Chapter 7 - Heat between shadows: between teeth and tongue.

The air still wasn't cool after Lyria's kiss.

If anything, the forest had gotten hotter. Wetter. Each breath Kaito took felt—(in other words) The man was in heat, dangerous and on the verge of snapping.

She straddled him now, thighs gripping his hips, her mouth still hovering close but refusing to close the gap again.

"I could break you," she whispered, voice soaked with restraint.

Kaito's voice was low. "You already are."

Her nails dragged down his chest, not hard enough to cut but enough to feel pain. Her mouth brushed his throat, open and wet.

"I don't play soft," she murmured. "Not with men like you."

"Good," he breathed. "I hate soft."

And he wasn't soft too.

Lyria's laugh was low and wicked.

Just as she dipped her tongue to the edge of his collarbone, a voice cut across the night like a dagger dipped in ice.

"Now are you done marking your territory or should I wait until morning?"

Lyria paused, lips still on his skin.

Kaito exhaled in a hiss. "Gods, Seren—"

If looks could kill, she would dead.

She still leaned lazily against a nearby tree, arms crossed, hips tilted just enough.

"I could help, you know," she said silkily. "He looks like he'd enjoy two sets of hands."

Lyria turned her head slowly, like a wolf interrupted mid kill.

"This isn't a game."

"Oh, darling," Seren purred, stalking forward slowly. "It could be."

It could be indeed, he wouldn't resist.

Seren knelt beside them now, on Kaito's other side now, her fingers drifting to his jaw, tilting his face toward her. Lyria didn't stop her. Not yet.

It felt like the movies.

"You're burning up," Seren whispered, her lips close but not touching. "Does it hurt? The system spikes when your desire's too high, doesn't it?"

"Y-yeah," Kaito managed, breath shaking.

He was confused.

Seren's mouth hovered over his for a moment more. "Let's test how high it goes, then."

He peeked an eye on lyria but her reaction was unreadable.

Then she kissed him.

Not like Lyria. Not hungry.

Seren's kiss was slow. Sinister. It asked questions Lyria hadn't dared to. Her fingers laced through his. She kissed like she owned his next breath and was deciding whether he deserved it.

He didn't. Maybe.

And when Lyria growled and yanked Kaito's shirt open to sink her teeth just above his heart, Kaito moaned.

He couldn't choose.

Their mouths didn't touch, but he felt their touched him. Seren's hand in his hair. Lyria palm tracing his chest. One hot and biting, the other cool and daring.

"Two devils," Kaito panted. "Fighting over the soul of a glitch."

That sounded dumb, if you ask me but hey....

Lyria's laugh was all teeth. "Who said I wanted your soul?"

Seren's eyes glittered. "Who said he still has one?"

He could barely breathe.

They didn't take him to the edge, yet.

But they were close.

Until his system buzzed so violently his head dropped back, vision blurring.

[ SYSTEM ALERT: Overclock Approaching – Core Regulation Required]

Lyria pulled back first, biting down a moan. "You'll die if we keep going."

Seren stood, brushing off her knees. "Let him."

"I'd rather he stay alive," Lyria said, turning to her. "So I can keep making him suffer."

Kaito wheezed. "That's... romantic."

Both women looked at him then.

And something passed between them, not peace. But maybe understanding.

He wasn't a prize. Or a toy. He was something else now.

Dangerous. Tempting.

And theirs.
