Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 Return to the Villa

"Saying you'll always support me, that's too much of a foul, isn't it?"

Saeko Busujima stood up herself, muttering softly.

"It's not a foul. I'm just stating an objective fact," Xu Lun responded.

In fact, Xu Lun truly felt nothing about it. Saeko Busujima's psychological issue was likely Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, caused by the complete eruption of her continuously accumulating guilt from her violent tendencies after she killed Hili Alice.

As for Saeko Busujima's violent tendencies, Xu Lun felt it wasn't a big problem; after all, she couldn't beat him.

Walking out the door, a group of zombies appeared outside the shrine. Xu Lun took out his katana and handed it to Saeko Busujima.

Saeko Busujima looked at the cold, gleaming blade in front of her, her eyes still showing some hesitation and struggle.

She trembled her lips and softly asked, "Do you… really not mind me, twisted like this?"

"Will you really stay by my side forever?"

Xu Lun didn't answer directly; instead, he brought up the battle against Hili Alice.

"Don't forget, I haven't accepted your apology yet."

"Your mistake put me in danger. Just an apology isn't enough."

"So, until I forgive you, I'll just have to trouble you to stick close to me."

Xu Lun once again handed the katana to Saeko Busujima. This time, she didn't hesitate; instead, she reached out and took it, gripping the hilt tightly, feeling its heavy weight.

Saeko Busujima smiled and said, "I understand, Xu Lun."

Walking towards the zombie horde, Saeko Busujima lowered her body, the blade slightly unsheathed, its cold, white surface gleaming with an arc of light.

Iaijutsu Slash!

Saeko Busujima swung her sword, swiftly weaving through the zombies, striking them. When she stopped, blood spattered from the necks of several zombies, and they slowly collapsed.

"This is it!"

Her swordsmanship became increasingly sharp; every swing took the life of a zombie.

"This feeling!"

Saeko Busujima uncontrollably smiled, a blush rising to her cheeks. After resolving her inner turmoil, she seemed even stronger than before.

Watching Saeko Busujima charge into the zombie horde and slaughter them, Xu Lun followed not far behind her to prevent any accidents, and he couldn't help but think to himself.

Are my words really that effective? Do I have potential as a motivational speaker?

In just a moment, the surrounding zombies were all killed, and Saeko Busujima stood on the corpses, panting heavily.

"How do you feel?"

Xu Lun helped her wipe the blood from her face, but he found that her current state was not quite right.

Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes had a strange glint, and her legs were strangely pressed together.

"I feel very happy, Xu Lun."

This was the first time she had completely let go of her restraints, and the mental stimulation was a bit more intense than she had imagined.

Saeko Busujima looked at Xu Lun with a somewhat dazed expression.

"Now that you've released your emotions, we should go back."

"Okay."

...

"Hey, you two were too reckless."

At this moment, Shizuka Marikawa was applying medicine to Saeko Busujima. The recoil of the sniper rifle was quite strong. Fortunately, her physical quality was very strong, and her arm wasn't broken, only some contusions. The more severe injury was on her chest, which absorbed most of the impact due to her posture acting as a buffer.

"There was no other way. Ordinary firearms might not have enough damage, and we only had one grenade, which we already used."

Saeko Busujima lay on the sofa, letting Shizuka Marikawa work. As the cool ointment was applied, her skin immediately felt more comfortable, and she couldn't help but let out a soft hum.

Despite such an alluring scene, and though Saeko Busujima seemed to have suddenly dropped her guard around him and didn't mind his presence, Xu Lun unfortunately had more important things to do and directly entered the Workshop.

(Workshop Energy Storage: 967.8)

(special Virus Infected Body - Hili Alice)

(5 energy consumed to complete data retrieval)

(1: Physical Enhancement: Physical body gains partial enhancement)

(2: Regenerative Evolution: Possesses high regenerative ability and the possibility of further evolution)

(3: Blood Flame: Own blood can turn into flames, reacting with air to cause explosions)

(4: Fusion Assimilation: Can fuse and assimilate lower-level infected bodies, producing new mutations)

(5: Queen Ant Will: Can control lower-level infected bodies to a certain extent)

(Warning: According to the Sacred Baboon Law, any virus experiments on Curly-haired Baboons are prohibited.)

"This thing is terrifyingly strong."

Xu Lun stood before the operating table, looking at Hili Alice's report with some astonishment.

During the battle, this special infected body basically didn't display any of its true strength, simply relying on its regenerative ability to withstand damage.

According to the Sacred Baboon Law mentioned by this Workshop, he was not allowed to graft virus-type abilities. However, Xu Lun had no intention of grafting these abilities anyway; he had a better idea, which would take some time.

"Scan that corpse again."

Xu Lun controlled the Workshop; data retrieval only consumed a small amount of energy, and with his current energy storage, he didn't care about this loss at all.

(1 energy consumed to complete data retrieval)

(Ordinary Corpse)

(Available pre-list)

(1: Relatively high developmental potential for intelligence / consumes 5 energy)

(PS: According to data retrieval: This human body has a father-daughter relationship with the special infected body Hili Alice)

"Family?"

Looking at the corpse of the middle-aged man, Xu Lun roughly pieced together what had happened.

When the apocalypse broke out, the survivors in the Hospital came to the morgue in the basement to avoid the zombies.

Hili Alice's father brought her here as well. Perhaps the people inside didn't dare to open the door, and he was refused entry for shelter. Or perhaps, fearing that his pleading voice outside would attract zombies, the people inside opened fire.

He wasn't killed by zombies; instead, a bullet turned him into a corpse.

Hili Alice, on the other hand, was infected. Perhaps due to hatred and pain, or some kind of protagonist's luck, she became a special infected body.

So, the morgue door was broken open, and the slaughter began.

After everything ended, Hili Alice was trapped in the morgue. She didn't dare to approach her father's corpse.

The reason, no doubt, was her uncontrollable appetite.

Only two days had passed since the apocalypse, and the empty morgue cabinets already proved its astonishing appetite. It was precisely because of this that she didn't dare to approach her father's corpse; she was afraid she wouldn't be able to resist eating him. And because of the corpse's identity, Hili Alice drove away all the zombies near the Hospital.

After that, it was the scene Xu Lun and Saeko Busujima encountered upon their arrival.

Xu Lun softly said to Hili Alice on the operating table, "Don't worry, you won't die so unjustly while protecting your father. I'll arrange a better resting place for you."

Xu Lun didn't regret killing her; he only felt a trace of killing intent towards the instigator of the virus.

"Is there something wrong with your mental state? Why are you talking to a corpse?"

Banana floated over, asking in a flat mechanical voice.

"Artificial retard, your intern prefix seems to need to stay for a while longer," Xu Lun threatened with a blank expression.

"I'm clearly concerned about your physical condition, why are you scolding me?" Banana asked, puzzled.

"When you understand the reason yourself, I won't call you an artificial retard anymore."

Xu Lun waved his hand, not giving it another chance to ask questions, and bid farewell to Banana.
