Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - Saving a Life

Stretching my legs before opening my eyes, i was greeted by the daylight coming through the windows lighting up the room it was late morning if i had to guess? Out side i could hear people walking by going on with their daily activities.

I crawled out of bed and threw my clothes back on.

Wow I must have been tired to pass out like that, then again a lot happened yesterday,

Remembering everything that happened yesterday sudden I started to panic,

Dammit I slept to long people are going to be awake by now they're going to find out what I am! I have to go now!

Rushing out of the small bedroom I dashed towards the front door, I grabbed the knob twisted and pulled and just as the door swung I was greeted by Syllia standing there staring at me

"Fuck..." i mumbled under my breath

"Can I come in?" She asked with a straight face, not breaking eye contact with me

"Ah yeah.. sure" I replied a bit timidity

I stepped to the side allowing her to walk past me i shut the door behind her as we both now stood in the kitchen, an awkward silence hung between us i could tell she was observing almost like studying me as if searching for something non-human.

She spoke up breaking the silence

"There's a lot of things I would like to know like, how you beat that orc so easily, or how you healed me or.." she started to trail off, a blush appeared on her face, as she reached for her neck, she continued

"Or what you did you me, but none of that matters right now, what i want to know is can that magic you used on me also heal diseases?"

Diseases huh? That would explain what those herbs i saw her gathering were for then,

Hey system can I do that??

[Yes although it will be done through the use of 'Blood Cure' as 'Blood Mend only works on physical injuries, also the stamina cost will be greater depending on the severity of the disease]

Alright so I can but I might attack her again, no even if I need to feed I have to learn some self control, I can't just keep going through pouncing on people everytime I get hungry!

"Yes it is possible although there is a chance it will take more out of me,it depends on how serious the disease is, if it is serious...." i trailed off looking to the side

"If it's serious then what?" She said eyeing me curiously

Still averting her gaze i, I lowered my voice just above a whisper an spoke

"A repeat of what happened last time might happen... i have a hard time controlling myself when I exhaust a lot of energy.." I replied, feeling my face getting hotter

Her cheeks got instantly red as she swung her head to the side before speaking again.

"Th-That's fine if you can help ill deal with it" she said kind of sheepishly while trying to hide a growing smile

she really is cute

But that confirms it though, someone she knows is sick, sick enough where she would risk asking me for help.

"Well as long as you understand I can do my best" I gesterd towards the door

Behind the her embarrassment about our previous conversation and over all the curiosity about me I could sense it, bit of desperation and hope behind those bright emerald eyes

"I'm guessing you want to do this now?"

She just nodded as she rushed forwards grabbed my hand and took off out the door almost at a run.

That guard wasn't lying about her being close, we might have ran for 2 minutes before came to an abrupt stop infront of a house that was almost identical to the guest house I stayed in if only a bit bigger.

Syllia pushed the door open walking inside and pulling me in behind her.

The layout was the pretty similar to the guest house the biggest difference being all the decorations spread put, a beautiful bouquet of orange and yellow flowers sat atop the dinning table, all over the counter was dozens of different types of harbs in different containers, some marked others not, beside the herbs sat a few mixing bowls, herb grinder and a few other basic alchemy equipment. With the way everything is thrown about, I could tell she was...desperate.

Syllia must have noticed me staring as she spoke up

"It's my mom... she's been sick for months, I've tried all the medicine we have in the village. I even got some recipes from passing traders that I thought might work... but I was capture by that orc right when I found the herb I needed.."

Turning to look at Syllia I could see her lips start to tremble as small tears started running down her cheeks

"S-She's all i have left... i-i can't lose her too.." she choked out before finally breaking, letting the tears rush down her face.

My heart broke watching this, I pulled her into a hug and held her there as she sobbed into my chest, I could feel her trembling as the tears continued to pour out, she was hesitant at first but she eventually threw her arms around me squeezing me.

I started stroking her hair lightly, my guess is she's been acting strong, enduring all this by herself without anyone to really comfort her or someone to lean on. Seems talking to me was the last crack needed to break the flood gates.

A few minutes passed and she finally composed herself, fixing her hair that I might or might not have mess up, rubbing her eyes as she turned around facing one of the 2 doors in the back of the house.

"Sorry about that... it's been awhile since I talked to anyone about it.." she mumbled taking a few steps towards the door.

I didn't reply I just followed behind her.

Opening the door we both stepped inside, the room was dark, it seems like they have the windows covers shut almost all the time, probably to avoid letting people see in. On the far right corner of the room was a cot big enough for one person, white cotton sheets covered the poorly designed mattres. Syllia had been standing next to the doorway seeming to not want to go any further. I took another step towards the bed to get a better look, laying atop the bed was a women with the same light blond hair as Syllia, but that is where the similarities end. Her cheeks and eyes had sunken in, not being able to eat made her arms and legs look like twigs, her once beautiful and lively skin was now completely pale almost void of life.

"My god.. this is awful, no one deserves this" I said under my breath

Syllia must have heard what I said as I heard her choke back more tears behind me.

I slowly walked to the foot of the bed, looking over the women laying before me I raised my hand with my palm out stretched towards her, taking is a breath before saying.

"Blood cure"

Just as I finished speaking my hand glowed a bright red, but unlike before a soild red mass came out of me hand, moving towards her almost like tree roots growing from my palm, they began to spread out in every direction like a spider web creating a soild red cocoon over the bed.

Seeing this Syllia's eyes widen as she took a couple steps forward watching intently.

Just as the cocoon finished forming a blinding red light came from the bed, bright enough that both of us had to turn and shield our eyes.

Feeling my connection to the magic sever I looked back at the bed i could see Syllia's mother laying in the same spot but unlike before her face and eyes were more filled out, her complexion looked as if life got breathed back into it.

"I would say it worked" I said turning to look at Syllia

Turning and looking at her I could see her staring at me, her eyes open wide and mouth gapped open. After a few seconds the reality set in followed by a steady stream of tears.

"Thank you thank you thank you!" She yelled between sobs

She threw herself around me hugging me tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.

Standing there hold her in my arms i started softly stroking her hair.

It must be such a weight off her seeing her mother basically come back to life like this. I decided to use a appraisal on her to see her condition.

"She should wake in a few hours, going from how she was to how she is now she will need some time to get her strength back" I said in a quietly

Syllia just nodded her head not letting go of me.
