Chapter 14 - Chapter 13

Kat's POV

"3D." Zach told me. The doctor set it up. "Alright, let's check out the baby." She said as she put the gel on my belly. I took a deep breath and held on tightly to Zach's hand.

He kissed the back of my hand. The baby came onto the screen. Zach moved closer to my side. "Alright, baby looks completely healthy without any defects. Ready for the gender?" The doctor asked.

I nodded. She moved the wand around. The baby moved a little on screen. Zach adjusted his hand. "Oh, looks like a little girl. Moved just right." She told us. It was all videoed.

Zach kissed my knuckles. Then I remembered I never went shopping for any baby items. She looked so cute sleeping. Once mine was over, Zach had his.

He was able to get his arm cast off and a walking boot on his leg. The only thing was that he still had to use his crutches. We paid for our appointments and left. "Zach, I'm needing to get some things for her when she arrives."

"Then let's go. I don't mind shopping for her. She's going to be in our future." He said. I smiled and looked at him. He has both arms free now and a walking boot.

I found a parking spot close to the entrance and parked. We got out and went in. He hobbled behind me. "Zach, are you putting a little weight on it?" I asked him.

He scoffed. "No." "Could you?" I asked him. "I guess." He said as I stopped. My parents still had all my baby clothes, so I'm going to go over to their house and get them.

I got a few pink blankets for the moment. Zach followed me as I looked at the playpens. "You can look around. You said yourself that she's part of our future." I told him.

He smiled and went to look. I found one that looked perfect for her. Zach came up with a few things. "Need some help with it?" He asked.

"Are you sure?" I asked. "Yeah. I broke my leg and one arm." That's what I'm afraid of. "But the doctor did say no heavy lifting," I told him.

"Then how are we supposed to get it in the truck?" He asked. He's got a point. "Yeah, and when does your mom usually go grocery shopping?" I asked.

He pulled his cell phone out and made a quick call. A few minutes later, Maggie came up to us. "How are you, Kat?" She asked. "I'm good. Just found out the gender today." I told her.

"That's great! And by judging by all the pink, it's a girl." I nodded. "I bet Colt and Hedli would let you use Bailey's onesies for her." She told me.

"I was even going over to my parents' house for my old ones," I told her. "What's up, bro?" I turned around, and Colt was beside his brother.

"Not much. I can't lift anything heavy for two weeks." Colt rolled his eyes. "So what else is needed?" He asked. Zach pointed at the one I wanted for the baby.

He didn't testify or anything. "Yeah, I love taking one of the boys grocery shopping. They're tall enough to reach the top shelf for me." Maggie told me.

I giggled. "Once it gets closer to her being born, I'm sending Zach up into my parents' attic," I said. "Why not send Jack. You know he doesn't care." Zach told me.

"I know, and now that you say that, why not call him and ask if he can." I told Zach. "That's your deal Kitty I'm not getting into that." He told me putting his hands up in defense.

I smiled at him. "Come on Colt we've got to finish shopping." Maggie said. Colt followed her to somewhere. I got diapers and baby bottles. "Don't forget this." Zach said handing me a baby monitor set.

"Thank you." I told him before kissing his cheek. He smiled as we went up to the check out. I was about to pay when he stopped me.

"I got this." He said as he swiped his card and signed his name. I'm not going to say anything about it. We went out to the truck. He put the tailgate down and grabbed one side of the playpen.

Then the car seat with one hand. I took the clothes and blankets to the cab. I've got at least a month to get the rest in. When we got home Jack was already over.

He helped carry the playpen inside and I asked him if he could go to my parents house and get my baby clothes. "Figured it was a girl." He said.

"So how much longer until Ray here can be on both feet?" He asked. "Probably until the baby is born." I told him. "So what are you going to do now?" He asked. "Online shopping. The items should be here within a few days." I said as I looked through diaper bags.

I found one that will last through several years and can work for both boys and girls. It had a horse pattern all over it.

It looked adorable. This was a surprise for Zach. I found several other things and got them for her. Zach might think I'm crazy after what he sees I got but hey it's my baby girl. He won't know if it's his child until after she's born.
