Chapter 41 - Mental Gem

Three days later.

On a sunny afternoon, Thane saw Maxim off.

He promised Maxim that next time he came, he'd let him head back with a full load.

He also hoped Maxim could bring more slaves—quality folks like craftsmen.

Maxim was all too happy to agree, then set off on his return journey.

All slaves threw themselves heart and soul into canal construction.

For his dream of a flowing-water fish pond, Thane needed at least two canals—one for water coming in and one for water going out.

Thane had long since decided where to build the inlet.

At the river bend upstream on Blue River.

That was the river's outer curve where water flow was strong and fast with little muck building up. Future canal construction wouldn't face silting problems.

The ground there was higher than most farmland but didn't beat Fontdmer Town's elevation.

This way water could flow down naturally while future flooding wouldn't threaten the town even during high water.
