Franz stood in the training arena with his padded armor on and a training axe in his hands.
The axe was basic, a double bladed, single hand handle, and a basic design over all. The only interesting part was that Franz could feel something could be done with it despite it being a basic blunt iron axe.
It felt like his skills were calling out to it but he shrugs and simply gets into position where one of their families knights waited for him to prepare for a spar.
The spar was to see how much different it felt for Franz to fight with an axe using his innate skill, versus the sword that he has been training with for four years.
The knights and guards were all watching and waiting to see how powerful the young master would be.
The knight ahead of him, sir Kieran was a decorated Sword knight. Who was powerful and a high class. His sword skill was A rank and an innate skill.
So they had plenty of room to train and compare his axe techniques to his sword techniques as he got used to his new skills.
Franz breathed out as he got into a neutral stance. He was used to using sword so he began to wield the axe like one.
He began to ready his blade when a new stance filled his mind. Something that felt like it shouldn't work at all for swords. But was perfect for axes.
He leaned forward a bit, letting his axe go to the side slightly and squared his shoulders for an awkward sword stance, but it felt better due to the weight and shape of the axe head.
Kieran raised an eyebrow but shrugged it off as something from Franz's skills and rushed in. His sword came in with a basic stab to the center of the chest.
And instead of dodge Franz shocked even himself as a delfection technique filled his brain. He rose the axe head, and using the connection between the axe blades he catches and pushes the stabbing blade up and away from his body.
And just as suddenly he comes down with a cross slash as a counter.
Kieran ducks back and back steps rapidly in response. His leather armor having a new scrape on its chest area to show he didn't get away unscathed.
With a grin he yells out, "Very good Young master! Let's see how far we can push your skill growth in the coming weeks before the household tournament! You have me excited to see how far you can go!"
Franz grins and readies his axe willing his body to stay loose and be ready. Soon a dance began.
A slash from Kieran came at Franz from the left, he managed to block it and using the curve of the axe he deflects it around his body and comes at Kierans unprotected right.
Then Kieran spins and counters towards Franz from the side, only to have Franz swing his axe in an arc to clang his sword edge away, and use the momentum to swing his axe back towards the knight.
Kieran begins to sweat as he thinks to himself, No way is young masters Axe Mastery skill still at rank F! This feels closer to D or C rank! He might be the next genius we need for this household to grow stronger in the coming years!
Meanwhile Franz blocks and counters a few more blows from Kieran and thinks, I don't remember my skills giving my such knowledge to help me in my last life! Something is different this time around! It's actually helping me grow! Learn! And be more efficient in my abilities! I have no doubt now! These skills were given to me for a reason!
The spar continued for nearly an hour and a half before they called it as Franz was on a bench panting hard and Kieran was sweating a good amount from the workout.
He pats Franz on the shoulder, "Good work young master! You should be able to feel the difference in your skills now! I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do next!"
Kieran goes on the running track to train his cardio next while Franz is removed from his padded armor and sent to the training dummies next to refine the attacks he learned in his spar.
With a recovering body he eyes the training log set up and eyes the practice axe he has. It would never deal lasting damage to the log since it is blunt. But as he thinks about how to use it. Suddenly information from his enchanting and enhancing skills come into his mind.
Using his spirit he can enhance the blade or be stronger, and using magic he can enchant the blade with a boon.
He focuses on the axes as he holds it and thinks about how to make it stronger.
He feels the iron in its blade, the wood making the handle, and feels out how he can give it a basic enhancement to strengthen the Iron and wood, he also feels out how he can enchant the blades with a sharpness or a durability magic to improve the axe further.
Using his abilities directions he pulses the magic and spirit into the weapon, making some of the knights stop and stare at him. Many of them were unaware that the young master could already use magic, and they were impressed at his young mastery of it.
They saw his axe glow with a light blue aura as he swung his practice axe into the training log and cut at least 6 inches deep into its body. The swings continue as Seth rushes in from a report he got from the training commander at this field about his son suddenly using magic.
The Count was proud and shocked at seeing his son already use magic, and channel it into his weapon to cut up the log that was enchanted to be more durable than normal. He grins widely as his son methodically chops up the training log bit by bit, and even repairs his chipping practice weapon as he goes about it. Within the next ten minutes from the speed and force of his cuts the log is in pieces, and his practice axe is cracked and dented so badly it was barely holding together.
His son looks to his father and begins to faint from his first constant use of magic, and goes, "Look father! I... am... getting... stronger..."
Before being caught by his father and carried to his room to be changed and to rest up.
His father looks at his sons handy work and then back to the slumbering young man who he was proud to call his son, "You are my son. Now rest. We will help you control and train these skills up in the coming weeks."
He heads inside while calling the head butler to send a letter. They needed professionals to help teach his son these techniques. And he didn't have the masters for this training in his employ. It would be up to those he summons to aid them.
After all, they had a budding axe-master to train.
