Chapter 30 - a frenzy of bidding

The Rose Knights, the direct knights of the Rose Queen who was renowned throughout the continent five years ago.

Each Rose Knight is a seasoned great knight selected from among thousands, among them are even super geniuses like Roland who were recognized by Durandal.

They were the Queen's sharpest blade and the kingdom's strongest shield. This knight order, personally established by the Rose Queen, breathed new life into the dying kingdom.

Now, time has changed, the former peerless queen has long since passed away, and the knight order that once swept across the kingdom and was even feared by Emperor Ofis has long been fragmented and divided by various forces.

However, the bright red rose engraved on the shield is still the pride of every Rose Knight. It symbolizes the era of change, the era of hope.

"A Rose Knight's shield, starting price: one copper Moen."

Siegfried had never seen that era of hope, but how much people longed for that era, and how much they revered the Queen, could at least be seen from Roland at this moment.

The terrifying power of the Golden Knight was forcibly compressed within a space with a radius of less than two meters. The enraged Roland was like a dangerous can of nitroglycerin, a slight collision would completely blow up the entire auction hall.

"You bunch of damn bastards!"

Siegfried glanced at Roland in surprise. The genius knight was desperately controlling his outbursting emotions, keeping his aura from being noticed by others.

Frankly, Siegfried didn't want to bring Roland here. This irritable knight might ruin Siegfried's plan.

But that idiot Katarina would be even more unreliable, and Yang Jing had other things to do. The team was currently short-staffed, so they had no choice but to take on multiple roles.

He had made two plans. If Roland didn't lose his temper, he would proceed as planned.

If Roland did lose his temper, then he would activate Plan B, kill everyone present without hesitation, grab the money and leave, treating it as a one-time-only plot dungeon.

Roland panted heavily, muttering curses under his breath, but finally held back.

This made Siegfried look at him with new eyes.

Siegfried originally intended to use Roland's performance at this auction to decide whether he would be a mere thug in Siegfried's plans, or a core member who could be informed of the details.

"Hahahaha, I'll offer two copper Moens!"

"I'll offer three!"

"What are you doing? This is a relic of the great Queen from back then! I'll offer five copper Moens."

"I'll offer ten, don't compete with me!"

Mocking laughter and a series of malicious bids echoed around them.

Most of these people were affected by the great reforms of that year, and now they were frantically retaliating against the deceased Rose Queen in this way.

Siegfried found it quite amusing. Whether it was Earth or another world, such things were always the same.

However, as he was secretly complaining to himself, a clear and sweet voice rang out in the auction hall.

"I'll offer 100,000 gold Moens!"

"......…"

Silence fell.

The red wine Siegfried had just taken a sip of spurted out.

(Hahahaha, which idiot is spending so much money on this thing?)

He looked around to see what this big spender looked like. He had to go and flatter them, maybe he could get some money from them too?

A girl in a black evening gown with gray hair was standing on tiptoe, raising her hand high.

The smile on Siegfried's face froze. He rushed over in three strides.

"What are you doing!!"

"This is my mother's thing, how can it fall into the hands of these people!"

"We don't have that much money to buy it!"

"But according to the plan, we don't have to pay anyway."

"嘶~ah this...that's also true..."

Anyway,

No need to pay.

The host was stunned for a moment before reacting.

"Uh, the lady just now, you mean you're going to offer 100,000 gold Moens??"

Gold Moen, as the name suggests, is the official currency of the Moen Kingdom. One gold Moen is equal to one hundred silver Moens, and one silver Moen is equal to one hundred copper Moens.

A loaf of black bread on the market costs about two copper Moens. One gold Moen is enough for a family of three to live comfortably in the capital for a year and a half.

100,000 gold Moens... not to mention this shield, even buying this mansion outright would be enough.

However, before the host could get a response, a rather flamboyant voice rang out again.

"I'll offer 150,000 gold Moens!"

"嘶~"

Everyone gasped.

What's going on? Do they have too much money to spend?

Siegfried raised his hand, adding another 50,000. He had long wanted to try this kind of lavish spending, and it was rare to not have to pay, so he had to have some fun!

"This...this gentleman...are you...are you sure?"

The host was sweating profusely. He felt he had encountered two lunatics today.

"I must remind you that malicious bidding will be severely punished. You can still withdraw your bid now."

Siegfried took out his invitation and raised it high above his head, waving it at everyone, shouting:

"I am the president of the Lochiel Chamber of Commerce! I've taken over this auction today! Remember! My name is Lochiel!"

"Tsk, so it's that nouveau riche."

"Tasteless things, that's why I said this country bumpkin merchant..."

"Forget it, let him waste his money on this thing..."

Whispers echoed around them. It seemed that this deadbeat merchant was quite famous in the vicinity.

Seeing Siegfried's certainty, the host no longer hesitated and slammed his gavel.

"Since no one else is bidding, congratulations to Mr. Lochiel for winning this item."

The auction continued, with subsequent items being antiques, paintings, magical equipment, and other unremarkable items.

However...

"This battle mage bracer, starting price: 10,000 gold Moens."

"I'll offer 800,000!"

"This ancient Tulun Dynasty porcelain, starting price: twenty..."

"I'll offer 1.8 million!"

The four of Siegfried, each standing on one side, bid wildly, turning the auction into their own bragging contest.

Now, not only the host, but all the attendees were stunned.

What's going on, are they here to cause trouble?

Causing trouble on Earl Conston's territory? Are they tired of living?

The host was about to cry. These four people had almost monopolized all the goods of the evening.

He had wanted to stop the auction several times, but there were major items in this auction, and the Earl had specifically instructed him not to mess it up.

He had also thought of calling the guards to drive these troublemakers out, but one of the four, a tall and burly man, looked very intimidating. If they really tore their faces off, they probably wouldn't gain any advantage.

The host had ten thousand curses in his heart, but he could only swallow them down and continue the auction with a stiff smile.

Anyway, if these people couldn't pay up later, they wouldn't be able to get out of this mansion.

At worst, they could just hold another auction tomorrow.

Downstairs, Siegfried saw that the time was almost up. He put his finger on his temple and shouted in his mind:

"Hey, Yang Jing, can you hear me?"

Soon a cold voice also sounded in his mind.

"I'm here."

They originally belonged to the historian Shannon's organization, and after signing that contract, they could communicate directly in their minds like this.

The downside is that sometimes some private thoughts uncontrollably flow into each other's minds.

"Is the matter settled?"

"Yes."

"Thank you..."

"Trouble you to check where that rich merchant's vault is."

"Go away."

"(╥╯^╰╥)"

Just as their conversation ended, a black-clothed maid rushed to the host's side and whispered a few words in his ear.

The host's face clearly showed surprise, but he quickly regained his composure. He put on a warm smile again and said in a high voice:

"I just received some news, and we've decided to add a special item before the final item of this auction."

"Suddenly add an item?"

"What is it?"

"I don't know, it's not on the list."

Amidst the whispers, a scantily clad maid carried a strangely shaped glass vial on a tray to the stage.

On the transparent bottle, a string of letters that did not belong to this world was clearly engraved.

"Chanel"
