Raeha
Sky had whined to my cat self about buying a new branded guitar and a certain type of tea that she really wanted to try out, but she was short of money. Then, just the next day, I found myself standing in front of a guitar store.
I bought the one she wanted and also bought the branded tea; however, the question was how I was supposed to give it to her. I was a total stranger to her, plus she didn't even know how much I adored that cute little face of hers! So I just kept them to myself.
I couldn't go on like that anymore; I wanted to meet her as Raeha, not Silvy. Then there was this party arranged for the fourth years. The hosts, the third years, also invited a few master's students, including me and my close friend, Nathan. Maybe I could have a conversation with Sky there. Irritably, a fourth-year student, Dev Gulastree, harassed the cute-faced woman.
Dev's father was one of the board members of Shen University. The immature guy was known to be arrogant for it and often misused his father's power to his advantage. When Sky left the party after fighting with Dev and her best friend, my respect for her doubled.
That night, I followed Dev and Aliyah to the parking lot before doing something that I never thought I'd ever do: punch him in his guts. I don't know what came over me, but I was done being on the bleachers. I left marks where no one could see. The drunk Aliyah was terrified of an emotionless woman beating her boyfriend without any explanation. I, in the process, ended up with a busted lip.
I was disappointed with Aliyah since she always seemed kind and friendly to others.
Also, that night, I found Sky sleeping on the road's curb in front of our apartment complex. I helped her up, and her drunk self complimented my appearance. She touched my hair and intently gazed at my green eyes.
"You know, I always wondered how your hair is beautiful but not damaged because of the dye." She had slurred to me that night.
"Because it's natural." I had whispered to her.
She chuckled before having a pre-puking episode. I rushed her to the bathroom and patted her while she threw up her guts.
The next few days, I was too busy to watch her performance at the bar she worked at or even visit at night, but coincidentally, I met her at the university tracks. I didn't dare to approach at first. It wasn't until I saw her running like a mad woman with a sudden burst of energy and having a nosebleed that I approached to help. She probably saw Aliyah and Dev together.
Those two-faced people!
Just that night, after returning from work, I saw the cute-faced woman standing outside my studio hanging a bag at my door. Sky tended to stumble into my arms as of late....not that I minded. However, I felt really shy when she openly admired my eyes. I also gave her some painkillers and the tea I had bought for her as an excuse to relieve her muscle pain. Taking the chance, I also invited her to cook for me in return.
After she went to her studio, I took a shower and went to her window, but she was talking on her phone, looking really frustrated. So, I patiently waited for her to finish. As usual, she let me have food and talked to me about her day. My cat form's mouth literally hung open when she addressed Raeha Mandal as her 'hot neighbour'.
Oh my, she thought I was...
Don't get me wrong. I've heard people call me that before, but it felt different when it came out of her mouth. She then planned a 'coincidental' meeting with me the next morning just to ask about what I preferred for dinner so that she could cook me that.
I was so excited that I could barely sleep until very late, ending up being late to my morning workout session where Sky planned our coincidental meeting; however, I did catch her almost on the verge of leaving and went to the gym together where we could spend some time together.
But luck wasn't on my side. Dev and Aliyah sneaked into the female changing room and I overheard pretty disturbing things. The cute-faced woman probably saw Dev and Aliyah sneaking into the changing room and after a while, Sky was just outside the couple's foldable partition listening.
I saw her shake furiously and clutch her knuckles. My heart told me to cover her ears 'cause she already had gone through enough pain but she had to know. She had to see how her supposedly best friend was a sly fox and was secretly wronging her. However, what I didn't expect was Sky to kick the couple's foldable partition.
I swear to God, there was something about her fierceness that made my heart unusually beat faster. But there was a problem, Dev was arrogant and selfish. He might've turned a blind eye to the bruises I gave him because, well, it's ME, but there was no doubt that he won't let others blow on him or get them off the hook easily. I knew he had the power to humiliate someone when he wanted and Sky surely wasn't an exception to that.
So, I hid Sky and faced the couple on my own. However, Sky wasn't the type to just sit around. She literally slapped her ex-bestie on the face, and my satisfaction rose significantly.
I gave Sky a ride home afterwards. I called our family's private investigator and told him to meet me. Since he wasn't free, he postponed our meeting to that night. It meant I wouldn't be able to go to Sky's performance at the bar, but considering Sky's mental state, she probably would want to skip it, no?
So I went to our meeting place at Shen's private guest house. The man in his late 30s sat in front of me wearing a fine black suit.
"So, you want me to find the online group behind this mass bullying and take over them?"
I nodded to the man, emotionless.
"And what do you plan after?"
"That's irrelevant for you."I politely said, which just meant 'Mind your own business.'
"Noted...about the payment-
"Five figures. Depends on how fast you can deliver."
"We'll handle it as fast as we can, Miss."
I went home after that. I'll be exposing Dev and his group and their disgusting acts behind the university's back. They'll pay for every dime for making Sky suffer for the past years.
