After the match.
Shinji's POV:
"SHINJI!"
I just left the arena after torching my brother in self-defense, when Kenji approached me.
"You feeling, okay? I mean, I know he's an ass, but you're still brothers!"
Apparently, this doofus is concerned for my mental health after putting my brother in a life-or-death state. But...
"I couldn't feel better."
It's like a weight has been lifted of my chest, and I can finally breathe in what feels like forever.
"Suzuki Shinji!"
Just then I could see my opponent for tomorrow's match. He looked rather angry as he walked up to me.
*smack*
"THAT WAS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!" He yelled as he slapped my face.
"IT MAY HAVE BEEN IN SELF DEFENCE, BUT THAT WAS TOO EXTREME! YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST KILLED HIM, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF!"
Just then I recalled. This isn't the first time I've killed someone. Maybe that's the reason why I feel no remorse. Or just maybe.
I could feel a smirk coming on as a thought flashed through my mind.
"I think people who judge others without knowing their circumstances should keep quiet."
"WHY YOU!" Sato yelled as he grabbed me by the collar and raised his fist.
"Hold your horses there Sato!" Daiki said as he appeared with his bruised head leaning over Sato's shoulder.
"Didn't you say not to pick on the newbies?"
"YEAH, BUT!"
"Save it for tomorrows match. You don't want to be disqualified, do you? And besides, that item tester over there looks about ready to kick your ass." Daiki said as he looked over at Kenji, who was giving off some bloodlust while glaring at Sato.
"Fine! You better show up tomorrow!" He said, taking a deep breath as he walked away.
"Sato's a stickler for the rules, but he's got a quick temper and tends to jump the gun. Please, don't hold it against him." Daiki said before skipping after him.
…
The next day, the finals of the spell selection division were being held. While walking into the arena, I couldn't help but look up at the faculty seats where I always found something weird and/or stupid looking thing my professor was doing. But to my surprise he wasn't in his usual seat. Instead, he was sitting bound and gagged next to the principal.
"HAHAHAHA!"
It was just something so satisfying about seeing someone treating him like that for once. I laughed so hard I could barely walk up to the stage.
"SUZUKI SHINJI!"
"*giggle* Sorry, Its just *giggle* so funny to see him *giggle* like that. HAHAHA!" As Sato looked red in the face at my laughter, I was laughing on the floor while holding my stomach.
"SUZUKI SHINJI! YOU WILL QUIET DOWN OR RISK BEEING DISQUALIFIED FOR IMPROPER CONDUCT!"
"Pft…HAHAHAHA. Ugh!"
*BANG*
Despite my best efforts I just couldn't stop myself. That's when a fireball came flying from the spectator's seat, landing right next to me. The shockwave from the explosion sent me tumbling across the arena. I looked up to see my mad professor preparing another spell while giving me a glare. I know that look well. It means 'stop doing what you're doing or else'. I've seen Kenji suffer countless times from not heeding that glare.
"Are you okay? Isn't that your professor? Why is he-?"
"Don't worry about it! I'm just glad he missed this time!"
"This time?" Sato said with a shocked look in his eyes.
"Okay. I'm ready now!"
"DO YOU STILL REMEMBER THE RULES OR WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO RECITE THEM?" the judge asked.
"No thank you!"
"Neither do I!"
"VERY WELL THEN! TAKE YOUR STANCE! GET SET! FIGHT!"
Just then, Sato fired a 2nd tier Dirt shot at me. Suddenly I could hear a certain professor commenting over the PA system again. I glanced up to see the professors freak out as the gagged professor faded into a mannequin with lipstick.
"Pft!"
