"So tell me everything, Mr. Woods." Mr. Jackson spoke once everyone had gone to bed. Looking at him, I spoke, "Alpha King Cyrus is not your son and you know that." His widened. "I thought he was just a werewolf but an Alpha King? That's crazy. What's your position? And why do you keep following Clarissa?" He interrogated. "I'm his second in command, his Beta King. Your daughter, Clarissa, is my mate." I replied. He looked at me confused. "Clarissa is my daughter's friend but she likes to come here. That's why Cyrus calls her his sister." He revealed. Frowning, I remembered something.
"And that reminds me. What's the relationship between Alpha King Cyrus and your daughter since he's not your son? They are not supposed to be together because one day, sooner or later, he will find his mate and the fact that they're both sharing a room together does not sit well with me," I reported. Mr. Jackson stared at me for a while then replied, "I thought as a werewolf, you would feel it but since you don't, I will tell you. My daughter and your Alpha King are mates but they don't know it. They're still living under the impression that they're both siblings. The only difference is that Cyrus is more protective and possessive when it comes to my daughter."
"I think it's you who thinks they are living as siblings. They look like a married couple to me because tell me why my sister should be sharing my room, my bathroom, my closet, my clothes and my bed at this age." I said, chuckling. It was so clear that the King and his Queen felt the mate bond but because they didn't know what it was, they were just being with each other. "But why are you here now after all these years?" Mr. Jackson asked me. I sighed and replied, "Alpha King Cyrus has to take his place soon. It is time for him to ascend the throne. Alpha Kings are coronated on their twenty fifth birthdays. Our Alpha has been missing for twenty five years. All this while, it was my father, Beta King Matthew and his Queen who ruled but they died two months ago due to old age, leaving me in charge of Wolftown. A month ago, I met with our witch and she revealed to me that our Alpha was still alive. I have been searching for him since then and today, I happened to meet him."
"But he hasn't shifted yet. He hasn't turned twenty five yet. He will in three months. He doesn't even know that he's not my son and neither does he know that he's a wolf, precisely an Alpha King." Mr. Jackson protested. I replied, "he is the King. He has royal blood. He was supposed to shift when he turned fifteen years old on full moon night. The reason why he probably didn't shift was because he was used to thinking he was a human being so his wolf was asleep - he still is but I'm sure he will wake up soon. He feels the energy when he's fighting and he does undergo the changes; the colour of his eyes, his heightened sense of smell and hearing, elongating canine teeth and finger nails. Those are good signs that the Alpha blood is still dominant in his DNA."
"Is it possible that he can get my daughter pregnant?" He asked, sounding pained and I chuckled. "Yes and maybe if Luna gets pregnant, that's when he would start to notice who he actually is." I teased to spike him. The look on his face was priceless. Before he could speak, Aelia stormed out of Alpha King Cyrus' room with my mate laughing. "Such an asshole. Don't talk to me again!" She shouted and banged his door to a close. Mr. Jackson sighed, clearly used to this. "Seriously, Aelia, you are behaving like a jealous girlfriend when it was the woman who texted first and brother Cyrus has not even replied for what, thirteen days now." Clarissa laughed.
Aelia retorted, "if he doesn't have the intention of replying to the text message, why hasn't he deleted her number yet?" Any stranger would have detected the jealousy in Aelia's voice. "They are just siblings." I nodded to myself and chuckled. After they had gone to their rooms, Cyrus also came out and walked towards Aelia's room, probably to apologize or explain things to her. Definitely not what just siblings did. I had my own problems too now. I had to find a way to get Clarissa to like me. My wolf had gone quiet, probably hurt that our mate was scared of us.
"Do you have anywhere to stay?" Mr. Jackson asked. "Actually, I am the Head of the Woodland Security Agency. I came to reside a block away from here a week ago." I informed him. He looked towards the window and said, "it's night so get a room upstairs and rest for the night. Tomorrow, you can go back home." I smiled at him in appreciation. Once he had gone to bed, I followed the rose fragrance of my mate to her room. I gently knocked on her door. For a moment, no one responded so I knocked again and this time, the door opened to reveal my mate dressed in a baggy pyjamas, looking sleepy. She looked at me and I watched as fear covered her face.
Before she could close the door, I held the door. "Mate, can you please not be scared of me? I promise that I will never hurt you." I begged her. "The name is Clarissa." She gritted out. "And just so you know, I hate dogs." Glaring at me, she stepped back and shut the door in my face. My wolf kept whining and whimpering. The pain was almost unbearable because even though she had not rejected me, she clearly didn't like me. Sighing, I sat at her doorstep, leaned against her door and stayed there for a while, not realizing when I dozed off.
