Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: Embers Beneath Forgotten Thrones

Even as the remnants of the Silent Throne dissolved into time's embrace, the world did not settle.

Each Sovereign defeated was a lock undone.

And behind each lock was a story… or a wound.

With Sol'Karel gone, the paths to The Obsidian Archive—the realm of sealed Sovereign knowledge—cracked open. It was here the echoes of forgotten flamebearers lingered, and the embers of what Rei might become took shape.

Location: Dimensional Rift — Between the Forge and Archive

Rei and his companions moved through a corridor of living runes, each one depicting possible futures, failed timelines, and warnings.

Noira led the group, blade reforged with fragments taken from Sol'Karel's throne. Mireille floated spectral maps between her fingers, and Eirenne's armor glowed with the pulse of a new resonance: the mark of a guardian recognized by the Epoch itself.

"Where exactly does this Archive connect to?" Rei asked.

Mireille didn't look up. "To all Sovereigns who fell outside history. Ones who didn't just lose—but were erased."

Karasu interjected. "They weren't erased. They were archived. Like data too dangerous to delete, but too cursed to use."

Rei's eyes narrowed. "And I'm going in?"

"Yes," Velis confirmed from behind him. "Because only an Epoch Catalyst can unseal what history fears."

Location: Obsidian Archive – Gate of the Forgotten

The gate was not a door, but a mirror—black as pitch, reflecting not bodies, but regrets. Each member of the group saw something different.

Mireille saw a throne she abandoned.

Noira saw a girl she could never protect.

Eirenne saw herself… alone, always alone.

Rei saw a man in flames.

Himself.

But with the face of someone older. Wiser. Empty.

Rei stepped forward and placed a hand on the glass.

"I don't want to forget. Even the pain. I'll carry it."

The mirror cracked. Then shattered.

The Archive opened.

Inside the Obsidian Archive

The halls were made of black crystal that whispered. Books bled ink. Statues wept starlight.

But at the core lay a flame that did not burn—a memory made real: the Soul Codex of the First Epoch.

Velis bowed before it.

"This was created when the Sovereign System and the Spirit System first diverged. Before balance. Before betrayal."

Rei approached.

"Why show me this now?"

Velis touched the codex. "Because it has chosen a new author."

Suddenly, a tremor shook the Archive.

A new figure stepped from behind the shelves. Armored in entropy, eyes forged from denial.

"Soul Codex isn't for mortals," the figure growled. "Especially not ones rewriting rules."

Velis's eyes widened. "That's impossible. He was sealed."

Karasu hissed. "That's Kyrathel, the First Betrayer. The one who split flame from system."

Kyrathel raised a burning scepter. "I've waited long to see this Codex burn. Step aside, boy."

Rei responded by summoning the full resonance of both Sovereign and Spirit.

"No. But I'll rewrite you instead."

Combat: Rei vs Kyrathel — The Codex Reclaim War

The Archive bent around them, each strike forging or breaking possible timelines.

Kyrathel wielded Entropy Chains, binding alternate versions of Rei's existence.

But Rei had the Remnant Chain and Codex Echo—each clash echoed through realities, locking outcomes into truth.

Rei called upon the spirits bound to his cause: Noira, Eirenne, Mireille—all of them flickering through Codex-mirror nodes, amplifying their essence.

They spoke in unison:

"For the Flame that remembers. For the System that evolves."

Rei's body shone like a rebirth star.

With one final blow—Epochal Rewrite Surge—Kyrathel was shattered into fragments of what he once was.

The Archive sealed itself again… but this time, Rei held the key.

Aftermath — Shrine of the North Wind

Eirenne leaned against the gate, watching the stars realign.

Mireille closed the Soul Codex gently.

Noira sipped tea. "You're collecting titles like candy."

Rei chuckled. "Let's just say I'm preparing for the real end."

Karasu perched atop a broken lantern. "Let them come. The Codex sings your name now."

Rei looked out beyond the mountains.

"So what's next?"

Velis responded with a whisper.

"The Thrones are waking. And one still remembers you from a life you never lived."

Rei's smile faded. "Then let's go remind them who I am now."
