Alaesa Calanis was a Queen, a 'goddess' among her people. From an early age she had displaced more talents than any elves in both worlds. When her 'siblings' tried to 'crush' her for the throne, she turned their scheme back against them. This has left her with no brother but only an older 'sister' who 'fled' the palace to 'live' her 'romance'.
When her 'peers' aimed for the top she aimed for the stars themself. She was at the top of all exams and tests. She was more than just a model student, more than a princess or a queen. She 'graduated' earlier with distinction and the praises of her teachers. Her research in magic pushed back the limits of what was known and believed to be possible. Lower species were pulling their hair out just to understand a fraction of her work.
She was the perfect embodiment of what it meant to be an elf. She was slightly taller than the average elf, her body was the definition of fertility, long blond hair reaching her lower back. Piercing green eyes that were deeper than any precious stone. People worshiped the ground she walked on. She forgot how many proposals she got, it was a daily occurrence for her. It was like asking someone if they remember how many bread they ate in their life.
Beauty, talent and brain, she had them all. She was perfect and only gods could be perfect, therefore she was a 'goddess'. It only makes sense. Even if the 'Priestesses' keep saying that she should be more humble, to fear the 'might' of the gods.
"Pfft" laughed Alaesa.
It was a laugh not befitting someone from her station but who will tell her that ?Alaesa Calanis was arrogant and truly believed that she was above all the others, in her mind, she was someone who deserved a throne in heaven. The clack of her heels was resonating in the halls of her palace, her long white dress flowing behind her as if it was moved by a soft breeze. She looks like an angel who just descended from heaven. Currently, she was walking toward her workshop where her latest experiment was waiting for her.
She was feeling excited. She was working on that experiment for the last 300 years, the "Fracture" not only pushed her research back but it also gave her new ideas and path to explore. Arriving in this new world was a novel experience. Not a good one, just new. Humans were changing too fast and were so unrefined. Dwarves knew how to appreciate beauty and art so she gave them a pass. Though they should learn how to properly dance, thumping on the ground was not a dance no matter how many 'meary' people tell you otherwise. She was getting closer to her workshop, she felt a couple of her wards passing over her and the door was getting closer.
She slightly sped up to get in quicker and once near the door, she threw it open and slammed it shut. Multiple barriers of different form, shape and colors were formed. Strange symbols resembling runes and scribbles appeared and disappeared in a slight glow. For the next 2 days the Queen didn't leave her workshop. The door was barred to anyone but her.

Alaesa Calanis was a Queen. She stood as the perfect embodiment of what an elf should be. She was perfect and saw herself as a 'goddess' . This is why the servants were now whispering behind her back. Her once pristine appearance was now gone. Her body was still a symbol of fertility but her noble features were now gone. Her once blonde hair turned white, her piercing green eyes that were deeper than any precious stone are now 'hidden', bloody bandages covering them. Faint bloody traces were present around her eye sockets as if something or someone tried to claw them out.
She, who once stood proud, declaring herself above everyone, was now kneeling in front of the status of the divinities of her peoples. Her hands joined firmly together, her fingers white from the pressure she was exerting on them. As if she was scared her hands would 'magically' be separated. The Priestesses were watching her from the side, listening to her strange muttering. They were a mix of prayers and apologies toward the gods. She was scared but they didn't know what scared her so much.
Hours went by. Knights, nobles and even other priestess tried to interrupt the Queen 'prayers' but nothing worked. Multiple times it nearly came to blows when a noble tried to order guards to stop her only to get blown back by the Queen. The sun started to settle in the horizon and the Queen remained in her position. In other situations, this scene would have been painted and remembered as the 'sight of a lifetime' but in this situation, it was truly a pitiful display.
As the last priestess was about to leave the hall and close the door behind her, she cast a last glance toward the Queen but quickly turned it away and left. The hall didn't settle in a silence. Murmurs and sobs were echoing in the hall.
"Forgive me… Please forgive me… I didn't mean to…"

Unbeknownst to the public, in a single night, 50 000 people died in their sleep. More specifically, 50 000 members of different religious communities died in their sleep. The cause of death varied from a simple heart attack to having their organs liquefied. Those who 'survived' the night were acting strange. The majority of them were reported learning how to play instruments, sing lullabies or participate in the new 'choirs' without rest.
The governments of each state and species were made quickly aware of this and reported back their findings before hushing up the matter. A 'Gag Order' was put in motion in less than 3 hours. Every article or post referencing the matter were shut down.Accounts were blocked or banned and some journalists were shushed.
You could ask why they would go to such lengths to hush the affair. Why should they hide such a thing from the public ? The reason was very simple, because the gods 'demanded' it.

"I need cheese burgers and a pack of 9 nuggets ! " yelled a young voice from the counter of WcDonald.
The kitchen was in a shamble, it was rush hour for the establishment and it was also Thomas Poirro first day as a 'cook'. Never in his life he had to move so fast just to flip some burgers or to hand out fries. These 3 first hours of his shift helped him remember why he went to get his diploma even though he didn't get the chance to get a job in his domain.
His wrist was aching from the repeated movement, he was sweating more than he ever did in a job and some of his past jobs were physically demanding. He wiped his forehead with his forearm and mentally repeated his new mantra.
Do it for the paycheck. Do it for the 1200€ paycheck at the end of the month !
Truly, there was no better motivation than money in every world.
