Chapter 2 - Big Problem [2/2]

Oakley was approaching her house when she took note of the little commotion caused by some of the neighbors who had gathered in front of the house.

She increased her speed, and as she got closer to the house, she saw her mother begging some burly-looking men who were busy throwing their things out of the house.

"What do you people think you're doing?!" Oakley screamed at the men. "Who are you?!"

"Don't get in our way, little girl." One of the men said, roughly pushing her aside and went on with what he was doing.

"I can call the police to arrest you all! What you're doing now is against the law!"

"It's not a crime to take back our money."

"Money? What money?" She asked, looking confusedly at her mother. "Did you borrow money from them?"

Her mother did not respond, but her silence spoke louder than any word she would have uttered.

"How much?"

"Five thousand."

"This isn't necessary, then. I'll pay back the money she owes. Trust me."

The man became quiet, considering her words.

"Fine. But if I don't get the money by the end of the week , I promise you that you won't be breathing."

Oakley glared at the men as they finally left their house.

"What are you all still doing here? Go away!" Her mother yelled at the nosy neighbors, chasing them away.

"Mom, are you okay?" Oakley asked, hoping that those men didn't hurt her mother.

"Don't just stand there asking stupid question. Bring our things inside." Her mother, Margret, spat at her before walking into the house.

Oakley sighed, realizing her current predicament. How was she going to get the money to pay those men. She had promised to pay in the heat of the moment, but in reality she didn't know if she could generate such amount of money in such a short time.

What was she going to do?

A man stood up from his bed and picked up his phone which have been ringing continuously on the table.

"What is it?" His cold voice rang out

"We know where she is now." The person on the other end of the phone replied.

"Meet me at my office in thirty minutes." He hung up the call after giving his instruction, and went into the bathroom to freshen up.

Moments later, he stepped out of the bathroom fully dressed in a suit.

"Where are you going?" The woman who was previously asleep on the bed asked. "You can't just leave like that."

She had just woken up to see that the man she had slept with last night was about to leave without telling her, like she was some object for a one night stand.

Ignoring her question, he picked up his phone from the table and left the room without a word.

"Get rid of her." He said to the guard standing by the door, and he modded in understanding

"Yes, Sir."

The guard walked into the room after the man left, and the sound of a scream followed by a gunshot echoed in the hall
