Shift reaches back to base and because he has deepened his connection to his powers from his trainings and battles his knowledge in how to use it has improved ,he can now store his suit in a pocket dimension inside the crystal and can easily put it on and take it off by teleporting it on or off. Which makes suiting up much faster and easier. He walks into the room where Jamie is they both start hyping each other up.
"Bro you actually fought a supervillain and destroyed him at that , that rocket uppercut was insane! I didn't even know you can do that!!" Jamie says as he was hyped up
"I know right it was crazy, I didn't even know I could do that too...wait how did you know how it happened" Kaleb asks confused
"It was all over the news bro! We watched it live it was so good"
"You're like a full fledged hero of Kalo...hey listen to this'"
Jamie turns up the tv and it's the news reporting on the situation
"There has been a rise in crime rate recently thanks to those powered people and not long ago there was an attempted bank robbery in Kalo City however there is what seemed to be a masked guy caught saving the police and taking care of the robber! Although I don't trust someone who has to cover their face it does seem like Kalo has its own Superhero and his name is...it cuts the the video of Kaleb in his hero suit and says "It would have to be 'Shift'
"Sooo cool!!" Jamie says happily
"I knew you'd use the name 'Shift' I remember from ages ago and had designs down since back then and I just tweaked them for now" Jamie says
"It's literally how I envisioned it back then in fact it's way better haha thank you bro!" He says to Jamie as they do their secret handshake
"No worries bro, also I've come up with the name for this place" Jamie replies.
"Oh yeah? What's that?" Kaleb asks
"The Sanctuary!" Jamie responds proudly.
The next week Kaleb is teleporting around his room finding his objects he'll need for school like clothes , bags , books and shoes , he begins rushing out the house but before he could leave his mum calls him back stopping him in his tracks.
"Eh Boy! I know you weren't just going to leave without saying good morning and goodbye" his mum asks him while his auntie is sitting there
"He always is zooming around even from young , always hyperactive"
Auntie Kat says.
"Sorry ma , been in a rush and gotta go meet Jamie but good morning goodbye see you after school! Goodbye Auntie Kat "He says while running out
Auntie Kat calls his name and stops him telling him to be good and to slow down every now and then and to remember what they always say
They both shout it at the same time "Stand High in Frightening Times" , Goodbye Kaleb" she waves and he waves back while pulling his tongue out at her as a joke.
After he leaves his mum and aunt have a conversation
"He never changes haha" Kat says
"You're just as bad! You always encourage him" she replies as they both laugh while drinking their morning coffee.
Kaleb and Jamie get to their usual meet up spot on top of a retail shop building and they greet each other and continue to parkour while they make their way to school from roof to roof.
"Aye Kaleb how's training been going with your abilities?" Jamie asks
"It's been going pretty good honestly I've learnt how to control my powers better and a solid theory about itt" Kaleb responds
"Oh yeah? What's the theory?"
"Imagination?!
Really?"
"Yeah! Do you remember the first guy I took down with the rocket punch?
"Yeah I remember"
"Well in the moment i wanted more strength and imagined a rocket powered gauntlet and suddenly one appeared
"Hmm when you put it like that then it does seem like it could be linked to the imagination. Have you tested it on the field yet?"
"Nah not yet but I will and by the way did you tweak your shoes again? You seem to be jumping a lot higher
"Haha you noticed that? Yeah I added more power and some new safety features. I also finished the gloves too...they connect to the shoes and gathers the kinetic energy I accumulate from parkour and can do stuff like this!"
The gloves light up and a small controlled burst of power erupts shooting him into the air as he cheers happiness in that moment
"and those safety features I was talking about are this!" Jamie says
As he descends it would appear that he would just fall however the boots create a surface of air allowing him to kick off the air and land properly without hurting himself
"Damn!! You have a double jump? If I didn't know any better I'd say you was the super hero" Kaleb expresses happily
"Haha I got inspired after seeing you I decided to take my inventions to the next level...gotta keep up with you somehow right?" Jamie explains
Jamie has an idea
"Hey, I want to have a race to school. You can use your powers and I'll use my inventions. The first one there has to do them a favor! It can be anything"
Kaleb excitedly agrees
"Okay let's go but I won't use the portals , get ready...set...go!"
They both start running and jumping around over different objects effortlessly it looks like they're flying free without a care in the world
Kaleb pulls ahead slightly and enters into a flow like state and gradually gets faster using more power and a lot more agile , Jamie sees it and lets out a wow in awe that his friend finally has the dream he always wanted , suddenly Kaleb was out of Jamie's line of sight
"Damn he is fast! I need to use more power and speed up or he will beat me!!.
On Kaleb's side he is still on his way to school until he hears a big explosion close to where the big K.R.A.D.D. The science building that did the experiment and people screaming.
'Oh damn! That didn't sound good! , isn't that close to- He thinks to himself
"I should go check that out" he says out loud cutting off his thought
He creates a portal going in with his normal clothes and comes out of another one with his suit on and starts making his way over to the scene.
"Get out here right now or I will come up and I promise you , you don't want that"
The bad guy , skin the colour of blood with black tattooed ink around it and shouts as he transform the pitch black ink on his hand into two huge cannons
"You guys and your stupid world experiments have done this to me and I want it fixed now or you'll all pay!."
Nothing changes , no one from the building comes forward and that annoyed him even more , so he starts charging up the cannons
"Fine, we'll do it the hard way!"
He shoots two balls of pure energy towards the building however just before they hit the buildings the energy ball seems to get swallowed up by portals.
"What the- who did that? Who dare try stop me from getting my revenge...Show yourself"
Suddenly there was an explosion high in the sky they look up and see a hooded figure standing on something in the air with the explosion behind him and two portals at each side
"Well it's not like I'm hiding" Shift tells the Red man
'Woah that blast was way more than I was expecting , I gotta make sure to be careful' he thinks to himself
The bad guy changes his hands from cannons to machine guns and starts spraying them at Shift and he starts teleporting away dodging them by going through various different portals and reappearing out of another at a fast pace.
"You know you shouldn't have temper tantrums right? , who raised you?" , you definitely had anger management growing up! Hey I'm not judging. I did too!"
"I gotta be careful where I teleport to as I wouldn't want a stray bullet to hit a civilian , what should I do?"
However the police arrive and start to secure the scene taking the civilians away from potential danger
"Oh that's convenient...except I bet they're after me too! Just like last time. Oh well we will deal with that after"
The tattooed man is getting more stressed and angry shooting more faster and bigger bullets
"You little shit! Stay still and get hit" he says
"Now why would I stay still and get hit! That makes zero sense" Shift claps back
"There's way too many bullets! I need a moment to think where is the best place to teleport to" he thinks to himself
Kaleb thinks back to his conversation with Jamie then stops moving and remembers him asking if he 'has tested it in the field yet?"
He lifts his hand up starts thinking of a barrier that will allow him to block the bullets
"This is a stupid idea right? This could either go really well or it could go really bad" Shift thinks to himself.
The bullets land and you hear an explosion as if the bullets connected to him and then a barrier appears in front of him blocking the bullets
"It worked?! It worked!! Hell yeah!" He thinks to himself
Using the smoke as a diversion he quickly teleports behind the bad guy with his fist ready then suddenly it turns into a rocket fist and he punches him flying into the front of a bus leaving him unconscious
"Next time find a better way to release your stress" Shift says smugly.
The police swoop in and handcuff the tattooed man and when they went back to look for shift he was already gone.
He makes it to school and Jamie is already there waiting for him outside the gate
"Haha it seemed like I was faster today even with your powers! My inventions win! Now the score is 6-5 to you, but I'm catching up though!"
"Yeah yeah you win! Although I had to detour as some tattoo controlling freak came out of nowhere throwing tantrums on the street" Kaleb explains as they walk in from the past the front gates towards the doors to their school
"Oh , that just happened? I was wondering what took you so long...so how did it go?" Jamie asks
"I'm sure it'll be on the news or TooTube, you'll see but just know I confirmed the theory , anyways as you won. What is the favor you want?
"Hmm I kinda wasn't expecting to win so I'm not even 100% sure I'll have to get back to you on that one" as they're in the hallway
"Alright bro cool just let me know" they make it to their lockers
"Oh yeah I forgot to give you these" Jamie takes out some sort of watch device and a ear piece
"What are these?" Kaleb asks
"Well whenever you're on the field there's no way to communicate , the ear piece will help and as for the watch think of it as a smart watch ,I can call you from it and even send you locations and such"
"That's cool! Sounds like it's gonna be fun" Kaleb says
the bell rings
"And on that note we gotta get to class" Kaleb says as they do their secret handshake
"Alright bro see you later".
