Chapter 11.
Part 4: The Fall of Arcanhelm
Silence lingered where once the Council stood. The chamber was nothing but broken stone, cracked marble, and a faint echo of energy that refused to die.
But far from the ruin, beneath the ancient city of Arcanhelm, Kael and Lireen tumbled into a hidden corridor, their bodies scorched by the escape spell.
"This... this isn't where I meant to land," Lireen gasped.
Kael helped her up. "It's safer than the Council's blade."
Before them stood a sealed door, embossed with a symbol Kael now knew all too well three feathers: white, black, and void.
"What is this place?" he whispered.
Lireen stepped forward. "My father once called it the 'Heart of Arcanhelm.' Where truth was buried."
Kael placed his palm on the door. It opened without resistance.
Inside was not a room—
—but a hall of voices.
Thousands of whispers drifted through the darkness. Memories. Confessions. Forgotten names.
And at the center, a stone platform with a pedestal.
Resting on it was a final artifact.
A crown.
Not of gold, but of ash and crystal.
The moment Kael stepped closer, the chamber responded.
A ghostly image appeared.
An architect in robes of light and shadow.
> "To the one who broke the seal..." "You are not the end. You are the unmaking." "Wear the Crown of Echoes, and the world shall remember or fall trying to forget."
Kael hesitated.
Lireen's voice trembled. "Kael, this is too fast. We don't know what it'll do to you."
But the crown pulled at his mana. At his soul.
He reached out.
The moment his fingers touched it, a surge of visions flooded his mind.
---
Visions:
The city of Arcanhelm burning.
Lireen, bound in chains of light.
Kael, standing before a grave with no name.
A new empire rising, shaped by feather and flame.
---
Kael fell to his knees, panting.
"I saw... everything."
Lireen steadied him. "You don't have to do this alone."
Kael stood slowly, the crown in hand.
"Then help me stop what's coming. Because if we don't..."
He looked up at the crumbling ceiling.
"Arcanhelm won't just fall. It'll take the world with it."
A quake rippled through the floor.
The feathers back in the chamber above had awakened.
And the city had begun to burn.
