Chapter 12 - Who Is On The Hill?

Tristan stepped inside the hut with new plants in his hands. His eyes were full of worry and uncertainty as he walked towards the room where he had left his master.

He was thinking of taking his master away right now. With his strength, he should be able to cross this hill soon.

However, the problem was that he didn't know the situation on the other side of the hill.

He didn't know whether Lenn received his message and the situation on the other side of the hill was safe or not.

The Ulrik soldiers were already looking for them in the whole region.

If he took his injured master down the hill on the other side, he might put his master in a more dangerous situation.

But he must do something.

He won't let anything happen to his master. Even if he would need to give his life, he must do something…

With this determination, Tristan stepped inside the room.

However, one glance at the bed and his steps were frozen.

On the bed, Rayan was leaning against the backrest and staring at nothing in particular. On hearing the sound of his footsteps, Rayan looked at Tristan.

"My Lord!"

Tristan uttered in disbelief and then almost ran to the bed.

"My Lord! You …are you alright? Why are you seated? You should be resting and lying down on the bed. Your wound is still bleeding."

Tristan had the habit of ranting when he was panicked or worried. Most of the time, he reacted this way when it involved Rayan.

Rayan was aware of it and hence he was calm.

"I am fine."

He responded.

However, how could Tristan compose himself with this one sentence only.

Just a few moments ago, he had been contemplating taking him down the hill to find a physician. Just a few moments ago, his master's wound had been bleeding.

Yet now…Tristan's eyes flashed with panic when he glanced at his master's chest.

"This…"

He whispered as he looked at the cloth that was lying somewhere else on the ground now, stained with blood. But when he looked at his master's chest expecting a stained wound, he was surprised to see a completely clean wound.

Sensing his gaze, Rayan covered his wound with a blanket.

Tristan looked at his master in confusion but Rayan pretended as if he couldn't sense it.

"My Lord…"

In the end, Tristan opened his mouth to ask questions but Rayan interrupted him.

"I am starving."

The words distracted Tristan and he said

"I will go and prepare something right away, My Lord."

However before leaving Tristan glanced at his master's covered wound again and many emotions flashed across his eyes.

Rayan noticed this and his lips pursed in a thin line.

Though Tristan was talkative sometimes, he was no less intelligent amongst his subordinates. He could understand the signs left behind by him and find him on this hill.

And it won't take him long to understand as well how his wounds got healed.

A few moments later, Tristan exited the room.

On the other hand, Rayan looked out of the window of the room again.

His eyes were cold and aloof. No one could tell what was going on inside his mind.

Aria took a deep breath before she shouted again.

"Wohoooo…"

She tried to imitate the wolf's howl. As she looked at the completely isolated valley, Aria tried to hide her disappointment. Yet, her eyes slowly started to fill up with tears.

They didn't want to be around her now either.

She bit her lips to stop herself from crying. She didn't want to cry. Rubbing her eyes to wipe off the little bit of moisture, she put the bowl of medicinal paste she had with herself on a stone and then took a step forward to leave the hill.

And it was at that moment only that a small chirp sounded in the hill.

"Kuhuu!"

Aria blinked as she heard the most familiar sound. Taking a deep breath, she turned around gradually and a tear rolled down her cheek finally when the bird flew towards her and sat on her shoulder.

"Kuhuu!"

More and more birds flew around Aria and she sobbed even though wanting to stop.

And the last stroke was when through her blurry sight, she saw the same wolf walking towards her with a slight limp whom Rayan had stabbed in the paw.

Aria immediately picked the medicinal paste bowl from the stone and walked towards the wolf.

The wolf stopped midway seeing her walking and she finished that distance between them. Sitting on the nearby stone, Aria looked at the wolf's paw with concern filled eyes.

Then she placed her hand on his wound and closed her eyes, chanting something. Her lips moved slowly and a few moments later, the wolf mewled slightly.

Aria opened her eyes gradually.

She sighed in relief seeing that his wound was almost healed now.

"Gween Sou" (Forgive Him.)

She whispered as she caressed the wolf's head. The wolf rubbed his head against her hand.

Aria applied the medicinal paste on his eyes as she said again.

"Wou Ho Nay." (He is new).

She was about to say more but a sharp sound diverted her attention. Aria frowned as she turned around to look at the source of the sound.

But the scene in front of her eyes made her gasp in shock.

Her heart thumped inside her chest and her mind screamed at her to run but her legs didn't seem to listen at all.

In the end, everything slowly went blurry in front of her eyes and she collapsed then and there only.
