Chapter 1 - Our Meeting Was Fate

In a cozy room, Ngoc Vy rested her head on his lap, leaning comfortably against the soft sofa. Her hand held the remote control, flicking through channels without pause.

"Hey, it's almost our time, you know."

Someone who had been absorbed in reading suddenly glanced up, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he smiled slyly.

"So soon... My little wife is already eager to—?" He deliberately dragged the last word, teasing, then pretended to cover his face shyly.

"Shameless!"

Hearing that, his hand began to wander, brushing back and forth over her body.

After a moment, a sharp sound suddenly echoed in the room.

"Enough!"

"Ah! Are you trying to assassinate your husband?"

"Oops, did I hit too hard? Hope it's nothing serious."

He smiled triumphantly and pinched her cheek. "I'm fine!"

"You're talking about the remote, but your head is so hard, I'm not worried."

His smile vanished, replaced by a sharp glare as he scolded her.

She coquettishly tugged his hand back and gently stroked his head. "Come on, come here and let me spoil you a little!"

"That's my wife—naughty and disobedient... but why do I love her so much?"

On the television screen, two well-known MCs appeared and greeted the audience with radiant smiles. Soon after, the scene shifted to an image of her—draped in a luxurious wedding gown—gracefully walking down the aisle beside him, bathed in the dazzling light of the stage.

For a brief moment, the male MC seemed to freeze, his gaze caught on her glowing, joyful face. From the audience below, countless eyes sparkled with admiration and envy, unable to look away from the picture-perfect couple.

The female MC, smiling brightly, began the interview. "Hello, the two of you look just like a golden couple from a fairy tale!"

She bowed politely, her voice soft with shyness. "Hello, I'm Vuong Ngoc Vy, currently working as the chief accountant at X Company. And this is my husband."

He paused for a second, stunned by her eagerness, silently cursing her in his head for being too quick—why didn't she just finish the whole introduction?

"Hello, I'm Phan Thanh Luong, currently a doctoral lecturer and researcher at University A."

The female MC raised a curious brow. "One's a lecturer, the other an accountant. How did you two first meet? It must be quite an interesting love story."

Without missing a beat, she cheerfully replied, "Actually, I was once his student."

Both MCs blinked in mild surprise. "Oh, so that means...?"

She nodded with a sweet smile. "Yes, he's six years older than me. If I remember correctly, we first met during his very first lecture."

At that, his brows furrowed slightly. His warm, steady voice suddenly took on a sharp, cutting edge. "You remembered it wrong."

For a second, the room fell into stunned silence. Both MCs and even she turned to look at him in confusion.

Did she really misremember... the very first time they met?

Back then, when Vuong Ngoc Vy was preparing to graduate from high school, she and her best friend were busy touring and researching prestigious universities across the city.

Standing in front of the academic excellence scholarship board at University A, she widened her eyes in disbelief, pointing as she counted the numbers on the score sheet.

"My Le, slap me really quick."

Startled, My Le turned around, slightly annoyed at having her peaceful admiration of the scenery interrupted. "Are you crazy? What is it now?"

"Just look! There are twelve perfect scores of ten on this transcript! Not a single subject below eight. What kind of divine being is this? He's definitely not human!"

"Oh come on, what's so shocking? University A is known for producing top-tier geniuses."

Ngoc Vy nodded thoughtfully, her gaze returning to the name printed at the top of the list—Phan Thanh Luong.

"Wow... it's a guy's name. Totally fits my ideal male god type." She clasped her hands together in admiration, eyes practically sparkling.

"Get over it, or I'm telling Minh Hao! He'll get jealous for real if he hears you say that."

"Hey! Whose side are you on, huh? Tell me right now!" she cried out in mock offense, pinching My Le's waist dramatically.

"Ow! Don't blame me! He told me to keep an eye on you."

Ngoc Vy let out an exaggerated sigh, clearly exasperated.

"Forget it. Guys who are that ridiculously perfect are never normal. If they don't look like stiff bookworms, they probably have some kind of twisted personality." Self-comforting mode activated.

If middle school love was nothing more than youthful curiosity and impulsive emotions, then Minh Hao—the boy she fell for in high school—was something much deeper. He represented a sincere kind of affection, a quiet admiration that bloomed without pretense or calculation. Minh Hao was the one who, with genuine warmth and patience, melted the icy walls around her guarded heart.

Ngoc Vy had come to him mostly out of gratitude and emotion. Perhaps he was the only boy she had ever believed could truly treat her well—and endure her flaws without complaint.

Suddenly, a faint noise came from behind. A chill ran down her spine, and for a split second, her heart skipped a beat.

"Hmph…"

The elegant, gentle features of the man standing behind her had turned stone cold. An eerie, dark aura radiated from him, sharp and strangely chilling.

Without thinking, she grabbed My Le's arm and whispered quickly.

"Let's go check out somewhere else."

As he turned around, his gaze happened to fall on a high school girl in uniform, laughing and chatting with her friend under the soft morning sun. Her cheerful, innocent smile carried a warmth that oddly calmed his soul. In that brief moment, something stirred in his chest—just a faint flutter, but enough to leave an impression.

The exhausting months of entrance exam preparation soon passed, and now she stood before one of the most defining moments of her youth. Her heart pounded as she stared nervously at the list of rejected applicants, which read like fallen leaves in autumn—so many names crossed out without mercy.

Her own score wasn't low, but there were plenty of others with higher marks. How could she confidently believe she stood a chance among them?

After nearly ten days of inner turmoil, Ngoc Vy finally took the leap and submitted her application to University A.

On the first day of school, as she stepped boldly onto the campus grounds, the wide front gate felt like it had opened just for her—welcoming this year's fresh-faced newcomer with open arms.

The security guard smiled warmly and waved her over. In that moment, she actually thought.

"This school isn't so bad. Even the security guard is friendly and sweet."

Unfortunately, that thought didn't even last a full second before reality hit.

"Young lady, students should use the side entrance. This gate is for faculty only."

Ouch. So, she had just embarrassed herself? How painfully awkward.

"But what about him?" she stammered, forcing a smile as she pointed toward the tall young man who had just walked through ahead of her.

The man in question froze mid-step.

Seeing her confused expression, the guard chuckled kindly. "That's one of our lecturers, dear."

Ngoc Vy felt her entire face flush. Her cheeks burned with embarrassment as she scratched her head, utterly flustered. "I… see. Sorry. Which way should I go then?"

"You'll need to go around this path and enter through the main hall in Block B."

"Thank you," she murmured, bowing politely before hurrying off, mumbling under her breath, "Why can't students enter through the main gate? This is so unfair!"

From not far away, someone had been silently watching the entire exchange. The corner of his lips curled ever so slightly.

Truly, what a fateful encounter.

At that moment, Phan Thanh Luong had already recognized her—but she hadn't recognized him at all. Her fate began... the moment she accidentally called him "that weirdo guy."
