Chapter 6 - Golden Hall

After the commotion died down, Sion looked at Mei Li, who was watching him curiously.

"Do you want to sell that?" Mei Li asked when she saw what Sion was holding, imagining that it was the remains of the bear she had seen Sion fight earlier.

"Yes, can you sell the meat here?"

"Sure, follow me, and I'll show you how." Mei Li said excitedly as she entered the door.

She had found another way to pass the time, besides, she was really curious about Sion, absolutely everything about him.

The deacon's warning about the danger and conflict of this race didn't really enter her mind, in fact, she didn't care. Sion didn't seem scary to her.

Sion just followed her without thinking too much about it. If she wanted to help him, he would accept it. After all, he needed to understand more about this place.

As soon as he entered the door, he was surprised to feel the surrounding energy increase. The density had increased threefold compared to outside.

It was still far from the density of the forest, but Sion felt much better.

His adaptive core absorbed that energy at an even faster rate, as if it wanted to swallow all the energy immediately.

Mei Li, seeing Sion stop just after passing through the door with a surprised look on his face, smiled.

"Did you notice? This is normal in all the shops in the Golden Hall. They all have a matrix that gathers the Qi from the environment. In this way, many treasures are better preserved. Although this formation is only at the lowest level, it is still quite surprising."

"Probably only the shop across the street has something similar in this city."

Sion listened attentively.

"What is this Golden Hall? To be able to do that, it must be an important store in this place."

"The Golden Hall is one of the three great untouchable powers known to virtually everyone. Its origin is unknown, but it has been present in major cities since before the Rhyne kingdom was formed. And quickly, a store appeared in every known city."

"I've heard that the Golden Hall also exists in all the nearby kingdoms. In the Golden Hall, you can sell and buy all the treasures you can imagine. As long as they are above ordinary mortal items."

"In addition, the Golden Hall always charges a fair price…"

Sion was surprised again, an organization of this size… it was better not to cause trouble around here.

"Amazing, right? Well, come on, that's where you can sell it." Mei Li said with a smile.

Sion watched Mei Li closely.

'Why are you so happy?'

He couldn't understand this girl's thoughts.

Sion walked up to an elderly woman behind a large golden counter. Sion saw that it was some kind of wood, probably very expensive.

"Good afternoon, young master, are you here to buy or sell?"

Despite Sion's attire, the old woman did not judge him. In fact, she was looking at him with favor. She had seen everything that had happened outside her shop.

Now that Sion had come closer, she had confirmed what she wanted.

"I want to sell these pieces of meat."

Sion said as he placed the beast skin on the table and opened it. Inside were several pounds of frozen meat.

The old woman estimated the price instantly.

"Fierce bear meat in perfect condition. Five silver coins per kilo. Here you go!" said the old woman, placing thirty-five coins on the counter.

Sion looked at Mei Li, who nodded.

The old woman saw the interaction between the two and found it amusing.

Sion took the coins and then asked.

"Are there any clothes here? I can't stand wearing these rags anymore."

The old woman didn't answer, but Sion suddenly saw a piece of black clothing appear on the counter out of nowhere. It looked similar to the clothes the people in the city wore, but it wasn't as heavy.

"How?" Sion saw the clothes appear magically and decided to ask about it later.

The garment was made of a thin fabric, but its quality seemed far superior to anything else he had seen in the city. Sion liked the garment immediately, especially the blue details on the hem.

"How much?" Sion asked, deciding to take it.

"No, this is for you, a welcome gift." The old woman said, smiling at Sion.

Sion thought he hadn't understood correctly and was about to ask the old woman to repeat herself, but he noticed that she was looking into his eyes, just like Mei Li. She didn't seem to have been affected in the slightest.

"Come on, take it. If she says it's a gift, there's no reason to refuse. Don't just stand there," Mei Li said, picking up the clothes from the counter and placing them in front of Sion.

"Go through that second door over there, you can change there," said the old woman, pointing to a hallway in the store after Sion took the clothes from Mei Li's hand.

Sion understood and entered the door without refusing. Inside, there was a beautifully decorated bench next to a luxurious mirror.

After entering, Sion stood still for several seconds, looking at his face.

"So… this is me now? I still see some slight traces of my old appearance, but… I must be five, no, ten times more handsome."

Sion then brought his hand to his forehead.

"So, it wasn't my eyes that everyone was looking at… it was this mark. Is this something that everyone of the Snow Spirit race has? It really suits my face perfectly…"

Sion was satisfied with his appearance, so he finally took off the rags he had been calling clothes for the past few days. He looked at the rest of his body. Every detail was in front of his eyes.

"Hmm, I'm definitely satisfied," said Sion after looking at a certain part.

Sion then took the clothes the old woman had given him and put them on. It was standard attire. The sleeves went halfway down his arms, unlike the people who were covering their entire bodies because of the cold.

Sion looked at himself in the mirror, extremely satisfied. Now he really looked like a being from another world. The black clothes with blue details matched his pale skin perfectly. The blue veins appeared on his arms, and along with the snowflake on his forehead, it gave him a mystical appearance.

Then he left the room he was in.

Mei Li and the old woman, upon seeing Sion leave, were as if they were seeing another person. They already knew he was handsome, but this was an exaggeration. The old woman was surprised but soon returned to her normal expression. Unlike Mei Li, who couldn't take her eyes off Sion.

He quickly came up to her. Seeing her staring at his face, he interrupted her.

"Handsome, right?" Sion asked with a smug smile.

"Yes!" Mei Li replied in a trance. Soon after, she recovered and realized the situation, her expression quickly changing to embarrassment as she looked away from Sion.

"Convinced!" she said under her breath, but Sion heard her and continued smiling.

Sion then looked at the old woman.

"Thank you! Since it's a gift, I'll accept the clothes, but why would you give me something like this?" Sion's smile disappeared as he asked, looking seriously at the old woman.

Sion knew that it didn't make sense for her to just give him these clothes for no reason.

"Don't think too much about it. I saw the situation at the entrance of my shop. This is my apology for you having a bad experience in front of our Golden Hall." The old woman said with a convincing smile.

'You saw? But I'm sure there was no one else out there who looked like you.'

Sion didn't question her further, but he knew it wasn't that simple, yet he figured the old woman wouldn't change her answer.

"All right! Goodbye."

"Let's go, I'm done here." Sion said to Mei Li, who just followed him without thinking much of it. Without realizing it, she was taking orders from someone with no cultivation.

Thus, the two left the store. Sion looked at Mei Li again.

"Why are you helping me?" Sion asked with a serious face.

"I'm just curious, I've never spoken to or seen anyone from another race before. But you don't seem very different from me." Mei Li said with a smile.

Sion's face twitched slightly.

"How do you know I'm not human? Is it because of these marks?" Sion asked, pointing to the veins and then to his forehead.

"Yes and no. If I didn't know your race, I would just think you were someone with a type of Spiritual Physique. It's very rare, but it's believable. There are two people like that in my sect."

"That's probably what people with a little information will think when they look at you."

"But someone told me about the Snow Spirit race, so it was easy for me to recognize you," said Mei Li, hiding the fact that she had already seen him in the forest.

As soon as Sion heard the name of his race, he asked immediately.

"What do you know about my race?"

"Why don't we talk somewhere better? Follow me!" Mei Li said, walking directly across the street.

A four-story building as luxurious as the Golden Hall. At the entrance, there was a drawing of a crescent moon. With elegant letters spelling out the name of the place.

'Lunar Pavilion'

Mei Li entered the place directly, Sion followed behind. As soon as he entered the place, he immediately knew what it was when he smelled the various smells of food.

'A restaurant?'

There were a few people scattered among the various tables.

Mei Li continued walking without thinking much and arrived at the stairs. The two went up to the second floor, where there was a guard.

He looked at Sion for a few seconds and then at Mei Li. The guard then opened the door, bowing slightly.

On the second floor, there were even fewer people, as well as fewer tables. Some people, as soon as they saw Sion entering, were surprised.

"They probably saw the commotion across the street from here…"

Mei Li didn't stop, and soon the two of them climbed the stairs to the third floor.

At the end of the stairs there was also a guard.

Mei Li took the symbol of her sect out of her bag. The guard, after seeing the symbol, bowed slightly as he opened the door for the two of them.

Unlike the other floors, the third floor was just a large hallway with ten doors on each side.

Sion and Mei Li entered the first door. Inside, there was only a round table with two chairs, as well as a large window with the curtains open. Everything was extremely elegant and pleasing to the eye.

The two sat down, and then Sion asked again.

"What do you know about other races, and more specifically, about the Snow Spirit race?"
