Brat nr. 2's (Shinji) POV:
After failing to explain the meaning of Halloween to our mad professor and having vowed to never enter the boss's closet again after what I will, hence forth call the "Mimic Incident". I decided to invite him to a private student event. Once a year, a bunch of students sneak out after lights out and gather to tell scary stories. It's usually a student only event, but seeing as the boss is new, he might not know it's not an approved tradition of the school due to it taking place at midnight. So, I bet on his ignorance of the holiday. Worst case scenario is that there will be no story telling this year. Luckily my bet paid off, and he said he would, and thanks to his reputation he likely won't find out until after the fact, seeing as the other professors are still scared of him. While raiding his room with Aiko's help, we saw a ton of creepy and freaky items lying about, so he probably has some great stories to tell. Or that's what I thought, anyways.
…
"And they say she haunts this academy to this vary day!" A student said, before a girl in a ghost costume suddenly came glowing out of the dark.
"AAAAHHH"
"HAHA. You should see your faces."
"Hey, it's your turn now professor!" One of the girls said as we passed the magic lantern to the professor who was the only one not dressed up amongst us.
"Okay, this is a heartbreaking love story of a Mr. Blackbeard and Mr. Graybeard…"
Apparently, I hadn't explained the concept properly as the boss began describing some pretty graphic fanfiction about the current and former vice principals. Causing all the girls and a couple of boys to blush, while the rest of us were begging for him to stop.
"And then he took his-"
"BOSS! STOP!"
"What? I was just getting to the good part!"
"You're not supposed to tell love stories!"
"What? I thought the whole point of this shindig was to talk about whatever we want?"
"No! You have to follow the theme! Scary stories only!"
"Oh! Then why didn't you say so earlier?"
*Snap*
*Bang*bang*bang*
Just as the professor snapped his fingers, all the doors and windows in the building slammed shut. As the only visible light in the room was dimming in the boss's hands.
"This is a story about a creature that is known throughout all of the magic continent. Be warned as it was based on a true story. So, those faint of heart should return now."
"…" Shaken as we were by the sudden sounds of the windows slamming shut, none of us moved from our spots as the boss continued.
"This is a story about the boogeyman of the magic continent, known by most as the 'Head Hunter'!"
"What, does he come running at you with an application forum! Haha!" One of the teens joked with some faint laughter.
"Witnesses claim it has the appearance of the decaying corpse of a child, wearing nothing, but rags and bandages. With a white mask and sapphire eyes that glows in the dark he wanders the land as he collects the heads of the wicked. Trapping their souls inside their severed heads forever. Still expressing their agonized end as their expressions have been twisted beyond what a human face would allow. They scream in silence!"
Nobody knows where he came from or why. Some say it's the spirit of a vengeful child looking for its parents. Some say it is a demon from hell itself in search of its next victim. But if you ask anyone who knows they will all say the same thing. 'If you ever see two blue eyes looking at you from the vail of the shadows.'" Just then a pair of blue eyes could be seen glowing from behind the professor, as we could hear light footsteps approaching us.
"No matter where you run or where you hide, he will always find you, and he will always claim his prize."
Just then the magic lamp flickered blue as a small, masked figure stood directly behind the professor. It grabbed him by the hair and used a long-jagged dagger to saw off his head, causing him to bleed out everywhere. As his headless body fell forwards breaking the lantern, I could hear countless screams. More than the people present in this hall, I moved to cast a 1st tier light spell to see what was happening, when I came face to face with the severed head of one of the other students dangling off the Head Hunter's belt. I lost focus, which caused the spell to go out leaving me in total darkness as I scrambled to find the door without a light. I could hear the sounds of bloodshed behind me as I found the exit, but…
"Come on! Why won't it open?!" In my panic I failed to notice that the sounds of carnage had been silenced.
I could hear the light steps of something approaching me from behind, as well as that of something dripping on the ground. I slowly turned around to look into the complete darkness as two glowing blue eyes was looking up at me from less than a meter away. Suddenly his eyes lit ablaze, lighting up his mask, as he moved to take it off. And what I saw shocked me to my core. Before me was the skinless face of a child, with two sapphire flames where eyes should have been. He opened his lipless mouth as words started appearing in my head.
'YoU aRe NeXt!'
And with that, several blue flames lit up around the room. I could see the severed heads of my fellow students. They looked as if they were screaming, as their facial features had been contorted and stretched out to make room for the tiny candles sitting inside their open elongated mouths.
I started casting a spell to get him to back away, but I couldn't focus under all this pressure, as I could feel my heart beating out of my chest.
Just then the magic lights on the ceiling were turned on to reveal. Everyone bound and gagged around the room, while a smiling mad professor was sitting on top of his own headless corpse surrounded by fake replicas of our severed heads.
"You brats scared yet?" The boss asked, as the smell of ammonia filled the room.
"…!"
"Good! Now I'll be sending you all to Mr. Graybeards office for an autograph and so you can explain why you all broke curfew."
'Crap he knew all along didn't he.' Those were my last thoughts as the 'Head Hunter' golem knocked me out.
…
The next day. A number of students were punished with cleaning the academy halls for the remainder of October.
Shortly after an unspoken rule was made by the students of Shiro academy.
'Never under any circumstance, ask Professor Sun to tell a scary story.'
There was also a rumor spreading that a certain pair of vice principals used to date.
