Wyatt, Rylin and I sat in a booth for breakfast. Rob came in and sat down next to me. Wyatt was glaring. "Oh. Wyatt this is Robert Diaz. You remember Mikey and Miranda, don't you?" I asked.
He nodded. "Sorta. When they needed a horse trained they'd come by with the horse." He replied. "Sorry we got off on the wrong foot last night." Rob apologized.
"It's fine. Your not as bad as most of those cowboys. Cassi told me about you." Wyatt responded. Rob nodded. "Thanks for the comment." He told Wyatt.
We ate breakfast then went back to the grounds. I gave the boys water and grain. Then walked them. Dawson nipped at Luis, he rarely does that.
I stopped and checked his mouth. His gums were sore and he tried to bite me. I led them back and took Dawson to the trailer with me. I tied him up and got his gum medicine.
Every once in a while he needs it. I injected it into his top gum and scratched his muzzle. He nudged me and hung his head low near my thighs.
I scratched his neck and he lipped the bottom of my pants leg. I vaulted onto his back and rode him around. Wyatt came up on his horse next to me. We rode around the grounds in silence.
We passed Jase who was sitting on the back of his truck drinking fireball whiskey. That's just the start of what could happen. "It's sad to see a man drink his life away. Especially when he could have just tried to find another." Wyatt muttered.
I really hope the right girl comes along. Rylin and I went shopping for new jeans and pearl snaps. "What about yellow for a show shirt?" She asked.
"If you wear it out in the ring it's bad luck. As I'm told." I told her. She nodded. "No wonder non of them wear yellow." She said. I browsed through the shirts.
I spotted Jase across the store. He was looking through the men's jeans. "Cass." I looked back a Ry. She was holding up a cute pearl snap. "Do you want that one?" I asked.
She smiled brightly. I grabbed one of each color and went over to the jeans. "Don't tell Wyatt I'm getting you more clothes." I told her. "No problem or worries." She replied.
We got several pairs of jeans and I found a package of crew socks. I got tank tops in each color they had and we checked out. Then as I was about to walk out the sole of my boot came off.
I went over to the boots and found my size and bought the new pair and an extra. I wore the new pair out of the store and carried the other pair with all of my clothes.
"I knew they'd fall apart at some time." I told Rylin. She giggled. "Same here. I should have gotten Wyatt a new pair." She told me.
"You always wear your boots until they fall apart." I told her. "My aunt and uncle know that for sure." She told me. "Which ones?" I asked. "Colt and Hedli. They'll be at the next rodeo." Ry told me as we pulled into the grounds.
The rest of the afternoon I washed my horses and cleaned them up. It's almost extremely rare for me to have all of my events on the same night.
I cleaned my chaps and vest making them shine. Then I cleaned all of my saddles and bridles. I cleaned the protective boots and saddle pads.
Then I fixed their hair up nice. They knew I meant business when I was this busy. I checked their water for the twelfth time this afternoon and made sure they were still healthy.
Once everything was done on my part I got dressed in a new pearl snap and jeans. I put my chaps on and carried my vest out to the horses.
I saddled up Roper up and fixed his cheek strap. "You ready?" Wyatt asked. I nodded. "Um could I ask you something?" He asked. I looked away from Roper's bridle. "Yes." I said.
