Zenkichi was a very talkative person.
Since Kaguya Shorai wanted to confront him head-on, then Zenkichi would oblige.
His palm struck Shorai's face hard. Even with his thick skin, Shorai felt a jolt of pain.
Kaguya Shorai's body flew backward like a cannonball and smashed into the wall of the Kaguya clan compound with a heavy thud.
The members of the Kaguya clan fell into stunned silence. Their expressions looked as if they were questioning reality itself.
Their supposedly invincible clan leader was beaten back so easily?
"Damn it!"
Shorai climbed to his feet and shouted at Zenkichi in frustration.
"Don't be so worked up," Zenkichi replied casually. "I just gave you what you wanted. No need to get emotional."
Zenkichi looked at Shorai with a gentle smile, but the mockery in his voice only made the man angrier.
The elder of the Kaguya clan, Yan, shouted, "Zenkichi, did you come here just to provoke the Kaguya clan?"
Zenkichi picked at his ear and replied lazily, "Provoke? Me? I think I've been quite considerate."
"The clan leader asked for a head-on fight, so I granted his wish."
"But what about him? Look at me!" He pointed to his chest, where a large hole glowing with golden light still remained. "He pierced straight through me, and I haven't even healed yet!"
"This is a life-threatening injury! If the Kaguya clan doesn't compensate me with hundreds of millions of ryō, this won't end here!"
"Bastard!"
"You came here just to cause trouble!"
"Unforgivable!"
The three elders of the Kaguya clan shouted furiously in unison.
"Kill him!" Kaguya Shorai bellowed, charging at Zenkichi without hesitation.
A bone sword extended from Shorai's arm, and he slashed at Zenkichi with full force.
Slash!
Zenkichi's body was cut in half. His upper body was flung into the air.
"Terrifying!" he exclaimed midair, still calm. "You sliced me in half. Truly worthy of being the Kaguya clan's leader."
"We collided, so let's keep clashing!"
Despite his playful tone, Shorai struck him again and again, turning Zenkichi's upper body into ribbons of golden light.
"How ruthless."
Zenkichi's body reformed in a burst of shimmering particles, the top half merging seamlessly with the bottom.
"So this is the legendary Kekkei Genkai of the Kaguya clan, the Shikotsumyaku!"
"It really is impressive. Thanks for the demonstration."
"Now it's my turn to show you something special!"
Zenkichi's tone dropped a register. His body glowed as he vanished, reappearing instantly in front of Shorai.
"Shining Art: Blinding Light!"
With his hands in his pockets, an explosion of golden light burst from Zenkichi's body—so bright it was like a second sun had appeared.
"My eyes!"
"Closing them doesn't help—it burns!"
"Turn around!"
Even with their eyes shut, the Kaguya clan members couldn't escape the blinding brilliance. The golden light seared through their eyelids, forcing them to turn away in agony.
"Oh? You all turned around for me? I'm touched," Zenkichi said with mock emotion, raising his hand and lowering it dramatically.
He had no intention of killing needlessly—that wasn't his style.
"You bastard, die!"
Just as Zenkichi was sighing, a man wearing sunglasses burst from the Kaguya compound, brandishing a bone blade as he charged at him.
Zenkichi looked surprised. "Another one with the Shikotsumyaku?"
"No… just using a special weapon."
He shook his head, then casually raised one leg.
All the golden light around him gathered at his heel, condensing into a spinning cross-shaped flash.
"Speed is weight."
"Young Kaguya ninja…"
"Have you ever been kicked at the speed of light?"
Zenkichi swung his leg. The charging Kaguya ninja was blasted away like a ragdoll.
"Ren!"
The other Kaguya shinobi, still turned away, cried out in panic.
"You idiots…" Zenkichi muttered. "He was clearly ready to fight me, but he didn't even bring sunglasses?"
"You people are so 'clever'… If Kirigakure hadn't been protecting you, you'd have all been cannon fodder by now."
He sighed. It was a miracle the Kaguya clan had survived this long.
"Don't look down on us!"
"Even with our eyes closed, the Kaguya clan can still fight!"
"Don't think you're invincible!"
One of them tore a strip of cloth from Shorai's clothes and tied it over his own eyes. Apparently, his eyelids alone weren't enough—he needed an extra layer to block out the glare.
Zenkichi watched all this with a deadpan stare. When he saw Shorai preparing to attack him blindly, he sighed again.
He raised his hand. Golden light gathered on his fingertip.
With a hum, a spiraling cross of laser light shot from his finger and pierced through Shorai.
"What a bunch of morons."
"If you keep this up, I won't hold back anymore."
"Either you follow the village's orders from now on—or I'll crush you all right here."
Zenkichi's voice turned cold. His sharp gaze swept over the Kaguya clan.
"Kill him!"
"Avenge the clan leader!"
"Make him pay!"
Hearing Shorai collapse, the third elder roared with fury, leading the clan members into a reckless charge.
"What a bunch of hard-headed fools."
"No wonder they launched a rebellion with only their own clan in the original story…"
Zenkichi looked down at the angry Kaguya shinobi, completely unimpressed.
His body turned to light and shot into the sky.
"Yasakani no Magatama!"
