher.

But it couldn't be that a star in the sky painted the "Heavenly Change Map." It was probably that the author didn't want to reveal their real name, so they used a star's name as their pseudonym.

As for who the annotator was, the "Heavenly Change Map" didn't say. According to common sense, it should be the second owner of the "Heavenly Change Map." Great Master Qi was the third owner, and Li Qingxiao was the fourth owner?

Li Qingxiao shook his head. Perhaps the "Heavenly Change Map" was a valuable treasure, but the problem was that he couldn't use it, and it might even bring disaster. After all, a three-year-old child holding gold through a bustling market was just asking for trouble. He had only stolen a confidential file from the North Star Hall and was already haunted by the Qingping Society. If others knew he had the "Heavenly Change Map," wouldn't they tear him apart?

This thing in Great Master Qi's hands, no one dared to have evil thoughts, but in Li Qingxiao's hands, everyone dared to have evil thoughts.

Speaking of which, why did Great Master Qi give him the "Heavenly Change Map"? Without the "Supreme Sensing Method," how would he survive these three years?

Li Qingxiao sighed, planning to put away the "Heavenly Change Map." Unexpectedly, the "Heavenly Change Map" suddenly fused into his body without any warning, leaving only four small characters on the palm of his right hand: Beta Pictoris.
