"Yes, Mr. Fu. The divorce certificate has been processed. You are no longer legally tied to Sylvia."
Nathaniel Fu remained impassive. Just the thought of Sylvia made his stomach turn.
The Emperor Star necklace, once worn by Sylvia, now felt contaminated—nothing more than trash. She wasn't worthy of it, even if it lay buried in the garbage.
And as for Celia… he wasn't planning to let her off easy, either.
His thoughts drifted to the image of her last night—her delicate, porcelain-like face under him, her long dark hair tangled across her cheek and neck like trailing silk. She was like a ripe peach—soft, fragrant, and dangerously tempting.
Even as she trembled beneath him, she stared at him with those watery, defiant eyes. She didn't cry out, didn't beg, didn't yield. She was stubborn to the end.
Did she even realize what that kind of look did to a man?
It made a man's blood burn. It awakened his desire to conquer, to break down all her defenses. Even now, the memory was etched in his bones.
"Leave me."
"Yes, Mr. Fu."
After another hour of reviewing documents, Nathaniel set his pen down and checked the time—it was already 8 p.m.
Why hadn't she come back yet?
Just then, Fu Yingying strolled into the study and greeted him casually. "Uncle, are you staying here tonight?"
He glanced up, immediately noticing she was alone. His brows furrowed. "Where's your classmate? Didn't she come back with you?"
"Cici? Oh, I saw her with Julian at school. Looked like they were going on a date."
The temperature in Nathaniel's gaze dropped instantly, like ice spreading across dark waters.
She went on a date?
With Julian?
Fu Yingying didn't notice the storm brewing on her uncle's face. She pouted and sighed dramatically. "I was starting to think of Cici as my future aunt, but she clearly wants to be my sister-in-law instead. Anyway, Uncle, since you've got nothing to do, maybe get some rest early. She's probably not coming home tonight…"
She trailed off when she realized Nathaniel's expression had turned terrifying.
"Uncle… what's wrong?"
"Nothing," he said coldly. "I brought you some practice exams. Go back to your room and do them."
"Practice exams?!" she shrieked. "I'm in college now! Why are you still making me do those?"
"Too easy? Then I'll give you two sets."
Fu Yingying turned and bolted from the room. "One is enough! One is enough!"
She had no idea what she'd done to make her uncle so vindictive.
Alone again, Nathaniel leaned back in his chair. He pulled a cigarette from its case and placed it between his lips. With steady fingers, he lit it, inhaling deeply before letting the smoke curl slowly from his mouth.
She went on a date—with his nephew?
Just last night, she was in his bed. And today, she's out smiling with someone else?
How impressive.
At 11 p.m., a fiery red Ferrari pulled up on the lawn outside Yipinlan Villa.
Julian Fu stepped out like a gentleman and opened the passenger door.
Celia climbed out slowly. Her face was still pale. She'd fainted at school earlier that day, and Julian had taken her to the hospital for IV fluids. They had just gotten back.
"Hey, Joker Girl," Julian said, watching her with concern. "The doctor said you're allergic to one of the meds. Don't ever take something like that again, alright? Go get some rest."
Due to patient privacy, the doctor hadn't disclosed details. All Julian knew was that it was a medication allergy. He didn't realize it was a contraceptive.
Celia gave him a weak smile and nodded. "Thank you for everything today, Mr. Fu."
Just then, her gaze instinctively lifted.
She froze.
A tall, cold figure was standing silently on the carved balcony of the second floor—Nathaniel Fu.
He had been watching her the whole time.
