Chapter 11 - Are you alright?

Lydia's Pov

The Alpha's mother looked from me to Felisha before speaking. "Do you know her?" she asked.

"Yes, she's my friend from my pack," I replied, and she nodded.

She waved her hand, dismissing Felisha, but before leaving, Felisha gave me a pitiful glance that made my heart ache for her situation.

After speaking with the Alpha's mother, who asked about my parents and well-being, we shared the fruit Felisha had brought. Once we parted, I was escorted back to my room.

Later, after changing into a simple gown, a knock at the door startled me. I opened it to find Felisha holding a tray. Seeing her made me smile.

I hugged her tightly and led her inside, but as soon as I did, my body weakened causing the tray to fall .

A sharp grin spread across Felisha's face as she helped me to the bed. I tried to speak, but my voice caught in my throat, leaving me utterly powerless.

My gaze followed her as she walked toward the wardrobe, rummaging through the elegant dresses. She picked a tight-fitting gown that accentuated her curves.

Shock coursed through me as she sprayed a perfume over herself, and right before my eyes, her features shifted. Her body, her face , everything became identical to mine.

Was she trying to impersonate me?

A tear slid down my cheek in disbelief.

She turned to me with a smile, walking over and sitting beside me on the bed.

"Lydia… I'll be borrowing your place for now," she murmured, her tone laced with amusement. "You have everything while I have nothing. I'm just an Obryn, but you… you're the Luna. Why don't you let me take your position? In return, I promise to find your mother and sister. I'll make sure you escape while I stay by the Alpha's side."

Her voice sounded exactly like my voice which sent a chill down my spine.

She let out a soft chuckle before continuing, "The Alpha's mother adores you, so why not let me enjoy that affection? My mother is dead, after all. It wouldn't hurt to be spoiled for once."

She touched her newly transformed face and winked at me.

I wanted to scream. To fight. To stop her.

But I couldn't move.

She lifted me from the bed and placed me on the chair nearby, draping a knitted material over my lap. A strange sensation coursed through my body, making me feel lightheaded and dizzy.

Felisha lay on the bed, picked up a book beside it, and began flipping through the pages. "It feels good to be you," she whispered. Her voice was too faint to hear, but I read her lips clearly.

She continued reading until the door suddenly opened, and my mate—the Alpha—stepped in. Her face lit up with a smile as she rushed to hug him, but his posture remained stiff.

"Mate, are you alright?" he asked, puzzled by her behavior.

And that's when I realized—she was a fool.

She had no idea that I had been distant toward him, rejecting his gestures of closeness. Yet here she was, impersonating me while acting completely different. Who does that?

"Y-yes, I'm alright," she stammered, her eyes welling up with tears.

The Alpha wiped her tears, picked her up, and placed her on the bed. She giggled in excitement, then turned her gaze toward me with a smirk. That movement made him glance in my direction, but he didn't react. Could he not see me? Was I invisible?

Felisha wrapped her arms around him, attempting to kiss him, but he stiffened in shock.

"Don't you want me?" she murmured, forcing out fake tears.

"I do, but… not now. You're rushing things," he said, gently removing her hands from his body before stepping away and leaving the room.

The moment he was gone, Felisha's expression twisted with fury. She stomped her foot on the floor, letting out an irritated growl before turning to me with a glare.

Without warning, she stormed over and slapped me hard across the face, the impact sending a sharp jolt of pain through my body.

"Your mate is stupid!" she spat, then yanked the knitted fabric off my lap.

As soon as she did, the dizziness lifted, and I found my voice again.

"Felisha, you don't have to do this… Why are you being so cruel?" I asked in disbelief.

She let out a light chuckle, then took a cloth and wiped her face, instantly returning to her normal appearance.

Without another word, she walked into the dressing area, changed back into her clothes, and returned to me. Lifting me back onto the bed, she leaned close and whispered, "I'll be back."

Then, she picked up the tray from the floor and left.

The moment she was gone, strength surged back into my limbs. I scrambled out of bed and locked the door behind her, my heart pounding.

What should I do? I asked myself, fear creeping in.

"Tell our mate."

Delia's voice echoed in my mind, her suggestion making my lips twitch in hesitation.

But I shoved that feeling aside. Now isn't the time to act rashly.

I had to be smart or Felisha would outmaneuver me. And if she did, she might not stop at stealing my identity.

She might kill me.

"How can I do that?" I asked Delia, desperately searching for the perfect solution.

"Just tell him you're in danger," she urged. "Explain that it wasn't you being clingy earlier—it was your friend using black magic to impersonate you."

I nodded in understanding. That made sense.

"Okay… thank you," I whispered.

Before I could gather my thoughts, the door swung open, and my mate stepped back into the room. His gaze locked onto mine, making me flinch.

"Are you alright?" he asked, noticing my unease.

" no I'm not " I replied and he fastened his pace moving close to my direction, I stare deep into his eyes and I could clearly see that he's worried about me .
