Sarah, a young woman of twenty six years, who was destined by fate to be miserable, was seen holding and watching closely, a big portrait of her wedding, which she took with her husband, Kenny.
Looking at the portrait, her world collapsed. Her heart began to beat fast, very fast like never before. She was in great pain, while noticing the wild streams of tears pouring out from her eyes.
Kenny broke her heart and to her, it was a deliberate move by him. Uptill now, Sarah couldn't believe that the days would come, when she would be filled with regrets. Regrets of ever meeting and getting married to Kenny.
Meanwhile, as she was busy thinking and imagining her depression and regrets, footsteps from behind her were heard. She knew who it was. Thus, she was just about to move a bit, with the thought of keeping the portrait from where she previously picked it from, when she heard Kenny's voice.
"You ugly witch. I still can't believe that you are still here, under my roof?. I thought that by now you would have been sensible enough to run out of my house. Knowing fully well that I am no longer happy to be with you"Said Kenny. He fixed his eyes directly on her, holding and sipping his favorite red wine from a Chinese mug,
"What have I done to you, to deserve all these?. I have been a good house wife to you. I do everything you want me to do. So, what on Earth would you say that I have actually done to you, Kenny?"Asked Sarah, who was passionately speaking from her deep mind full of pains and anxiety.
"Oh!. I see that you are even holding our portrait. Maybe, you want to take it to your coven, to cast a spell on me?. Well, if that is your plan, you would definitely be wasting your time. I am not the kind of person whom you will easily use black magic on"Kenny informed. He spoke those words, just to hurt and intimidate her.
But she just kept gazing at him, without having any plans, to exchange words with him.
"I am going out now. I will be happy not seeing you here again. Bye"Kenny said lastly,kept the mug of red wine on the table beside him,and went out of the room.
Sarah on the other hand, went close to the portrait, and threw it on the floor, showing anger and desperation. Just then, she immediately heard the sound of Kenny's car being driven out of the compound.
Sarah then went straight to the parlor, where she helplessly and hopelessly sat on a sofa. At once, different thoughts began to stroll into her mind. The ones she gave attention to the most, were the events leading to how she met Kenny. She remembered how different suitors were trying to mingle and engage her three years ago.
She loved them, and was about making a commitment to pick one out of the numerous men who were coming for her hand in marriage, until Kenny approached and lured her into marrying him. However, she sees it as him being deceptive. He definitely knew what he was doing. This was just her thought and state of mind, towards him. But she didn't actually have concrete evidence to back up her inner claims.
Sarah watched tears coming out of her eye, as if she was flogged like a little child. As she recalled how everything has unfolded into this present time, she could remember that Kenny's strange attitude towards her only started just two weeks ago, when he began to humiliate her with an unhealthy attitude. He suddenly stopped eating any food prepared by her. He stopped taking her out like they used to do before, and he stopped addressing her like the lady and wife that she is. Things changed all of a sudden, and she found him always picking an unnecessary argument and quarrelling with her. She tried resolving whatever differences they could be having. But then, even she herself didn't know what the exact issue was.
While thinking, she suddenly realized that all the kind and sweet attitude that Kenny has been shedding and flowering her with for long, was nothing but a deceit and pretentious moves by him. Something caught her thought. She just remembered how she was slapped for the first time, by him, just yesterday. She took a bold step,by confronting him, just to know what the issue was. She wasn't even allowed to finish presenting her words to him, when a heavy hand slap dashed on her cheek. Upon checking her cheek by viewing a mirror, she found out that Kenny's hand and fingerprint had already formed a swollen scar on her face.
''Shut up, I beg of you. Stop disturbing my peace, young lady. If you don't know what to do, kindly sleep. If you are not feeling sleepy, kindly hang your self on a tree, or you throw yourself down the stair case. Just leave me alone. I am done with you, a long time ago''The words of Kenny against her.
Meanwhile, Sarah kept sitting on the sofa, while waiting for Kenny, her husband. All she needed to do at this hour was to speak with him, in an attempt to resolve their ill relationship.
But while waiting, she suddenly heard the gate leading to their mansion opening. As usual, Kenny's car horn was heard. She knew that he was back from wherever he might have previously gone. She immediately sat uprightly in a more seductive way, thinking she would be attractive to him. But if only she would be warned that she was only wasting her time with him, she would have pursued a better option.
The door leading to the parlor where she was sitting and waiting for him, was finally opened. Kenny walked in with a sweet smile on his face. Sarah, who sighted his sweet mood, immediately ran towards him, trying to hug him, but suddenly, she felt a hand pushing her. She fell on the floor helplessly, and was in confusion. Upon returning back to her senses, she discovered that a woman walked into the parlor with him. She looked closely at her, and discovered that it was her secondary school friend, Sonia.
