Few Hours Before The Chaos
******
It was just another ordinary day for Eden. He had managed to survive through hours of his shift at the Gay bar where he worked.
Serving drinks to guys who didn't stop asking for his number or something similar.
"You look so pretty? Would you want to drink with me?"
"I know I'm pretty but I'm busy" Was Eden's usual reply.
"Would you like to spend the night with me? I have enough money to take care of you afterwards" Some were bold or shameless enough to say.
"Sorry I'm busy and also not poor" Eden would reply. Even though his salary here wasn't enough to feed him for a week. It was pure peanuts.
"Excuse me - But I like you. You're so pretty" Some who were naive first timers at the gay bar would confess after mustering up the courage.
"Thanks for liking me. But i already have a boyfriend" Eden would also say even though he was single.
He hasn't been in a relationship for over a year now. He needed a break after his last one which wasn't such a pretty love story.
Eden was popular at the gay bar for being attractive. "The Pretty Bar Tender Guy" As he was always referred to as. But it was also no news that he was pretty much cold and snubby to people who approached him.
Which gained him some hate amongst those he rejected.
But Eden didn't care. It wasn't as if he was anti-romantic. He was in fact the opposite. He was an expert at romance.
His past said it all. His wild past where going clubbing was his speciality and changing boyfriends was a hobby. Years back before he started working at this bar, he was crowned "The King Of Fatal Seduction"
He was pretty and he knew it. And so he used it to pull anyone he wanted in. It became an unconscious habit of his. Pulling the boys in. Both straight or not.
It was a rather messy life he led if it was to be defined. One that he lived but still managed to keep his virginity. It was his pride.
But he had decided to stop and keep his distance from any love or relationship for a year now. After his last relationship. And now he was working as the cold bar tender at a gay bar. A job he pretty much hated but had nothing else to do.
Eden closed up for the day by 9 and headed home. Home to his One room apartment his friend had lent him to stay.
Eden tossed his bag to the side and turned on the lights that illuminated his messy looking room. His clothes were tossed at different corners.
He didn't bother cleaning up. He never did. After all no one visited him. His friends were all abroad at the moment. He was the only "unsuccessful" one here struggling to make a living.
Eden grabbed a can of soda from the refrigerator and sat down before his study table. He didn't have any Study to do. This 22 year old him wasn't in school anymore. He simply just wanted to pour out his annoyance of the day into his computer.
And specifically into the Online Web Novel he hated and was an active anti fan of.
Popping open the Can of Soda in his hands, he glared at the stats of the Novel before him.
The novel was ranked number one in the best seller list and on most Popular and trending as well. It was currently the most popular book on the app in the female lead section. Its view had hit 10 Million and the rating peaked at 9.5.
Eden didn't understand why at all. He didn't understand why this book was damn popular.
The book had started trending just a few weeks ago. Previously Eden's currently favourite web Novel was the one trending.
{ LOVE IS ONLINE} - The Title Of Eden's favourite book. A story about two top male gamers in the same Gaming Team. A typical enemies to lovers BL novel with a touch of gaming fantasy.
It was the hottest book on The app that Eden loved and Felt it deserved the hype. Until this new one came along and dethroned it.
With a current chapter of over 500+, This New book had taken the top spot and dethroned {Love Is Online}, leaving it at 2nd place.
Eden was not happy about that. He had always been protective of the book and felt it should be on top. Especially for the fact that the current one on top was not even as good as people claim it was!
{LADY HELENE PULLS ROYALTIES} was the name. A typical Historical Reverse harem book set in A European Inspired Aristocratic Era of Royalties and nobles and all. One that follows an Ordinary girl who suddenly gets entangled in reverse harem with 5 guys or so. All who are nobles and royalties fighting for her love. Typical.
Eden had read this book to its current chapter and still didn't see why the hell this book is doing better than his favourite book.
It wasn't as if he didn't read straight romance books, which this one was. But it was the fact that he found this Cliché, silly and poorly executed.
It was silly in all ways. The logic was lacking and it didn't even have a powerful plotline.
The main focus of it was these guys fighting up and down for this lady. And this Female Main Character was just a silly damsel in distress falling into the arms of anyone!
She didn't have any compelling characteristics. She was just hovering in-between the arms of these powerful men - The Crown Prince, The Grand Duke, The Marquis, The Prince and A Royal Mage mainly.
People loved the book but he didn't even understand why. So he became an anti-Fan. Bombarding the comment and review sections with hate comments about the work with a secret ID, while his cat slept peacefully besides his chair.
{Why the hell can't she just say no to him??}
{Why are the Main Leads being Overbearing and toxic at the same time in the dumbest ways and y'all okay with that?}
{What's romantic about him locking her up so she won't leave him}
{Okay this book has lots of plot holes! Yet the only thing y'all talking about is how sexy the guys are?}
{ Why is the Female lead getting dumber each chapter}
{Why the hell are these guys forcing themselves on her? That's rape! Why are y'all calling it romantic??}
Eden was pissed and speechless each minute.
He took it as a routine to keep reading while dropping hate comments on this work. But it just kept pissing him off to see the numbers of the views grow each day into a million more.
Why the hell was this trashy book even popular? What happened to appreciating good work over some smutty rated 18 stuff?
At some point, Eden didn't know if he was fighting this book because it surpassed his favourite book. Or because he hated how dumb this book was and why no one saw what he saw!
Tonight, he did the same. Flooding hate comments to the book on his computer late into the night.
It was already 12, and it had started raining. Eden didn't notice the harsh rain that was threatening to pull down trees outside. He only cared about fighting the brats defending this book in his comment section.
He was too busy typing an epistle in defense of his argument that he didn't notice that his soda drink had poured on the table.
When he did notice, it was already too late. It had poured into his laptop.
Eden saw sparks from his laptop, followed by a thunderstorm outside.
He paused writing his hate comments and looked around.
"What was that?" He looked around? The light he was sure was on had gone off.
He should have gone and checked what the problem was. But he Simply wanted to finish what he was writing.
So he continued. Angrily typing into his laptop.
Minutes later came another spark from the computer, followed instantly by thunder and lightening from outside which flashed into his room.
It was a Sharp mix of the thunderstorm, lightening and the electric spark from his laptop and the socket. All mixed to make Eden's vision go blank.
