Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: An Overbearing Power

Munir slightly turned his head—yet even this small motion sent out a surge of pressure so intense that the man before him began trembling again.

The black-robed figure clenched his teeth and continued:

"Miss Morrian is a Legendary Rank profession holder! Do you even understand how much weight a Legendary Rank title carries? With the resource backing of the Celestial Seraphim, her rate of advancement will be a hundred times—a thousand times—faster than yours! No matter what kind of relationship you had with her before, I'm warning you now—back off… stay far away from her!"

He had originally wanted to say "get lost," but in the end, he didn't have the guts.

He wanted to sound intimidating, but Munir's aura alone had crushed his bravado into submission.

The nearby students were clearly enjoying the spectacle, though none of them openly mocked the speaker. After all, it was true that Mustel was ranked third on the Power Leaderboard, and this black-robed guy was one of his followers. Most people didn't want to offend him.

Mustel was the kind of monster who had reached Level 4 in a single day!

Seeing this, Munir shook his head and gave a cold snort, then strode forward several steps at lightning speed.

"You… what are you trying to do?!"

The black-robed man paled in shock and panic. He was clearly afraid, but remembering that Divine Gifted couldn't actually harm each other in the Divine Gift Domain, he straightened up and puffed out his chest.

Munir was already right in front of him—if he backed down now, he'd lose all dignity.

Suddenly, the black-robed man's vision was overwhelmed by a blinding light—purplish-golden flames instantly engulfed everything in his sight. All he could see was a fist crashing toward him with unstoppable force!

The surrounding Divine Gifted, however, saw everything with perfect clarity.

With a dull "boom," Munir—his entire body wreathed in flames—punched straight through the black-robed man who had provoked him!

The upper half of the black-robed figure's body was obliterated by flame and force, leaving only a shriveled, scorched lower half that slowly sank to its knees.

Before Munir's eyes, a message flared into view:

[You have launched an attack on the "Unknown Deity's" defensive domain and successfully broke through the defenses.]

["Wrath of Rebellion" activated, dealing 400% damage (Oppressor Assessment: Target exhibited hostility and demeaning behavior).]

Staring at the ashes of the man who had been arrogantly shouting at him just seconds ago, Munir found himself stunned.

He had only intended to give the man a harsher lesson—but he hadn't expected the God of Rebellion's power to be this overwhelming. Even the protective rules set in this space by an unknown deity… could be shattered by his strike?!

For some reason, Munir's excitement suddenly surged to a new height.

He was still a teenager, after all—and naturally, he had his dreams.

"Could I really be a chosen one?" The thought stirred in his heart.

Munir looked around. The nearby students, witnessing him kill another Divine Gifted within the Divine Gift Domain, were terrified and quickly scattered.

Even the two students originally from Seacity High School had already backed away, afraid Munir might turn on them as well.

Seeing this, Munir made no further move.

He looked down at the flames still licking the remains of the black-robed figure who had provoked him, and silently murmured, "Exit Space."

In the next instant, his figure vanished from the Divine Gift Domain.

Munir had no intention of wasting more time. He still needed to find a more secure hiding place out in the wilderness.

However, hearing from that black-robed man that Morrian was currently safe, had a Legendary Rank profession, and was being nurtured by the Celestial Seraphim, Munir was finally at ease.

"Morrian is safe, at least."

Once Munir had disappeared, the nearby Divine Gifted finally began to relax, breathing out in relief.

That mysterious figure had exerted far too much pressure on them!

To be able to kill someone even within the Divine Gift Domain—wasn't that just terrifying?

Where on earth had such a monster come from?

"That flame just now… I don't know why, but just looking at it made me feel like my entire body was being scorched. It was terrifying!"

"Who is that guy? Everyone wears black robes in the Divine Gift Domain—we can't tell who anyone is. If we accidentally offend him next time, wouldn't we be dead meat?"

The crowd was filled with unease, shaken to their core.

Someone even turned to the two Seacity High School students who had spoken with Munir earlier and asked, "Do you know that powerhouse? Is he from your school?"

"…I… I don't think he's from our school." The few of them forced a stiff smile.

They simply couldn't imagine that someone that strong… had actually been a classmate of theirs from back home!

From just that little bit of speaking style, they did have a suspect in mind——

That haughty, indifferent tone sounded exactly like one person: Munir, who'd been tugging at and teasing the acknowledged school beauty Morrian, their relationship ambiguous.

He went out of his way to ask about Morrian's situation, which seemed to confirm it.

But… could it really be Munir?

At school, he was just a fighter-type loner—what right did he have to be so formidable?

"Maybe he isn't from Seacity High School at all, but simply heard that Morrian has terrifying talent with the Celestial Seraphim and came asking?" The two Seacity High School students could accept that among the Divine Gifted there were extremely powerful individuals—but they couldn't accept that the strongest one was their everyday classmate; the gap was just too big.

When they both stated they didn't know him, everyone present wore expressions of terror, afraid of running into Munir again.

Just then, a burst of light flashed—and the black-robed man Munir had just struck down actually resurrected.

He touched his body in excitement: "Wait… I'm not dead? I'm not dead!"

The black-robed man's eyes darted around anxiously, fearful of seeing Munir's figure again, until after a long moment he finally calmed down.

His posture puzzled everyone.

All those present felt a new message from the light screen:

Divine Gift Domain Rule Update: In the vast majority of cases, Divine Gifted cannot harm one another. Should harm occur, any Divine Gifted slain within this space will automatically revive, but their level will drop by one. (This rule was temporarily adjusted in response to recent abnormal attack incidents.)

"They changed the rules? Just for that mysterious guy who unleashed purple-gold flames? Holy crap!"

All of us here are travelers pulled in the same way—why are you this ridiculous?!

Reading the screen's update, everyone's confusion and unease deepened. Their reverence for Munir—who appeared and vanished like a phantom—rose to unprecedented heights.

Just after transmigrating, he could shatter the Divine Gift Domain's rules—imagine how powerful he'll be down the road… They didn't dare think it through!

Only that black-robed figure stood there dazed, then suddenly let out a tortured scream: "I… I barely worked my way up to Level 3—how am I Level 2 now? The XP needed to go from Level 3 to 4 is double that of Level 2 to 3! My experience, my level… it's all gone! No… how could this happen!"

He cried out as if in unbearable pain and grievance.

Leveling up in Otherworld wasn't like grinding in an online game: the 200 XP required to reach Level 3 had been earned by that black-robed man in half a day—slaying countless Demonic Beasts rendered powerless, with the Celestial Seraphim's aid.

If he'd had to farm them himself, recovering that level would've taken three or four days—at least!

A massive loss!

The many Divine Gifted around him merely watched, a few sneers escaping: "To be honest, he had it coming—some mysterious stranger just politely asked for news, and you had to go taunt him. Bad luck is all on you."

The black-robed man who had provoked Munir, upon discovering Munir was gone, instantly wore an expression of venomous hatred: "You bastard! You bastard! You bastard! I'm one of Big Bro Mustel's men, a Divine Gifted whom even the Celestial Seraphim must respectfully accept, and you dare treat me like this, dare make me drop a level! Just wait till I find you, or you're dead meat! I will kill you, I swear I will, right in front of everyone, I'll stomp you under my feet and crush your bones! I want you dead, I want you dead!"

He raged impotently.

Having vented his anger, he still felt unsatisfied, and took out his frustration on the surrounding crowd: "What are you all staring at? I'm a Divine Gifted of the Celestial Seraphim, and before long you'll all be nothing but ants beneath my heel!"

His words carried a certain force, but…

Someone suddenly shouted, "The guy who used purple-gold flames is back!"

In an instant, the so-called Celestial Seraphim Divine Gifted who'd been ranting was struck with terror. He looked around frantically, then let out a terrified "Aah!" as his form instantly dissipated—he'd been so scared that he promptly logged out of the space.

"Get over yourself, such a coward."

After he disappeared, someone drawled, and the remark set off a wave of laughter that swept the entire space into a joyous atmosphere.
