Chapter 18 - 18. Madness

Thud, thud, thud!

The sound of footsteps echoed in the cave as the miners came from all directions, surrounding him with icy gazes.

"Who are you? How dare you invade King Clay's mine? We will let you live if you surrender willingly, but if you don't, you will die here today." An old man said as he stepped forward among the crowd, his face displaying a fierce intent even as he sneered. "Think carefully, lad; I can see your parents didn't teach you discipline, but this is for your own good."

Leo remained silent as he looked at the thousands of miners surrounding him. Even as his face darkened, his expression grew even more colder, without speaking a word.

This made the miners' faces even grimmer than the last, as they all gave a disdainful snort. "Arrogant fool." They didn't know what the old man had just said would cost their lives.

Hearing the words of the miners, his expression grew even colder as he moved forward in a blur of motion, as mana power crackled around him. He jumped into the air and sent a kick to the old man who just spoke. Boom! He was sent flying over 20 meters away, crashing into the earthen wall as he lost consciousness.

Gasps... (_﹏_; )

"Come!" Leo said with a voice that sounded like a growl. This was the first word he had said after his arrival. Even before they could respond, they heard a thunderous boom as two more people were sent flying.

Coming back to their senses, they roared in unison, creating a thunderous sound wave as they charged at him in fury,

Seeing this a cruel smile spread across his face as he let out a laugh, startling all the miners. They didn't know that they were mere pawns in Leo's game of rage.

The rage from being abandoned by his father, from witnessing the death of his mother, from being consumed by his inability to exact revenge. This anger had been building inside him all this while, and now he couldn't contain it anymore.

As he let out a roar of anger that dispelled the sound wave of the thousands of people combined, he was consumed by madness. All these miners had become an embodiment of Mr Hu in his mind, driving him to go berserk in fury. He let out another roar as he threw 5 punches in a row with loud booms. Over 10 people were sent flying, even as they coughed out blood, sending the miners behind them flying with them.

Boom....Boom....Boom....Boom....Boom! Thunderous booms continued to echo, Accompanied by roars of anger.

At this moment, he didn't care about the earth crystals; what was in his mind now was to slaughter. It kept roaring in his head: kill...kill...kill...!!

Die! He roared once more as he grabbed a miner's head. Even as his face paled from fright, he received a powerful blow on his head, causing it to explode. This was the first miner who had died in this battle, which caused fear to gnaw into the minds of the remaining miners.

The weak-willed ones began to escape, they knew they were not Leo's match, they wouldn't sacrifice their lives for King Clay. After taking the life of one miner, Leo seemed to calm down a bit, but his eyes were still red, displaying a terrifying, murderous intent that came from a person who had just killed without remorse. He charged at the fleeing miners with a loud battle cry: "All of you die, die, die, die!!" Boom!

As the miners escaped, they saw their fellow miners flying toward them, each missing a part of their body. This caused some of them to lose control as they peed their pants even as they cried. They feared death, but they didn't stop running for their lives. Anytime they heard a roar, a shriek of despair would follow, causing those fleeing faces to pale. Someone started roaring, "Lord! Lord Clone, save us, please. Lord Clone, save us!" Hearing the roar of their fellow miners, they all joined in roaring this desperate plea filled with despair and hope: "Please, Lord Clone, save us."

Leo was consumed by madness in this moment. He didn't know what had gotten over him, but he felt an unbridled ferocity and he liked it. This urge, this feeling - he didn't know how to describe it, but he could only use one word: "bloodlust." With another roar, he charged to his next victim, got hold of his head, and with a swift twist, he separated the head from the body, causing blood to gush over his face.

If one looked at him now, he looked like a demon who had descended on this world; his mana was no longer golden but a dark purple. He stuck out his tongue and licked the blood from the corner of his lips, his eyes gleaming with a ferocity. The miners cowered in terror, some crying and bowing their heads in desperation.

"Oh, great demon lord, please spare us! We know we were wrong," they begged. If you spare this little one, I promise to serve you till the day..." An old man was saying before he heard a cold snort, which made a shiver run down his spine. I... The old man prostrated himself on the ground, hitting his forehead on the earth in worship. "Lord Clone, thank goodness you are here. Please save us," he said, without daring to raise his head.

Just then, a middle-aged man emerged from the shadows behind Leo and launched a surprise attack, sending Leo flying over 50 feet. Leo quickly regained his footing with a roar, stomping his feet on the ground. He jumped into the air and landed steadily, his eyes locked onto the middle-aged man. His pupils shrank, but a hint of caution flickered in his gaze as he let out a cold snort.
