Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: A Lesson in Humility

After interrogating the invisible woman, Cindy, she confessed everything. They were not specially trained agents at all, but mutants recruited by the Axis powers from all over the world. It was a purely transactional relationship; there was no loyalty. Mutants were rare and difficult to find, so this was one of the research projects established by the head of state after he came to power. Training them from a young age was too time-consuming, so it was more cost-effective to simply recruit adult mutants.

"I'm invisible now," Alan smiled slightly and disappeared into thin air. The real invisible woman burst into tears of shock. The pain in her eyes hadn't subsided, and she couldn't control her tear ducts.

"Bucky, just watch her. Shoot her if she tries anything. Don't worry about her life or death." Bucky was not suited to join the fight against mutants. It was enough for Steve to lead the rest.

Bucky picked up the submachine gun wisely, knowing that as a mortal, he would be a liability against a group of super-powered individuals. At the same time, he put the goggles on and could indeed see the orange-red thermal image, which shocked him. He tried on the arm armor. The hard alloy shell was wrapped around a complex mechanical structure. It could not only act as a shield but also had powerful destructive power. From this, Bucky was convinced of Alan's abilities. It was completely impossible for him to guess that, due to Alan's meddling, he had narrowly escaped a fate where he would be rescued by Hydra and redesigned with a mechanical arm.

At this moment, Steve was chasing Alan's trail with a sensor. The closer he got, the more signal bars were displayed. He decided to take down the mutant team in one fell swoop to intimidate the enemy.

Dong, dong, dong…

A dagger hanging in the air made a slight, dull sound as it hit the wall. This was the secret code they had agreed upon.

The other mutants hiding in the bunker appeared one after another. There were five of them in total. They were not equipped with any weapons and were obviously very confident in their superpowers.

The leader said softly, "Mission accomplished. Evacuate."

They quickly followed the evacuation route and went straight to a vehicle storage location outside the city. Due to his invisibility, the leader didn't notice that Alan was no longer the original invisible man. As soon as they arrived at the location, they uncovered the snowmobiles hidden by branches, and everyone immediately got on board.

Alan looked at the tall, blonde beauty in the back seat with a sneaky glint in his eyes. The woman turned and looked at the empty seat. Although she saw no one, she felt a pair of hands wrap around her waist and someone leaning against her back. Thinking the invisible person was a woman, she didn't pay much attention.

The motorcycle sped through the snow, bumping from time to time. Alan snuggled up behind the woman, smiling brightly, biting his lower lip to keep from laughing out loud.

"What's hitting me?" The blonde beauty felt a hard, hot object pressing against her buttocks, a very uncomfortable feeling.

"Don't look back. I'm invisible."

She braked suddenly, the tires skidding on the snow, and the car flipped over. She had clearly heard a man's voice, one that was not her teammate's. She didn't care about anything else and just rolled away to avoid him.

"What happened?" The other four people immediately slowed down and turned around, looking at the blonde beauty getting up in the snow, wondering what was going on.

The blonde beauty was shocked. "She's not the invisible woman! He's a man!"

One sentence shocked everyone. They had thought of various possibilities but had never considered an opponent with the ability to become invisible.

"Come out!" the leader shouted, his hands igniting with flames as his eyes scanned the surroundings. An ice sword condensed in another man's hand. A third's eyes flashed with lightning. A black mist rose from the blonde beauty. The remaining person's hands were surrounded by a magic circle. He was obviously not a mutant but a mage.

"Don't be nervous. I just peed my pants and caught a cold. My voice is a little hoarse." Pee your pants and catch a cold? Can you find a more decent reason?

"Still not coming out?" The man playing with fire spread his arms, and flames radiated in all directions, covering the area like a wave of fire. In a moment, they discovered Alan's location. A human-shaped silhouette was imprinted in the snow where he was lying to avoid the fire damage.

"According to the rules of the arena, if you surrender, you lose half." The invisibility state expired when faced with an attack, and Alan raised his hands to express surrender.

"It seems the mission failed. I guess Cindy has already explained everything," the leader said disappointedly.

"Cindy is a very nice woman," Alan described seriously. "I'm not as delicate as her, and I'm not as coquettish as her."

"There is something wrong with this person's brain. Just kill him." The leader frowned, looking at the person in front of him who didn't look very smart.

"Hehehe…" Alan let out a sinister laugh, pointed at the sky, and shouted, "When in doubt, summon a demigod!"

At some point, Namor was hovering in the air, looking down at the ground. At the same time, in the snow in the distance, Steve was chasing after them on Nanaue. Not long after, the two sides fell into a confrontation.

"Kill them!" As the enemy shouted, the leader pushed forward with both palms, and a pillar of fire erupted. Steve raised his shield to block the flames, stepped aside, and swung his shield to hit the man.

The next second, a beam of lightning struck. Unable to escape, Steve was so shocked that he lay on the ground, twitching. The next bolt of lightning hit Nanaue, but his skin was rough and his flesh thick; he didn't react at all, as if he were an insulator.

Bang!

Namor dropped in for a sneak attack, punching the Electro and splitting him open on the spot.

"Hurricane!" As the wind-controlling mutant exerted his power, an icy wind blew. Taking this opportunity, the black mist on the blonde beauty extended toward the opponents, turning into a black snake to imprison Steve and the others.

Snap!

Alan whipped the blonde beauty away with a huge blow. She rolled three and a half times in the air and fell into the snow, unconscious.

"Do you think I, the righteous judge, don't exist?" Alan glanced at the wind controller and the mage, proudly pulling out the chain from his waist. "Do you want to taste the flavor of bliss?"

"Haha, you think you've won," the mage smiled lightly. "I am a mage from Kamar-Taj."

"The Sorcerer Supreme defected to the Nazis?" Alan's expression was startled. He immediately thought whether the Ancient One was involved with the Axis powers, or else how could she allow one of her mages to help the Nazis?

"How can that be?" the mage explained. "I secretly learned forbidden arts and was exiled."

"A wild mage with so much nonsense." Alan's eyes were full of contempt. He didn't take this mage without any backing seriously at all.

"Very good. I hope you can still be so tough in a moment." After that, the aura of the magic circle in the mage's hand circulated, and he raised his hand to cast a spell: "Severe Paronychia."

"…"

Alan had a confused expression on his face. He looked at himself worriedly but found nothing was wrong, which only made him more confused.

"There's no reason why it wouldn't work. Severe paronychia!" The mage didn't believe it and cast the spell on Steve.

"Ouch, my toes hurt so much!" Immediately, Steve rolled on the ground, clutching his feet.
