Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 : Cyborg Appears

Superman hadn't used his full strength in that punch. He shared Jonathan's conviction; he was unwilling to kill these infected individuals until they were sure a cure wasn't possible. In Superman's heart, they all held the hope of recovery.

However, the infected giant woman wasn't grateful for Superman's mercy. After staggering to her feet, she intended to continue attacking the Daily Planet building. She could sense many lives still inside, and her mission was to bring death to life.

"Hey, big guy! Come and get us if you can!" The Flash, always the quickest, and Kid Flash took the lead. The two speedsters couldn't stop talking as they began to taunt the giant woman in various ways, instantly appearing on her shoulders.

Amazingly, the giant woman, who should have been mindless due to the virus, fell for the taunt. She immediately shifted her target and punched at the two speedsters. But how could a punch that even Damian could easily dodge hit the speedsters?

After several attempts, the giant woman not only failed to hit the two speedsters, but she also became dizzy, her feet slipped, and her massive body began to lose balance.

Black Canary seized this opportunity. The green energy from her Green Lantern ring formed a giant version of Green Arrow's boxing glove, striking the giant woman's jaw hard. This knocked her completely off balance, sending her crashing to the ground.

"It's time to end this. If we don't deal with her, she won't stop attacking us." At this point, Wonder Woman's patience had reached its limit.

The giant woman was already a villain, and now, infected with the virus, Wonder Woman felt even less restraint. She picked up her Sword of Vulcan and leaped from the Daily Planet rooftop, her sword aimed at the giant woman's forehead.

If this attack connected, even if the giant woman's infection allowed her to ignore most fatal injuries, she would surely die. But just before the attack landed, Wonder Woman's wrist was grabbed, stopping her.

"Diana, we're not sure if she can still be cured, so we can't kill her." Naturally, only Superman had the power to stop Wonder Woman's attack. Diana immediately rebuked Superman for his actions.

"Clark, when will you abandon your unnecessary kindness? She was never a good person to begin with."

But Superman still shook his head and countered, "No matter what she did in the past, we have no right to take another's life."

This was standard Superman behavior. This spirit defined Superman, but it was also his biggest weakness. He always showed the greatest kindness towards all human beings.

Even if someone was a villain who committed evil deeds, Superman still cared for everyone. Perhaps in Superman's eyes, those so-called super-criminals were just children who had temporarily lost their way.

The Justice League admired Superman's ideals but didn't always agree with them. Each member of the Justice League had their own way of doing things.

No one noticed that Clark's eyes were fixed on Superman at this time, perhaps because Superman was the superhero Clark knew best, or perhaps because the two were, in essence, the same person. Clark didn't disagree with Superman's actions like the others; instead, he felt a sense of identification and admiration.

A Sudden Turn of Events

Boom!

Finally, a roar and an explosion ended the argument between Superman and Wonder Woman. When everyone looked towards the explosion's origin, they saw a large hole blown in the giant woman's head.

Standing on the other side of the hole was Cyborg. He had, through practical action, made a choice for everyone instead of letting them argue.

"We have more important things to do. We don't have time to argue here!"

Giganta was dead. Even Superman wouldn't blame Cyborg for Giganta's demise. He was a saint, but not naive.

The Truth Revealed

The group gathered again on the top floor of the Daily Planet for a discussion. More accurately, Cyborg began to explain the cause of everything.

The story began not long ago when Darkseid led his demon-like army to invade Earth. That invasion felt sloppy from the very beginning, and Batman realized this early on.

However, because the enemy was Darkseid, even if the attack seemed poorly executed, Earth still needed to resist with all its might, leaving Batman no time for careful thought.

And the battle was over quickly. There was no fracturing of the Justice League, no taking Superman or Batman out of commission before the war began. With the Justice League quickly assembled, Darkseid was swiftly defeated in the fight and knocked to the ground by a single punch from Superman.

Everyone in the Justice League knew very well that with their current abilities, it was impossible to kill Darkseid. They could defeat him, but not end him.

So Superman spoke up, asking Darkseid to take his demon-like army and leave Earth, return to Apokolips, and swear never to invade Earth again.

In truth, no one expected Darkseid to truly stop invading Earth. But to everyone's surprise, facing such a request, Darkseid readily accepted and uttered one final remark:

"I don't have to come back anymore because I've got everything I wanted."

Finally, through a Boom Tube opened by a Mother Box, Darkseid returned to Apokolips, leaving Earth with his army. Up to this point, it was a common memory for everyone. Even Damian and Jonathan, who hadn't directly participated in the battle with Darkseid, had heard this story from their parents.

Then, Cyborg told his part of the story. "Darkseid's target was me from the beginning, or rather, the other half of the Anti-Life Equation hidden in my body!"

Everyone knew that Darkseid had always possessed half of the Anti-Life Equation, and his goal in invading Earth was to find the other half. But no one had ever imagined that the deadly Anti-Life Equation was actually hidden within Cyborg's body, integrated with his genes and information.

"Behind Darkseid's seemingly careless invasion, his goal was actually very clear. He wanted to capture me from the very beginning. To do this, he even used himself as bait to distract you. It was only when he left that you noticed I had disappeared."
