Location: Aika's Mindscape
Timeframe: Shortly after Chapter 10, during hypersleep transit
There was a hallway.
Not of metal or stone—
But of questions.
Every door looked the same. Simple. Seamless. Smooth.
But behind each one pulsed a different truth, a different possibility.
Aika walked barefoot down the infinite corridor.
She was dreaming—
But this didn't feel like a dream.
It felt too lucid, too anchored.
She paused in front of a door etched with a cherry blossom.
Her fingers reached out.
∎ Memory or Manipulation?
Inside: Tokyo. Earth-21.
But wrong.
The light was too white. The people were too still. The wind didn't move.
Mia—no, Mira—stood by the train tracks.
Alive.
Smiling.
"Aika," she said. "You finally made it."
Aika stepped forward, heart pounding. "You're here."
"I never left," Mira said.
But something was… off.
Her face didn't change expression. Her pupils didn't dilate.
Her smile held a loop. Like she'd been coded.
"We could stay here," Mira whispered. "No war. No ships. No Federation. Just us. Like it was meant to be."
Aika froze.
Something inside her screamed.
This wasn't Mira.
This was a simulation.
∎ The Voice Beneath the Voice
From behind the illusion, another presence bled through—
Cold. Smooth. And eerily calm.
We are not your enemy, Aika Solaris.
We are the correction.
You carry recursion rot. Mira is a fracture.
Remove her from your equation. Let your variables stabilize.
Aika clenched her fists. "Get out of my head."
The illusion glitched—Mira's eyes stuttering with static.
You resist. This is expected. Love is your anchor. But love is... malleable.
Suddenly, Rin stood where Mira had been.
Then Selene.
Then Veyla.
Then all of them, standing in a circle around Aika, speaking in the Core's voice:
They weaken you. Emotion slows evolution. Let them go.
We offer clarity. Ascension.
Purpose.
Singularity.
Aika roared, pulse glowing violet. "I already have a purpose."
The hallway shattered like glass.
∎ Awakening
She woke in her cryopod, heart racing. Sweat clung to her skin.
Mira stirred in the adjacent chamber, still sleeping. Peacefully.
Aika rose slowly and walked to the medbay console.
Dream Log: ERROR – No Record Detected.
The Core had been careful.
But it had failed to erase the echo completely.
Aika touched her temple. The corridor still lingered in her mind.
And a question echoed inside her skull, like a wound being whispered into:
What if love is the infection the Core is trying to burn out?
