Once the movie was over, we still had four hours to burn. "Can we go to Sheplers?" Nothing better to do, so I gave in. Once there, I watched as she got herself some jeans and shirts. "Why don't I carry them while you shop?" I could tell she was hesitant at first, then she let me.
I checked the time. Three hours left. Next, she went to look at the boots. How'd I get roped into this? Oh, wait, I planned to get her away. I saw a cute dress sitting on the sales rack. I quickly checked the size of one of the shirts and got the dress in her size.
I hid it in the pile of clothes in my arms. I also saw a pair of boots that matched the dress. I quickly got her boot size while she was trying a pair on. "I'll be right back, Hedli." "Ok." I bought the clothes for her with the boots. I went and put them out in the truck and checked the receipt. Over two hundred dollars spent.
I quickly went back in to find he was still trying on the boots. "What do you think?" She asked. "I think they look fine." She smiled and boxed them. I followed her back to the checkout. I bought her the boots and walked out with her.
"Now, possibly lunch?" I asked after I got in. "Where to?" "Adriano's Italian Restaurant," I told her. Once parked, I went around and helped her out. This time, I had my arm around her waist. I held the door open and led her in.
"Table for two," I said. The hostess led us to a table. She sat us down and we ordered our drinks. Once our food was ordered, Nathan texted me to keep her away from the back of the trailer. I texted him back, "ok."
After lunch, I walked her back out to the truck. I saw several guys staring at her. My grip on her waist tightened. "Not so tight, Colt." I loosened my grip and opened the door for her. I watched as she climbed in. Man her butt looked good in those shorts.
I closed the door and went around to my side. I got in and we drove to the arena. "Here, let me get the bags for you, Cupcake," I told her as I got the bags. I left the bag with her dress and the pair of boots in the truck. "Ok, then why don't I check on the horses?"
Hedli's P.O.V.
"No!" Colt shouted. "No, why don't you come and show me the shirts you got?" Ok, what's going on? I followed him into the trailer. He put the bags on the bed. "So which one were you going to wear tonight?" He asked.
I looked through the clothes and pulled out a pair of cruel girl jeans and a turquoise Wrangler shirt. I got out my new boots and put them on. The time was close to one fifty. I hung the rest of my shirts up and folded my jeans up and put them away.
I checked the time; it was now two fifteen. I put my vest on and chaps before going out to get my horse. I stepped out, and there were Izzy and Miranda with Reno.
I took her from them, and we walked to warm our horses up. "Oh yeah, this is Duke. My horse." Miranda said. I scratched Duke's cheek as we walked.
Once there, we mounted our horses and started to warm them up. "Time to start." Someone yelled.
Colt's P.O.V.
Once she disappeared, I got the dress and boots out. "Dude, she's going to love you," Mikey said. I shyly smiled before hanging the dress on a cabinet and taking the boots out, and placing them below the dress.
Hedli's P.O.V.
I smiled as I kicked it home on my ride. "I'll take Reno for you," Miranda said as I went to watch Colt rope. "Wooo," I yelled as I watched him throw his hands up.
I waited for him. Once he came out, I kissed him on his cheek. "I'll be back in a second." He told me. Usually, he would want me to tag along. Bull riding started. I watched several get thrown before it was Colt's turn.
He stayed longer than any of the others. I watched him run out and over the railing. LJDA. I sauntered over to him. "Someone saw something she liked." "Definitely." "Then let's get to the chutes." He put his arm around my waist. I spanked him as we started walking.
His smirk said it all. Once there, he spanked me before throwing me over his shoulder and spanking me again. "Mikey." "Sorry, you're on your own." "Ugh."
He only put me down when it was time for me to ride. "Once you're done with your ride, I want you to go straight to the trailer." He told me. "Ok," I said as I readjusted myself. I nodded, and the gate opened.
After five seconds, I landed rolling. I jumped up, ran to the side, and over. I watched Colt ride before running to the trailer. Once there, I opened the door. "Oh." Oh my gosh. An ocean blue dress was hanging up. Boots with matching detailing were below it.
I grabbed some undergarments and went to take a shower. Once done, I got out and into the garments. I wrapped the towel around my hair and walked out. I took the dress off its hanger and put it on. It only zipped up halfway before I gave up on it the rest of the way.
I pulled the boots on. Surprisingly, it all fit. I straightened my hair and put lip gloss on before a knock made me jump. "Hedli you ready?" "Partly." "May I come in?" "Sure." He came in and saw me. "Can you finish zipping the back up?" I said as I turned around.
I felt his cold but warm hands on my back. I bit my lip as the zipper went up. "Now are you ready?" He asked huskily. Definitely. I turned around to face him. He had on a shirt the same color with red mixed in.
"Yes," I said, like I was out of breath. "Then follow me." He said as he held his elbow. I took it, and he led me to the back of the trailer. I dropped my arm before he clapped, making the lights turn on. "Oh. Oh my gosh." I felt tears well up in my eyes. A table for two was set up.
He led me over to the table and pulled out my chair before sitting me down and pushing in the chair. He then sat in his chair across from me and sent a text to someone.
A few minutes later, Miranda and Mikey came with our meal and champagne. Mikey set the two plates down while Miranda poured the champagne. Steak? Champagne? Oh my gosh, best birthday ever.
He smiled at me before cutting his steak. "Just so you know, I was the decoy for this." He said. "That I don't believe." "Yeah, I planned it all." Oh my gosh. So thoughtful. The sun was close to setting in the day. "I can't believe you did all this just for me." "Well, I love taking care of my girl."
"How did you know my boot and dress size?" "I checked the size of a shirt, and I checked your boots." "Sneaky much?" "Well, I forgot to check this morning before leaving to get you breakfast." He said, smiling. "I've enjoyed myself today," I said before taking a bite. "I'm glad to hear that."
Once we were done with the main course. Nathan came and took our dishes. Miranda poured more champagne, and Mikey gave us dessert. "Yes, it's gluten-free." Nice. "It took a while to find gluten-free chocolate cake mix gluten free." I laughed at Mikey's comment as he left.
"Well then, Hedli, I hope the rest of the night goes well." He said before taking a bite of cake. "Me too." Once we were done there, he got up and pulled my chair out before helping me up. He led me to our horses. At first, I didn't know what he was thinking until Reno kneeled for me to get on.
They had red, white, and blue decorations on them. I followed Colt over to where our friends were. They had their horses prepped similarly to ours. Once there, Colt got off and had Reno kneel. He helped me off and held my hand as we walked over to our friends. He had our horses walking behind us as we did so.
I sat down in a chair that said RQ. "Please explain why people that you went to high school with called you RQ," Mikey said. "Because I was the queen of rodeo in my high school career on the team. Well, that and I got prom queen. That night I had on a dress and boots. Every girl hated me after that night."
"So, how long exactly have you been pro rodeoing?" Miranda asked. "This would be my fourth year? I started when I was sixteen." They looked at me like I was crazy. "Ok, how bout gifts?" Nathan said, breaking the silence.
"Sure," I said. "Izzy came out with several boxes wrapped. She sat them next to me and went to sit in Nathan's lap. I picked up the one on top. 'From Mikey. It was the size to be a hat or another pair of boots. I unwrapped it. It was a black felt Stetson with rhinestones around it. "Ah."
Mikey smiled as I put it on. "Had to guess the size." "It fits perfectly." Next was one from Izzy. I opened it. There was a Brighton charm bracelet. It had a dog, a horseshoe for good luck, and a cross that had faith engraved on the back. In between were rings to separate the charms. One was all hearts, and the other said love on it.
"I love it," I told her. "And you can buy more charms to go on it." "Thank you." I picked up the smaller of the two boxes left. This one was from Miranda. When I opened it, it was a jewelry cleaning kit. "So you can clean your jewelry and keep it shiny." She told me.
Nathan's was last. It was a tie blanket that was big enough for a queen or king-size bed. Miranda, Izzy, and Colt helped hold it out. There was a bronc and a bull rider on it. At the bottom, it said Colt and Hedli Ray? Then Mikey took over the place where Colt was holding it.
He ran over to Jet and got something before coming back. "Hedli, I don't know how to say this so." He got down on one knee and opened up a velvet box. Oh my god, he's doing this. "Hedli May Drouten, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"
I covered my mouth with both hands and gasped. "Yes, yes, yes, yes," I said, almost squealing. He jumped up and hugged me tightly. He took the ring and put it on. It was my birthstone, a ruby. It was firecracker red. "Happy birthday, baby." He said before wrapping me up in another hug.
Now, several men and women have gathered to see what it was about. The blanket was folded up and put back in its box. Now I'm the luckiest girl alive. He kissed me just as fireworks started going off. Exactly like in my mind.
Whistles, hoots, and hollers went around. "Congratulations to the couple." Some person yelled. Colt took my Stetson off and put it on my chair. He then took his off and kissed me. It lasted for several seconds before we broke apart.
