Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 : Animal Farm

[Animal Farm] just like the grassland was filled with domesticated animals, only that there were more in number within the dungeon.

Nash decided to utilise Null in here with the two of them attacking the animals as independent entities to make things faster.

The animals were easy to kill, only that it got frustrating thanks to their large numbers but Nash did not relent.

With every animal they killed, Nash and Null had drops to choose from—chicken eggs, hide, hooves, horns. Most of these items sold for about 1 copper coin each and it was good since he would have a lot of them by the time they were done.

The both of them made their way through the crowd of animals until they came to a door.

*Bang*

With a loud kick, Nash burst the door open and rushed in.

This was the room of the dungeon boss.

In front of them was a large hen, the size of a human being. The hen shone with golden light like a rare wonder of the world.

With a few swift attacks, Null killed the dungeon boss since it was too weak.

*Ding*

[You have slain the dungeon boss]

*Ding*

[You have received the golden egg]

Nash was excited but that was not what he wanted.

The reason he came here was because of a particular rare item that the golden hen dropped if one killed it.

'Looks like it won't happen in the first kill,' he thought as he massaged his chin.

Nash sighed at having cleared the dungeon since what he had come for did not appear immediately.

Nevertheless, he didn't give up and re-entered to clear the dungeon again. The [Animal Farm] dungeon had no limited entry rules and Nash exploited it, entering the dungeon with Null over and over again.

Sometimes, he chose to fight alongside Null. Other times, he relaxed and watched especially at times when the golden hen got aggressive and attacked with its [Beak Assault] skill that took a threatening sum from Nash's HP when it landed a hit.

Nash immediately retreated and allowed Null to do the fight since the creature could not see or sense Null.

Nash and Null continued going in and out of the dungeon and with every time they entered, it became easier to clear the dungeon than it was previously.

44 times!

Those were the number of times that Nash entered the [Animal Farm] just to get the particular item that he was aiming for.

An Enhancement Wheel.

That was the item he wanted so badly, pushing him to clear the [Animal Farm] 44 times.

[Enhancement Wheel]

Level: 1

Rank: Rare

Description: A colourful wheel that can boost the overall attribute resistance of an equipment by 1 to 4 additional points

Nash smiled as soon as he manifested this item, knowing how important it was for his next quest.

Without the [Enhancement Wheel] and one other equally important item, there was nothing he could hope to achieve in the next plan.

"Now I can go to that godforsaken marsh," he said.

All items in the world of Apex Online can be upgraded with the [Enhancement Wheel] but there was a rule guiding this upgrade.

First was that the item in question must be boosted in a wheel that is of the same level as the item. Otherwise, it would fail.

Secondly, items are upgraded in an orderly manner from the lowest level to the highest level. For instance, a player can not upgrade a level 3 item with an [Enhancement Wheel] before upgrading a level 2 item and cannot do so for a level 1 without upgrading the level 2 item first.

Additionally, the higher the level of the item being upgraded, the higher the additional attribute points it gains considering that it would be upgraded with a higher [Enhancement Wheel] of equal level.

On the other hand, there was also another rule that determined the fate of an [Enhancement Wheel] and considering that it was a rare item, this rule was very important.

If an item enhancement fails, the [Enhancement Wheel] is destroyed instantly.

There were several types of enhancement wheels and varying success rates as well. These included agility enhancement wheel, strength, ice attribute enhancement, fire attribute enhancement, shadow attribute enhancement etc.

The [Enhancement Wheel] works perfectly as long as the rules binding its function are followed well.

After his 44th clearing, Nash decided to leave the novice dungeon and turn into the other items that he had acquired, mostly eggs, in exchange for copper coins.

The one place to do that was to the dungeon guide.

Just then…

******

*Ding*

Nash's gear dinged, alerting him that someone in the real world needed his attention.

He sighed and turned off his gear, recovering awareness of his actual self.

Nash quit the game and removed the gear, stretching his muscles as he saw William staring over him.

"I was about to ask if you are going to eat inside the game," William asked sarcastically, having tried hard to return his roommate back to the real world.

Nash smiled and scratched the back of his head.

"It's already late and Danny and Junior have already called," William added. "They've been waiting."

Nash clicked his phone, brightening it up as he saw the time and exhaled.

It was some minutes past 9 o'clock at night.

"Let's go then," Nash said as he sat up from the bed. "Let me just get my sweatshirt."

Nash changed into his new clothes and in the company of William, he went for dinner at the designated place where Daniel and Junior were waiting.

Daniel and Junior were the two other people who lived with William and Nash.

As soon as they saw William and Nash walk into the eatery, they waved to draw their attention and reveal themselves to them.

Nash and William made their way to them and sat as they started to talk before Daniel moved the conversation to something more serious.

"You really need to teach that brat a lesson," Daniel said.

Nash raised his head with confusion in his eyes as he wondered who Daniel was talking about.

"Who?" he asked as he fed himself a spoonful of his meal.

"Zebadiah, of course!" Junior added, almost attacking Nash's ignorance.
