Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The sky split open without warning. A shroud of unnatural darkness swallowed the sun, casting midday into twilight. Birds scattered. Street Lights flickered to life. Then… Bang! A massive bolt of lightning struck the ground and three godlike figures fell to the suburban street... asphalt cratered under their boots and a nearby bus stop burst into flame. When the smoke cleared, they stood—a cold assassin, a careless mercenary, and a former hero. The mercenary smirked. "Well, well, well," he said, cocking his head toward the silent figure beside him. "Back in the mud again, huh... hero?"

Animals flee, and sirens blare from a distance. A squirrel watches them… then it turns pitch black and it vanishes into a manhole—the ground cracks under the weight of their fists. Dust kicks up. Trees splinter—the mercenary grins with blood in his teeth. The hero's eyes stay cold, calculating. The assassin watches as the fight plays out. They both get pretty beat up. "This is starting to get out of hand," thinks the assassin. "Seriously? You two fight like children." She starts walking, fire igniting beneath each step. "Save it for when we're not stranded on a corpse." She draws her blade in a single smooth motion, the steel flashes red with heat. "Keep this up, and I'll put both of you in the ground before this dump gets the chance."

All this is happening while a civilian records the whole incident, which will go viral."They just- fell out of the sky. That's lightning. That's a fire. Are those weapons?" He whispers to his phone: "I think we're being invaded…" Little did he know, his phone was a void walker. Voidwalkers take the shape of items and when they come into contact with a human, they consume—hich they devour. They turn the human into a vessel. The void walker steadily approached the trio but then the assassin shouted "What the hell is that?" Both the hero and the mercenary turned to face a normal-looking human, except his eyes were somehow glowing black.
