Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Chat Group Members

To be honest, Kevin Cross didn't feel much affection for the parents in this body's memories nor for people like them in general.

Not that it mattered now. They were dead.

Yes, dead.

Not long ago, an African American man was killed in the U.S. pinned to the ground by a police officer's knee on his neck, suffocating to death.

The incident triggered a nationwide wave of protests against racial discrimination. Kevin's parents, two Asian immigrants, decided to join in. In their words, people with yellow skin were just as discriminated against as those with black skin. When Black people were oppressed, Asians should stand with them. Unity was strength, they believed.

Then, during a protest march, Kevin's father was shot dead by the U.S. National Guard.

The scene was brutal. His brains were splattered across the ground.

Tragic, yes. Kevin's mother was devastated. But not long after, anti-China sentiment surged in the U.S., and Asians became the next convenient target.

One day, on her way to the grocery store, Kevin's mother was shot from behind by a Black man.

He saw her on the street, walked right up, pressed a gun to the back of her head, and pulled the trigger.

She died instantly.

Then, the man recorded a video next to her corpse and uploaded it to YouTube, where it got thousands of likes.

And Kevin himself well, this body had also suffered. Being Asian made him a target in school. Most of his bullies had been Black students.

As Kevin dug through this body's memories, he didn't even know what to say. What could he say?

Back in his original life, if he'd come across this story in a video, maybe he would've cursed at the perpetrators, sighed about how unlucky this family was... and quietly laughed to himself.

But now, he was Kevin Cross.

"So, I'm supposed to avenge them?" Kevin scratched his head.

Still, revenge would have to wait.

Right now, he was just a regular guy aside from his absurdly good looks, he had no skills, no money, and no power. Taking revenge wasn't even an option yet.

His priority? Understanding his golden finger: the mysterious cheat that had transmigrated with him The Harem Chat Group.

When Kevin opened the app in his mind, the interface was empty. Only one member appeared: the group owner.

Which was, of course, him.

He started poking around, trying to understand what made this group special. But at first glance, it just looked like a basic chat room. Nothing extraordinary. No special features. No obvious powers.

Kevin frowned. Was this really it?

Just then, two crisp notifications rang out in his mind:

"'Tragic Uchiha' has joined the group chat!"

"'Little Nun of Mount Heng' has joined the group chat!"

Two new users popped up.

"Uchiha? Little Nun of Mount Heng?" Kevin's eyes lit up. Finally, someone joined! And from the looks of these names, they were probably from different worlds.

Uchiha that had to be from Naruto.

As for the little nun, she was most likely from a Wuxia universe. Based on the reference to Mount Heng, Kevin guessed she might be from The Smiling, Proud Wanderer.

He just didn't know exactly which characters had joined.

In the Naruto world…

"This subject is a total loss. Dispose of her."

A cold-eyed researcher in a white lab coat spoke clinically, staring at the limbless body submerged in nutrient fluid. Her chest had been cut open, organs exposed, eyes gouged out what remained was nothing more than a husk of a person.

"Captain, are you sure? She's one of the last surviving Uchiha. If we throw her away…"

"Her body's destroyed. No chakra flow. No mental activity. She's useless. I'll report this to Lord Danzo."

"…Understood."

Her mangled body was lifted out of the fluid and carried through a hidden tunnel outside the village. Tossed into a pit, the ninja performed hand seals and struck the ground.

"Earth Style: Seismic Core!"

The earth split, swallowed the body, then sealed over erasing all trace.

"Welcome to the Harem Chat Group!"

A voice suddenly echoed in the ravaged mind of the body now buried underground. The slightest ripple passed through her long-dead consciousness, stirring a flicker of awareness in the void.

"Who…?"

In the Wuxia world…

On Mount Heng's Jianxing Peak, inside the Baiyun Temple, a sweet-faced young nun sat cross-legged, chanting scriptures.

Suddenly, a voice sounded in her head: "Welcome to the Harem Chat Group!"

"Eh? Who's there?" The young nun looked around, wide-eyed. No one was in sight. She raised her head to the statue of Guanyin before her.

"Could it be… the Bodhisattva speaking to me?"

"Who…?" Tragic Uchiha

"Eh? Who's speaking? Is it the Bodhisattva?" Little Nun of Mount Heng

"Genjutsu? You're using genjutsu on me when I'm already dying? Ha." - Tragic Uchiha

"Genjutsu? Wait... I thought it was Bodhisattva?" Little Nun

"You've torn my body apart, stripped my memories with secret techniques, subjected me to every kind of experiment imaginable. I'm already dying. What's the point of casting illusions now? Trying to squeeze out the last drop of value? Too late. I'm useless." - Tragic Uchiha

"Amitabha… I may not understand what 'Tragic Uchiha' means, but it sounds very tragic indeed. I shall chant for you. May Guanyin show you mercy… Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva…" - Little Nun

Reading the hilariously mismatched exchange between the two, Kevin couldn't help but grin.

"Hello, you two. I'm the group owner. This is an interdimensional chat group not an illusion, and definitely not a divine voice. But since you've both joined, that means from now on… you're part of my wings."
